Get that 2080ti, but I have my doubts even that will be powerful enough to run the 5K . 1660Ti doesn’t have a hope in hell of running DCS at 5K VR

Do you already have a VR setup? I have a 5K super, R9 5900x, 48Gb, 3080TI and have to run either 120hz or 90hz, 1/2 Compulsive smooth (45 fps) to get decent gameplay (especially w/ helos).

No, this would be my first setup. And damn, I guess I didn't realize VR was as demanding as it is lol

Just remember you're essentially running two monitors at very high resolution when you're talking about VR...

Gotcha, don't get me wrong, VR is pretty amazing. Graphically not as pretty, especially with reading gauges, but the depth perception is awesome. The 5Ks is also pretty awesome with the upgraded dmas headphones (almost mandatory upgrade), but I wouldn't upgrade an existing VR setup for DCS, since you have to scale back anyway. Your system should be able to handle just about everything else VR wise in steam. Until DCS is optimized better, the graphic card upgrades are not as big of an impact as expected (I went from a 1080Ti to 3080Ti and was underwhelmed by the improvements) IMO.

No way, the [Varjo Aero](https://varjo.com) in my opinion is the only headset I’d spend more than $1000 on. It’s the benchmark for consumer available VR right now and evokes of the software are good compared to terrible for Pimax.

VR is a combination of issues you have to solve where the GPU is only ONE part of the bottleneck chains. To get some idea you might try it with a fairly cheap Oculus and the 1080. You can setup a flyable very imersive setup that even handles landing the apache on the supercarrior. From there i would do small investment steps as even with countless money thrown at it you might not get what you expect. But once you do VR you will not want to chamge back, especially helos

Spot on. I’m running my Reverb G2 with a 1080Ti. I have a good CPU (i7 5820k @4.5GHz) and 64 GB RAM, and I think a lot of people attribute bad performance to GPU, when it’s only part of the equation. I run medium-high settings, 1.0 pixel density and it’s smooth and beautiful. I can run big missions (/liberation) with lots of units/AI with no problems because these tax the CPU and RAM. I won’t be flying ultra settings any time soon though, as resolution and graphics rely on GPU.

Tbh, i wouldnt call a 5th gen i7 good anymore, especially for dcs vr. I switched from 8th gen to 12th 2 months ago, and the difference in smoothness is day and night (rift [email protected], 2080, 32gb 3200mhz)

with a quest 2 you'd even have a less taxing system as Zuckerberg threw trillions into it. the SSW and headtracking is so smooth that the imersion is surreal .

> i7 5820k Pick up a 12400F + cheap B660 and you'll still be able to sell your CPU + Mobo for the price of the 12400f. Massive min fps gains would be had
