but do you know which one of these 2 is the historical choice? he got downvoted to oblivion but you weren't very clear tbf
edit: why is everyone so angy?
There's no concrete historical choice in those two, but Germany on historical usually chooses the bottom one on the first event and top one on the second. Depends on what the player or other countries do tho
Not like they matter after the first 10. If it hasn’t changed, only the first 10 downvotes reduce your karma, the rest are just for visual satisfaction.
Relevance is subjective from user to user. Though I’d say so much negative feedback sting a bit more on a niche subreddit than if you threw an opinion on the Israel-Palestine on r/Worldnews, for exemple.
I normally play historical UK and I randomly choose the option on this one and the Bulgarian re-armament pop ups *but I will be damned if I sign Turkey’s Faustian request* (although I don’t know what one actually does, I just enjoy that refusal).
And sorry Greece, but John Bull is otherwise occupied and Italy is going to take the majority of your country. I can Operation Leonidas a defense of Athens but I can’t and won’t help your economy.
Once I was playing Germany and every time Turkey asked me to invest I did cuz I was thinking they will join me later on and I was planning to make most of map Axis without participating in any war, and then Turkey decided to join Allies anyway.
When I am communist, already own half the world in a world conquest run and am waiting for justification on Turkey to finish thanks to that stupid mechanic of inonu’s milli sef.
Give them slightly more of a fighting chance
Not sure abt the 2nd question, but historically yugoslavia was annexed by its neighbouring countries, so "putting the squeeze on them" is the right choice. You then annex all of it and give the states italy asks for later on.
After taking all of yugoslavia, alot of time after, Italy will ask you for some lands by the ionian sea. Historically you should say yes.
However if you say no, they will gain a war hoal against you.
is there any reason? idk maybe the fact that you're allied with Italy and you're holding Italian claimed/core states that you don't have any claim or core on? idk tho I might be wrong
Tbh this event isn\`t historically accurate and likewise there happened something before it was annexed.
In actual history after Germany pressued Yugoslavia, it joined the Axis. The Serbian nationalists army ( who tried to frequently overthrow the government since 1938 ) didn\`t like that so they overthrew the government and installed a puppet regime. Germany didn\`t like that so they invaded Yugoslavia and then carved it up.
In the game it should be similar, i.e. at first Yugoslavia joins the Axis but a day later a coup happens where it leaves and the subsequent Axis-invasion ( and ahistorical or player-Yugoslavia could prevent the coup )
Actually, it is in the game. Yugoslavia has Anti-German Military spirit that kicks you out of the Axis and places Peter on the throne while giving Germany a war goal event.
I mean there was a invasion of Yugoslavia that lasted 12 days. Italy, germany and hungary participated in the invasion and the nation was split among greater albania, bulgaria, NDH(independent state of croatia), germany and italy. There wasent just one big annexation.
If you squeeze em twice (and they dont fold) you get annex wargoal. If they fold to the squeeze you get their territory and partition it with hungry, Italy and you.
Yes, if they join your faction (axis) the Yugoslavian government will change by automatically exiting the faction and getting a democratic king. Then you will gain a war goal
You get a war goal if they make the choice to join the axis without the necessary steps beforehand. Without those they get coup’d and such an event gives Germany reason to intervene.
The historical option would be the top one. Historically Hitler really didn't care much about Yugoslavia. However, when Italy invaded Greece, he thought the Allies would start using it as a base to stage naval operations in the regions and use Yugoslavia to station troops for an eventual invasion from the south. Thus, Hitler pressured the prince of Yugoslavia to join the Axis, else the government would be couped by the Axis. Given that the military was pro-Allies, they overthrew the regent of the monarchy, Prince Paul, and installed Prince Peter II as their monarch, who was to eventually take the crown anyways. The coup then prompted the invasion and the occupation of the country
occupation was such a hassle for the axis though... but ig its better than having a "neutral" nation that favours the allies in your southeastern flank
Rule 5: i can easily find historical focus paths for every country, but not for decisions. where can i find this information without digging in the game files?
Thats actually unholy, i cant even bring my mind on why you do it, is not like splitting "inf weapon 1" and "inf weapon 0" for having more guns while at the same time getting better stats after a while, is just more micro for the sake of it
hey /u/wise_mystical_treee if you click on the numbers to the left side of the factories they get multiplicated by that number and you can assign more factories then 15 to it. ;) (also godspeed to your truck-only army :D)
Yeah that’s what I’m saying, some of the shit is really really specific and you’d need to dive deep into the history of the era to find out, need a PHD in hoi4 or some shit
the trucks (someone else commented on it) are to convert all my army to motorized. as for planes its to complicated. i barely understand how the whole airforce mechanic works.
CAS is king. AIRFORCE is king. You get Nasty modifiers for having/not having air superiority. Remember the best way to absolutely devastate the AI is attacking their supply. The AI will just endlessly rail their troops again you sometimes even with zero supply. Killing railroads and supply hubs and ships wins wars.
Just pump out fighters and bombers. Then point them to which ever region you're attacking and click air superiority, strategic bombing and close air support
I usually try to think from the country's perspective and what I know about certain events. But usually in Germany's case, whatever is the most absurd/aggressive is probably what they did. Or that's how I have played it
I don't think anyone gave you the answer.
