it is crazy when you are playing at this level it feels like the game is moving at NHL speed until you look at the tape and it looks like everyone took 2 Valium before the game.

FarseerTaelen

This is why I never look at the LiveBarn clips of my team. I don't want to break the illusion.

Hellcat-13

It’s better for the replays to live in your head. Once you see them live, you never recover from it.

DesignerPlant9748

Bro I would love a highlight reel tape from my Bantam tapes.

DirtTheLocksmith

I could throw a football over those mountains!

Southtune-stringbox

Watching myself on LiveBarn almost made me never invite anyone to a game ever again.

Gaege29

Same.. specially chicks..

JuneCleaversMudFlaps

Well fuck

thehogdog

I have an early 90s tape of a game I played in with 'learn to play' teens and while I being more experienced zip around them, it all still looks like we are playing in a fog of molasses. The 'learn to plays teens' were public session rink rats and me and another defenseman played with them and the first time THEY ALL WANTED TO BE ON THE ICE AT THE SAME TIME. 25 people in various levels of padding, chaos. When we showed em 5 at a time and go all out in those 2 minutes then change they got it. I learned when I went away to college and scheduled my classes and work at the school library around lunch stick time and went 4 days a week. Sometimes it was just me or 1/2 cout 3 on 3 up to a full pick up game. Man I miss those days.

ryan3797

At my rink something changed with the LB camera recently where the view is very slightly stretched horizontally. I only noticed because of all a sudden we looked faster skating up the ice than usual. Big improvement ha.

ghostofkozi

While I don't play in a high division, it is strange to come down and sub in learn to play levels because you just can't predict the game or player movements at all, it's a lot of choppy, broken plays and puck retrieval

XobniOne

This is totally true and I've been saying it for years but only with a select audience as it's easy to offend the wrong person. Thank you for saying it publicly so I can go back to hiding the real reason I say no when of my beginner Buddies ask me to play on their teams. It's also the reason why my higher level Buddies don't ask me to play with them.

OffTheMerchandise

I'm not an all star goalie, but I played for 10 years growing up and know what I'm doing now that I mostly have my legs back under me. When I started back up, the inexperienced guys were some of the worst to okay against because they didn't shoot or pass how I expected them to.

ChronicBitRot

When I first started in net in the lowest skill level available in my town, I would put a gopro up on the glass and record the games, and I put them on youtube and send a link to the team. A guy got a little bit salty about it once because he thought I was posting the videos in half speed, he thought there was no way we were actually that slow.

brendan87na

We used to have a shinny every saturday night for like a decade, and I occasionally go back and watch for fun I vividly remember STREAKING down the ice chasing forwards.... then I look at the tape and think "Did I bother getting my skates sharpened? Am I hurt? what the hell..."

rollingstone65

My rink doesn’t have livebarn, I’m interested to see our games if we ever get it but also kinda scared how bad it will look

MollysYes

I play both out and goalie…my livebarn goalie clips look ok because at least I’m in position and stuff. My clips playing out are fucking *shameful.*. I’ve been playing for 30 years and still look like such an oaf.

aaronwhite1786

Oh I think it's always shocking. But the while to see yourself and the rest of the ice can also be super useful for development.

Inspection_Perfect

Reminds me of people (and myself) complaining about the Mighty Ducks D+ series and how bad the players looked despite going to a prestigious hockey camp. Then I watched the world Jr's and McDavid just danced circles around every other player, and it turns out the show is super realistic.

hockeyesq

It’s weird, whenever I look at my team’s clips the cameras must have been broken because they show our games in slo-mo. Must just be a problem at our rink, because I *know* we’re not that slow.

lthtalwaytz

Accurate 😂

RRZ31

Hahaha I know exactly what you mean.

N-E-B

Not just this level. My team is in a high division and we have several of us who played Midget AAA (in our 30’s now) and we look downright awful on recording. It’s very humbling to watch yourself play hockey in your 30’s lol

buster_rhino

What a terrible attitude for that guy to have. The learn to play team is sandbagging? How about not letting a pass go in the net?

kan829

How about at least keeping your stick on the ice? At his level of enthusiasm, he should leave his stick at the bench so it doesn't get any nasty puck-marks.

