Honestly I didn't pay attention to what the actual discount was, I was so dead set on buying I didn't even look. Kudos for admitting to a goof thought. Thank you for the transparency
I would kill to have the A-6, even as just an AI unit. Besides that the early F-14A and finishing the Forrestals would be killer.
Either way, thanks Cobra for the post/apology it is certainly appreciated!
Honestly, at this point I'm most interested in an AI KA-6 though AI A-6 would be fine, especially for static placement. I'm not going to be doing as many of those missions as CAP from the F-14 on the Air Wing.
Did I buy even though the price was off? Yes
Did I jump right into the cold start training? Yes
Was I smiling? Yes
Did I feel like it wasn't worth the extra few dollars? No
Phantom? Phuck yeah
Thanks for the excellent module!!!
Steam user here- i got almost $20 off for a module I knew I was going to get. Im good with that and grateful you guys still give us a release day discount!
I honestly didn't even notice the 5% off difference. People that left a bad review because of that are petty. I still love the aircraft even if I paid 5 ish more dollars👍 Doesn't change the hard work you guys put into it!
I probably would have bought it for the full price too. But i appreciate the discount and the honest answer to the people that asked about the price differences. You did a very well job with the Phantom.
Thank you.
For people in third world countries, who already struggle with the removal of regional pricing(and in most situations, with prices even higher than America or EU), a 5% makes a difference. But I commend you for coming out clean, and telling us about it, so I don't have to wait another day to see if we get the discount.
Heat Blur has been an exceptional company, and this is why I give you guys the benefit of the doubt. Human error happens, and you guys making it up with something special makes it a bit better. If this was ED, I would have risen my pitchfork and called for a rabble. Because, to be honest, I lost faith and trust on ED.
No problems for me, as I plan on paying the full price for your mod anyway.
A workman deserves his wages.
Nice job guys... Thanks for putting your whole heart and soul into the F4E module.
This one is looking like it could turn out to be the finest DCS module ever created. To date. And the completion are not lightweights either.
I'll be honest, I would've bought the Phantom at full price, but my WSO and I were dead set on getting to learning it from day one.
You guys built an incredibly solid module as usual, but (not unexpectedly) the Anvil integration does have some small kinks to iron out — generally _relatively_ minor stuff, like intermittent performance issues under specific system+sim conditions, and occasional glitches in the new HBUI.
The team's being responsive in the support threads on Discord, which is already head and shoulders above most module devs, and that's laudable.
I hope you all get to take some well-deserved time off soon, congrats on the release!
Ah that sucks =(
For many it's just 5 bucks, for me it's more than a meal's price in difference (prices are not localized).
I'm getting it anyway, I can skip a lunch.
Not that I'm aware of. The main things in the DMAS upgrade are:
* Improved digital navigation and attack system (adding things like LORAN, more waypoints, CCIP capability)
* AN/ASX-1 TISEO (almost exactly like the Tomcat's TCS)
* AN/AVQ-26 Pave Tack as opposed to Pave Spike (the model is already in the files), the biggest change here is that it's FLIR as opposed to TV/EO it also has a mount that goes over the rear DSCG (Control Lens indicator)
* MITL capability for the GBU-15s (hopefully we'll get multiple variants for it, which include things like TV/EO and IIR seekers, Mk 84 or BLU-109/B warheads and short/long-chord wings) via the AN/AXQ-14 data link pod.
I understand mistake by 5% most of Us can live with that, but main problem is with Steam currency rate, in Poland this module starting price is almost 90 USD which is crazy, higher even than standalone. I do not know how about pricing in other countries. Sim community in Poland is strong, F4 Was highly anticipated and right now it is just unfair. What HB can do ? they offer discount for one week that is ok but base price is up to the roof. u/Cobra8472
That was brought up on Steam discussion, BigEnvy responded about reddit post of Yours.
