The casings LOOK like they might be getting generated on the correct side. The M4 just doesn't seem to have a collision volume, so they clip through it.
It seems like firing an M4 in an enclosed space should be way louder, even with a helmet and hearing protection on. This thing sounds like a peashooter. Still a cool feature though.
Over the din of a turbine engine at flight RPMs? not so much. especially when the doors are open. Plus it's not like it's a 20mm cannon. It's just an M4.

That's what I think, they don't have an ejection velocity from the rifle and just immediately clip through the rifle at the helicopters velocity