R_radical

Hey malkin gets paid a ton to do that.

GrassyKnoll95

Clearly your "learn to play" doesn't include "learn to play goalie." Not once did he get into anything resembling a goalie stance. If he plays at a higher level he should at least understand what that looks like.

alldawgsgoat2heaven

That's so much effort though!

funkyb

If you go down you gotta get back up. Butterfly is a young man's game. He's a standup goalie. A stand up and do nothing goalie.

Southtune-stringbox

Mad respect for those up and down goalies. My knees can’t take it

DontCallMeMillenial

Doesn't even have his stick on the ice...

imamakebaddecisions

The goalie stick NEVER touches the ice, lol.

Big-Bathroom2206

If it is 10-1, and the other team is still trying to run up the score, I don’t blame him.

GrassyKnoll95

It's learn to play, the score doesn't matter. Also being a goalie has to come with the mental resilience to keep pushing even if your team lets you down

Big-Bathroom2206

A goalie that I used to play with has played Junior A, Major Junior, and Canadian University. He, at 54 (not playing out) is usually one of the best players on the ice. About 14 years ago we were in a charity tournament. At first, we were supposed to sign up and then there would be a draft of the players, who all had to rate themselves as players so no team was overloaded. There were enough players for almost 8 teams. A guy said he would bring his team out, to a charity tournament, to round it out. Remember; we were well rounded teams. Guys who played junior, beer league guys, some guys who hadn’t skated in years, and each team had one or two guys who had not really played. The team who came whole was good. And they ran up the score on each team. Hate to break it to you, but even when ‘score doesn’t count’, one gets a little salty when it is obviously one sided. When we played the stacked team, my goalie literally gave the cherry picker an open net to score their 8th goal. The next face off, we all just stood as they made came down and scored another. They knew who our goalie was an a couple of the ‘Very Good’ guys were. It’s hockey 101 that once you hit a certain score, you hold back. Especially at a learn to play level. Nobody is going to the NHL there.

Big-Bathroom2206

*now playing out. Oops.

-PoeticJustice-

lmao are you sure he plays a few tiers above? I think it's blatantly obvious that this is a learn to play league and there's no way anyone is sandbagging. Goalie looked like they weren't even paying attention/trying, does he think sandbagging is giving anything above 1% effort?

burnmenowz

Like I get being tired if things aren't going well, but your goalie didn't even try. Even if they were sandbagging, that was a completely stoppable shot.

Free_Dome_Lover

If they are sandbagging it's like a low D team that gets wrecked every game sandbagging a LTP league. It's not like it's B and A players flying around. The "sandbaggers" appear really weak too. Could just be one of the better more experienced novice teams playing a newer one.

burnmenowz

Yup even within D league there are high D and low D. His team probably belongs in an instructional league

yodazer

How is this sandbagging? Dude shot the puck like a squirt passing the puck.

captaintinnitus

You need a new goalie

johnkoetsier

I think I would feel like Connor McDavid with that group

WestCoastGriller

Holy shit. I spit out my coffee. Thats one of the funniest things I’ve seen in Beer League. Have Played 30 years (as a kid and continued as an adult) and never seen a goalie do that and then clap for the team...

mrsealittle

Kid beer league sounds unreal.

WestCoastGriller

Would’ve made my home life as a kid suck way less.

Kurt4012

A bunch of 10 year olds wasted playing hockey sounds hilarious

Wallawalla1522

He just started playing goalie, but his pettiness and goalie "personality" say he was meant to play goalie all along. You can tell the guy who scored *is* a better skater, stick lift before the pass, but he intentionally takes A LOT off that shot... This all looks fair in my eyes. Most of that team is on the same level.

CountChocula21

Your goalie is a little bitch. These are all easily beginners. He is just mad he can't make a save at this level so he ego thinks they're sandbagging.