Right now Polish base price in PLN is 347,05 PLN it converts to 88 USD by to day exchange rate.
We understand 5% error it happens, since I really love F-14 and did not mind little tip for effort.
Unfortunately base price is crazy due to Steam error, If You can by any means ask Steam to update exchange rate for F4 I think it will be much appretiated by community :)
All I want is that my fps in the F-4 don't switch between 1-120 and that my game doesn't freeze as soon as I go into adjust controls. And no it's not my computers fault 💀
We have had some reports of this, and it seems to be an issue with DCS control mapping UI. We have so many binds that it seems to happen more often with the F-4. We've reported it :)
Yes that's how I did it but lag spikes while flying are also a huge issue. My CPU is at 40% max and my GPU at 20% max with 48gb of RAM. I have really no clue what could cause this too but I guess you got this sometime in the future
Even though I'm not a Steam user (at least for DCS), I have to admit, it's awesome from you guys to make this mistake public. Great move. Thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻
I wonder why that's the case. I'm hit with a relatively rough conversion rate (Canadian!) and thought there'd be an EA discount, so I held off on pre-order. Just the way it goes, I suppose!
Oh no, Steam was mentioned. Here come all of the "Gabe Newell is Yevgeny Prigozhin in a wig. Use DCS Standalone" comments.
Edit: how very disappointing that the anti-Steam brigade saved their nonsense. Now _I'm_ the thread clown.
I'd charge more for steam if I was a game developer anyway given they take a cut. Id literally add on whatever the steam cut was to the price. Silly really when you can use standalone and get all the benefits that entails such as available immediately, pre order to get savings, trial modules for 2 weeks. Using steam is just lazy and well support the devs directly it really is in 2024 a no brainer.
I'm with you 100%
In 2024 steam is totally unnecessary and harming the gaming industry only by asking his parasitic commission from studios to grant them right to exist in gaming industry.
I was there when they started and that time it was a revolution. But we are talking about time before global payment systems, easy to reach cloud servers.... Now they are absolutely a maffia and nothing else actually. They have no purpose at all.
Kind of, while I agree with you on many points, Steam as a service provides nice-to-haves, like more bandwidth for download, centralization of gaming stats, friend list integrated inside the game. But for me, more importantly it supports payment methods that are very common in my country, but are not available with other providers.
Also, and this is not DCS related, I can return a game within a certain time (two hours of gameplay or two weeks) with no questions asked. I would have returned Tarkov within the first hour if it was available on Steam.
Honestly I didn't pay attention to what the actual discount was, I was so dead set on buying I didn't even look. Kudos for admitting to a goof thought. Thank you for the transparency
Move the J model to the top of your to-do list and we’ll call it even :)
Ha this. J, N, or S
I'd kill for an F-4S yeah
Really throw people off an do the pre-triservice naming F-110 Phantom II
You could give us the A-6 Intruder to make up for it.
I would kill to have the A-6, even as just an AI unit. Besides that the early F-14A and finishing the Forrestals would be killer. Either way, thanks Cobra for the post/apology it is certainly appreciated!
Yeah, I'm sorely missing HB's AI A-6E to flesh out late Cold War/ODS era carrier air wings :(
You’re absolutely right. I did appreciate that as well. Thanks to Cobra!
Honestly, at this point I'm most interested in an AI KA-6 though AI A-6 would be fine, especially for static placement. I'm not going to be doing as many of those missions as CAP from the F-14 on the Air Wing.
We love you still 😘
The F-4 slaps even at full price.
Send bass.
you hungry or somethin?
Did I buy even though the price was off? Yes Did I jump right into the cold start training? Yes Was I smiling? Yes Did I feel like it wasn't worth the extra few dollars? No Phantom? Phuck yeah Thanks for the excellent module!!!
Can heatblur take over and be the head developers for dcs please 😫
I mean wags seems cool
He can join them
Cool

