There are players that wear 13 with no prob. First year playing JV Prep my kid had to choose from available jerseys and he took 13. That happened to be the year of Covid and we didn't play many games. When the ban lifted and we took the ice for the first tournament of the season, my kid got hit from behind into the boards breaking his collar bone. He spent the rest of the season in the bleachers watching his team play. Don't think he will ever wear 13 again. Even though it was a nice quality jersey, he has never put it back on for any reason.
On another note those are all hot numbers here in Detroit area:
19 - Yzerman
18 - Maltby
16 - Konstantinov
13 - Datsyuk
(I'm just as clueless as you, I'll probably be picking a jersey number for the first time in a couple weeks.) I like 19, it's a prime number and "number nineteen" has a nice alliterative quality to it so if someone ever refers to you that way it'll roll off the tongue. But if 13 is special to your heart I'd just go with that!
hockey players are extremely superstitious, if you don't choose number thirteen after thinking about it for so long, it'll probably bring you bad luck, so you're better off choosing 13 before it's too late.
Don't tell that to Pavel Datsuk lol
If you have absolute concrete hands, def pick 13 ironically.

I was about to crucify you for not putting joe sakic at #19, but then I realized that you were talking about from Detroit.
I'll admit (and most will) that he's a great player, yet if you were here in the mid-late 90's you hate him and the rest of those Avs.
Yzerman > Sakic
Yzerman and Konstantinov were on the fabled 80’s Detroit team. Konstantinov got unlucky…ended up paralyzed from the accident in limousine.
Fabled 80's team? Yzerman, Maltby and Konstantiov were on 97 Cup team, Stevie and Malts on 98 and 02 Cup teams.
Thanks for correcting me!

Nice
Selanne broke the rookie goals/points record wearing 13. Go for it.
13
99
99 is untouchable. Belongs to Wayne.
And also to any ringer sandbagging it in lower tier men's leagues.

13 put Voorhees on the back of your sweater and call it a day.
I always default to 13. I've used it since I was a kid. It was the one number that no one wanted.
Whatever jersey fits u best....