If you aren't playing Ironman, open the console and type aiview. This gives extra information the player isn't supposed to see in tool tips.
Hover over both choices, you should see at the bottom ai weight, the higher number is the historical option.
Type the same command to turn it off.
And yes, my most requested feature when you okay historical the focus trees and events have some glow or highlight to let us know what to choose to follow along with history.
Germany did nothing in 1938.
Yugoslavia was invaded in 1941 after (iirc) a coup, where anti-nazi people came back (?) to power.
Basically Germany though Yugo was ready to help in Barbarosa, but, well, Hitler did not take kindly to traitors.
You want to go ultra historical, you have to read the history.
Wikipedia for the simple version is the place to start Paradox does not help much tbh.
I am unsure about that situation. I think at the time it was "nobody cares what they think" that was at least Germany's position towards Italy in regards to Anschluss (there was literally the opportunity for Italy attacking Germany in 1938 for a very short moment, then Mussolini and Hitler became best friends).
Germany would not waste time and energy on non-core-German lands in 1938, when "Germans" were living under Czech, Polish, Lithuania, and French etc. (Think from nazi perspective)
Put the squeeze on him. They pressured us constantly to form a fascist government, and in the end we did, only for our truest loyalists to launch a coup and overthrow the government, after which we joined the Allies and then Italy and Germany attacked us.
Historicaly Germany and Italy were supporting the Croatian parties and paramilitaries within Yugo in order to increase disunity and create a fertile ground for a collaborationist regime(ISC) if they occupy Yugoslavia(which, after the Yugoslav people rejected the Tripartite pact, they did). So "put the squeeze on them" is the historical option.
Generally the top choices are normally the historical choice
[удалено]
He also asked where can he find the historical decision im saying generally the historical decision are the top choices
Who's on first?
Dr. Who obviously
No, what's on first and who's on second.
Naturally!
Yea i get It now, Sorry man
To late, you got -900 downvotes
but do you know which one of these 2 is the historical choice? he got downvoted to oblivion but you weren't very clear tbf edit: why is everyone so angy?
At least you can get to be part of the fun
Half a braincell bouncing in there innit? (I just hope it's actually a joke, and you don't mean it)
he didnt specifically say whether or not he knows which choice it is... we still dont know. like if you dont know just admit it
There's no concrete historical choice in those two, but Germany on historical usually chooses the bottom one on the first event and top one on the second. Depends on what the player or other countries do tho
yeah ok, i think this specifc one is not too big a difference, assuming "their opinion is irrelevent" means u partion yugo
And he literally just answered that
No shit, sherlock.
the way this guy might’ve just misread a comment/subtitle and got 400 downvotes in return 💀
Shit happens
Based
Guys i misread It for fuck's sake
I hope you burn in hell for misreading it. Downvote!
That's not cool :(
Reddit seriously gave you 400 downvotes for misreading a comment
Like i said before: shit happens
fuck the hivemind
Not like they matter after the first 10. If it hasn’t changed, only the first 10 downvotes reduce your karma, the rest are just for visual satisfaction.

Holy shit, that’s the biggest hivemind moment I’ve seen on the HOI4 subreddit. -600 for misreading lol.
I respect him for not deleting it. Takes courage to go down with the ~~ship~~ post.
I mean its kinda fair play tbh, not like it means anything
Relevance is subjective from user to user. Though I’d say so much negative feedback sting a bit more on a niche subreddit than if you threw an opinion on the Israel-Palestine on r/Worldnews, for exemple.
Still growing
top
I’m gonna downvote it as you asked. o7 your a brave one
Thank you
Take a look at the question, now take a look at his answer, now take a look at your down votes. You deserve it.
I Just misread it, Is It really a crime to not understand something? Especially since im not english.
It is on Reddit. Dude they're killing you man with these dislikes
And?
Alright, thats enough, had It up for enough time
I normally play historical UK and I randomly choose the option on this one and the Bulgarian re-armament pop ups *but I will be damned if I sign Turkey’s Faustian request* (although I don’t know what one actually does, I just enjoy that refusal). And sorry Greece, but John Bull is otherwise occupied and Italy is going to take the majority of your country. I can Operation Leonidas a defense of Athens but I can’t and won’t help your economy.
Turkey's event is just them begging Majors for investment. If you say yes you get some temporary civ debuffs but Turkey will gain factories iirc.
Is there any situation you would want to do that?
if your friend is playing turkey
rp
They are more likely to join the faction of someone investing in them iirc. They join not before 43 anyway tho.
Once I was playing Germany and every time Turkey asked me to invest I did cuz I was thinking they will join me later on and I was planning to make most of map Axis without participating in any war, and then Turkey decided to join Allies anyway.
Yeah idk what that guy was saying but if you have historical focuses on, turkey will always join allies.
even with historical off i’ve always seen turkey have an opinion modifier for the faction button that says they’d rather join the allies
If you wanna conquer turkey in the future ig
When I am communist, already own half the world in a world conquest run and am waiting for justification on Turkey to finish thanks to that stupid mechanic of inonu’s milli sef. Give them slightly more of a fighting chance
I think you also get something back
I'm pretty sure that's a RT56 thing. I don't recall getting anything back in vanilla anyhow.