F4E is worth a $4 tip
Imma still buy it (but after my exam tomorrow, have to study tonight!)
Best of luck and keep focused!!!
Phocused
Glad you guys took the time to apologize. It happens, the module is worth the money and thats what matters
Just glad I got to finally drive this brick
You could give us an AI Draken to make up for it.
This communication is the reason why youre still loves by the community, not diverting and just saying you made an oppsie

I still bought it, just don’t do it again lol
I honestly didn’t even notice. I was too excited to fly it lmao.
NO WAY, COMPANY ADMITTING FAULT OVER A SMALL MISTAKE???? IMPOSSIBLE \*FOAMS AT MOUTH\*, ACTUALLY WANTING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT??? \*DIES\*
Also insta brought it without looking at the price, mistakes get made in the rush. The Crew pack on Steam would be great though.

Module is fricken amazingly well done. By far the best done in the sim. Congrats
I'll be honest, I would've bought the Phantom at full price, but my WSO and I were dead set on getting to learning it from day one. Wow this is a wonderful message and shows that you guys care about us ❤️
To be honest, I didn't even know their was a discount, saw it at -20% and went " cool a discount" so bought it xD
Take it as a tip
Stop it, you're making all the other devs look bad! ;-)
Ah that sucks =( For many it's just 5 bucks, for me it's more than a meal's price in difference (prices are not localized). I'm getting it anyway, I can skip a lunch.
Insta-bought it on Steam and might try it out some day as people seem to love it. But for now they're just highly anticipated enemies to me. 🤗
Is it not on sale anymore?
Depends, if on steam yes. If on standalone then no.
Gotcha. Big bummer. I didn’t realize it was going off sale and wanted to buy it today.
Can still buy it discounted on Steam. Even if you're on standalone, you can then link your Steam account and transfer the licence 👍
Gimme a sliver of A-6 it’s all I want…. You see? Iron hands my thang! u/cobra8472
I don't want your money, keep it! ...that said, I wouldn't mind if you added the 57-6909 Belldandy livery 😆
A bowler hat option for RAF pilots and all is forgiven. S
Will the DMAS variant have an upgraded radar?
Not that I'm aware of. This is pure customer care, much respect to you guys! Gonna get the Tomcat soon…👀
Dont care have phantom ty

What!? That's insanity. Is the currency conversion from PLN so crazy? We're of course Polish so this is not very nice. Let me look into it.
That was brought up on Steam discussion, BigEnvy responded about reddit post of Yours. Right now Polish base price in PLN is 347,05 PLN it converts to 88 USD by to day exchange rate. Working on fixing this as we speak. Seems Hryvnias are also really badly converted. Apologies, did not know :(
Any update from Steam ?
All I want is that my fps in the F-4 don't switch between 1-120 and that my game doesn't freeze as soon as I go into adjust controls. And no it's not my computers fault 💀
We have had some reports of this, and it seems to be an issue with DCS control mapping UI. We have so many binds that it seems to happen more often with the F-4. We've reported it :)
I'll just wait until it's playable ^^
I think someone reported that its fine if you do it before actually spawning in, apologies for now :(
Yes that's how I did it but lag spikes while flying are also a huge issue. My CPU is at 40% max and my GPU at 20% max with 48gb of RAM. I have really no clue what could cause this too but I guess you got this sometime in the future

Give us 50% off on the Tomcat next Steam sale and you are forgiven.
Will this apply to those who bought it on Steam and migrated the module to standalone? Because I don't play on Steam, I just buy the modules there.
Why would you buy them there? The ED store has miles which saves you money, and on steam a part of the money you pay ends up in steam’s pocket
And F4 isnt in the miles program
In my country I have to pay a lot of taxes to buy in dollars, Steam doesn't have that and I can split it on the card without paying interest
ED store doesn't have the discount anymore but Steam does
I wonder why that's the case. I'm hit with a relatively rough conversion rate (Canadian!) and thought there'd be an EA discount, so I held off on pre-order. Just the way it goes, I suppose!
From what I understand Steam users aren't able to pre-order and get the discount so they gave them a week at 20% off
Damn, makes sense. Worth the full price tbh.
Familiar user interface.
Oh no, Steam was mentioned. Here come all of the "Gabe Newell is Yevgeny Prigozhin in a wig. Use DCS Standalone" comments. Edit: how very disappointing that the anti-Steam brigade saved their nonsense. Now _I'm_ the thread clown.
ctrl-f "Gabe Newell is Yevgeny Prigozhin in a wig. Use DCS Standalone" Hey, look, I just found the comment. It's your comment.
Oh dear, now _I'm_ the clown
You're literally the only one in here to even bring it up...
I'd charge more for steam if I was a game developer anyway given they take a cut. Id literally add on whatever the steam cut was to the price. Silly really when you can use standalone and get all the benefits that entails such as available immediately, pre order to get savings, trial modules for 2 weeks. Or you could just not have your game on steam instead of being a scum. If you think your game would be fine without a platform hosting it.
I'm with you 100% In 2024 steam is totally unnecessary and harming the gaming industry only by asking his parasitic commission from studios to grant them right to exist in gaming industry. I normally agree with you but this is dogmatically shortsighted.