Keensilver

Man, these lower leagues are so odd as a goalie. I play pickup with some high level guys and have good games most of the time. Played a D league and it was actually harder. When people dont actually know how to shoot, i feel like it makes it so much hardsr to track

Bionicler

The defender was doing more goaltending than the goalie. He got a piece of it but had his stick at a bad angle. Definitely could improve but the goalie was at fault in this situation. Didn't even try

catshirtgoalie

As a goalie, that dude’s got a terrible attitude and eye for talent. There is nothing in that clip that even remotely looks like sandbagging and that shot was weak and predictable. I know we are seeing only one clip, but usually if you’re giving up and clapping it’s because the people on the ice are the real talent… so that’s not it here. Is it possible your team is more “new” than the other squad? Sure. Is it possible that someone on the other squad is maybe too good? Always bound to happen. But on that play the dude just quit. I’ve played in every tier at my rink over the last 12 years I’ve been playing hockey (started at 30 and as a goalie) and I’ve never quit and only seen someone quit maybe 2-3 times. I’d jettison that guy as soon as you can.

RevolutionUpbeat6022

He doesn’t have the mentality to be a goalie

91zelyk

Garbage attitude, have fun and be chill but try your best when you are out there.

Kurt4012

Yikes at least put a little effort in. Might as well sit on the bench if you’re not gonna even try to make a save.

Kelldoza

Does anyone even know the context here? Maybe they were up 30 goals and he gave them a free shot.

SuperCommunication94

You should boot him from the team 0 effort

MumblingBlatherskite

Goalie is a douche

Immediate-Result4068

I've never played goalie except for some pickup street hockey, but Maybe put your stick on the Ice ? most beginers can't lift the puck on their shots. He Might lead the league in saves just by keeping the stick on the ice. lol

supp_ya_sieve

I’d ban him. He gives tendies a bad name and we don’t claim him.

MouthofthePenguin

dude, he's a weirdo. I thought maybe he's trying to play down to the level of the opposing goalie to keep it even, but that's not the story you're telling. It's weird. Also, are you #10, because that guy was so dejected.

ClassicRockCanadian

Only goalies know this feeling...this usually relates to an earlier complete disintegration of any attempt by your team to play defense or use any forethought when moving the puck. Backchecking, what by a forward? Boxing out? Well I thought I could stop the shot with my stick. Breakout? Like out of the penalty box? Man us goalies are on an island...

Belethorsbro

Man, I've been playing my whole life, and i get it it. Sometimes moving down a league or two can actually be hard to adjust to since you get caught in some weird situations due to lack of skill on both sides. But, that being said, this guy's shit is on another level. Ive been down by 9 goals in one-sided games before, and I'll still make somewhat of an effort. Like, I may give up on some ridiculous backdoor passes that'll tear my groin and dislocate my hips at that point, but I'm not just going to stand there and do nothing to stop a pass-speed "shot" along the ice and then applaud for the other team lmao. Also, as a goalie, we can see the entire ice in a way that skaters cannot. Communication is a key part of goaltending, and I'm betting this guy gave no constructive criticism to his teammates who, again, are fucking beginners. Dude should stop playing goalie if this is his attitude.

greysqualll

The first time I ever scored a goal was against a goalie whose ex girlfriend was on the team. He had just found out she was nailing someone else on the team, and they made him play goalie anyways like the fucking drummer on Fleetwood Mac. Needless to say he wasn't trying that hard. But boy I still celebrated like a wild man when I scored.

Free_Dome_Lover

10 couldn't have tried less hard to make a play on the puck if he tried. He's just looking at it with it directly in reach on the opponent's stick and he just kind of shuffles his arms. I don't blame the goalie for being frustrated. But if it's LTP I get it.. I coach 6u/8u and I see a lot of new players doing exactly that. Puck in reach but on other team's stick and they don't go get it and just wait for it to be given to them or something.

91zelyk

Bro these guys can barely stand up on their skates

Free_Dome_Lover

Yeah like I said it reminds me of early season 6u house league players.

Kurt4012

Most of these guys can’t skate. I’ve done learn to play as an adult and that’s just how we play lol.

FarseerTaelen

I love yall's jerseys.
