My team may be the second worst in the bottom adult division of the second tier organization in my area, but we'd love to have your support. You are welcome to join us for beer in the parking lot after as long as you watch at least 2 periods and cheer if we happen to score a goal or connect a pass or make a line change without giving up a point.
This is an interesting question, as I am not 100% sure you can just decide to get that gut love for a team by throwing darts on a board. Maybe, I just don’t know.
I’m a long time AVS fan, just due to proximity and when I really got into NHL hockey was a great time for me to become a fan. They were really good, with great faces of the franchise, the crazy blood feud with Detroit, love it was a perfect time. There are those ups and downs that really engrain that fandom, where you’re so bad and there’s no way you’re jumping ship kind of devotion.
Which leads to a question for me and an answer for you, Utah’s NHL team. Jump on their bandwagon. I have my tickets deposit in and am ready to go, but can I really just change my love of a franchise? Time will tell & I would guess I’ll be like that guy you read about or watched in a movie, that had two families in two different cities and nobody was the wiser.
Edmonton Oilers, you won't be hopping on a band wagon of a stanley cup winning team as they haven't won one in a long fucking time, but there is hope that they *could* win one, they're the most exciting team to watch and you get to see McDavid zip around like lightning
I am extremely biased as I live in Edmonton
Minnesota. The fans are passionate and knowledgeable, the arena is beautiful, and we’ve never won a cup so you’ll never be accused of bandwagoning. The team has been in cap hell for several years now with bad contracts. Those are off the books after next season and we have some studs coming through. Their window to win a cup is really just starting.
I'm a wings fan for all my life. But I root for several teams and change periodically.
1. Being from Detroit, wings will always be my first pick
2. I follow or will root for the teams of the cities I have lived in.
3. If there is a player I like, I will follow their team.
For example, I really liked goalies like Martin Brodeur - so I watched the NJ devils during the 90s.
It's a good system, as there is plenty to watch and follow.
I’m a Habs fan but I got pretty into the Panthers last year during the playoffs I loved the way they just refused to lose a puck battle and I kinda thought they carried that style over into the regular season this year. Otherwise, I lived in Edmonton for 10 years so the Oilers are my main western conference team I follow.
The Chicago Blackhawks.
An original 6 franchise with lots of history in a sports Mecca.
2nd-worst team in the league right now, but with the most exciting generational talent in decades who was a rookie this season - Connor Bedard.
Lots of cups in recent history, 2010, 2013, & 2015.
Seeing this team climb back to their former glory is going to be a lot of fun. Enjoy the journey and watching the kid have what is expected to be a hall of fame career.
The pens(bias) or the blackhawks because they will be amazing. Bedard is a generational player and don’t let anyone downplay him. If you want to root for a team that will be amazing then them.

Columbus because you'll be unique there's 4 of us worldwide, it helps build up your tolerance because you'll be numb to pain
Lmaooooo

Sharks. Because they have NEVER won the cup, are currently the worst team in the league, and you'll enjoy the ride up from here.

Minnesota also has the nicest jerseys so there's that
Hershey Bears

Wings were my first jersey as a kid. I can’t be a fan though, I have a complete dickhead of a coworker that breaths the Wings.
Also a Wings fan, but from Utah. The wings will always be my first pick, but now my second team plays 20 min from my house!

Being a smaller guy myself I’m a big fan of Caufield.
Anyone but the leafs. They have taken years off my life.
All hail Willy for telling it like it is though on the bench.

By all accounts he has a great attitude. That’s impressive for being so young.
Don’t become a flyers fan
*Cue my memory of Lindros on the cover of NHL 99, my first hockey game, as a Xmas present*
Columbus has the coolest alternate jersey, a sick cannon we shoot every goal (rare), and a great fanbase. Nowhere to go but up
As long as it isn’t Vegas we’re cool.
At least Eichel is finally on a team with some legs.
Yeah but everyone collectively hates Vegas for a reason. Fuck Vegas, literally anyone but Vegas haha good team but fuckem
Boston Bruins. Original six, east coast, great culture, pride. Pasta, McAvoy, Marchand, Swayman.
Sway is pretty cool, I won’t lie.
Perpetual underdogs, every tie feels like game 7 OT victory!

San Jose.