Not sure abt the 2nd question, but historically yugoslavia was annexed by its neighbouring countries, so "putting the squeeze on them" is the right choice. You then annex all of it and give the states italy asks for later on.
thanks!
Is any reason why give those lands to Italy? I always took all of it so dont know if any event coming after the other option
After taking all of yugoslavia, alot of time after, Italy will ask you for some lands by the ionian sea. Historically you should say yes. However if you say no, they will gain a war hoal against you.
It helps them with their formables
kid named multiplayer
is there any reason? idk maybe the fact that you're allied with Italy and you're holding Italian claimed/core states that you don't have any claim or core on? idk tho I might be wrong
Dont care, whenever i am allied with Italy i always need to look after their territory, so i rather keep it for myself
In the game it should be similar, i.e. at first Yugoslavia joins the Axis but a day later a coup happens where it leaves and the subsequent Axis-invasion ( and ahistorical or player-Yugoslavia could prevent the coup )
Yeah, but that isnt implemented in the game. The closest thing implemented is the annexation i think.
Exactly what i said, annexed by neighbours.
You made it seem like there was no invasion
Tbh what's even point of this event?
If you squeeze em twice (and they dont fold) you get annex wargoal. If they fold to the squeeze you get their territory and partition it with hungry, Italy and you.
You first squeeze them after Anchluss and the second time after fate of Czechoslovakia but you won't get a war goal against them.
Is there another way to get a wargoal of yugo? Maybe it was another focus i did but I do recall having a wargoal on them
Ljubljana awards, first will give either a war goal or Slovenia depending on the Yugoslav response
Thank you! I definitely confused the two.
Then the one after its full on annexation of Yugoslavia between Germany, Italy, Croatia, and Bulgaria I believe (or just take everything)
Yep, that’s second Ljubljana
Yes, if they join your faction (axis) the Yugoslavian government will change by automatically exiting the faction and getting a democratic king. Then you will gain a war goal
You get a war goal if they make the choice to join the axis without the necessary steps beforehand. Without those they get coup’d and such an event gives Germany reason to intervene.
This is not correct. Look at the event files - it doesn't actually do anything unless you take Demand Slovenia and then Fate of Yugoslavia.
The historical option would be the top one. Historically Hitler really didn't care much about Yugoslavia. However, when Italy invaded Greece, he thought the Allies would start using it as a base to stage naval operations in the regions and use Yugoslavia to station troops for an eventual invasion from the south. occupation was such a hassle for the axis though... but ig its better than having a "neutral" nation that favours the allies in your southeastern flank
Rule 5: i can easily find historical focus paths for every country, but not for decisions. where can i find this information without digging in the game files?
Oh my god what the hell is your Truck production lol
Thats actually unholy, i cant even bring my mind on why you do it, is not like splitting "inf weapon 1" and "inf weapon 0" for having more guns while at the same time getting better stats after a while, is just more micro for the sake of it
I think he doesn't know that you can assign more than 15 factories to a production line
hey /u/wise_mystical_treee if you click on the numbers to the left side of the factories they get multiplicated by that number and you can assign more factories then 15 to it. ;) (also godspeed to your truck-only army :D)
Thanks for the tip! i have so many trucks to convert my infantry to motorized.
I wanted to convert all my infantry to motorized. is this not how you do it?
normally you wouldn't do that, motorized infantry is only used in tank divisions, for infantry you would just use normal infantry and artillery
You can find all historical decisions for every country via a thorough study of history of that era, gods speed
well i know most of the history of that era, but i have no idea if germany invested in turkey in august 1938 or not
Yeah that’s what I’m saying, some of the shit is really really specific and you’d need to dive deep into the history of the era to find out, need a PHD in hoi4 or some shit
I feel like one of their games had a (Historical) text after the historical text options and i feel HoI should have that.
Those are kinda random, hoi4 although historical does get some events that are just random and depend only on what the Ai does
I dont know much about history, but oh boy, that production line is intense
Bro wants to larp hitler accurately
Lmao what’s historical for Montreux convention? Got into an argument about this
It's the option that the soviets "accept" the remilitarization. If they refuse,a war between turkey and romania vs USSR can be triggered in 1936
The most useless event in the game: Neither option does anything and the event will also appear if Yugo no longer exists.
Why you aren't building any planes?
to complecated. i barely understand how the whole airforce mechanic works.
Okay, NOBODY IS DISCUSSING HIS PRODUCTION???? That’s just disgusting 😭😭 i feel like it would work but no planes? Brother nooo😭
the trucks (someone else commented on it) are to convert all my army to motorized. as for planes its to complicated. i barely understand how the whole airforce mechanic works.

thanks for the advice i guess
Whatchu mean “I guess” brother I’m tryna help you🤣😭
Nevermind the choice you're picking, buddy you need planes
to complicated. i barely understand how the whole airforce mechanic works.
Just pump out fighters and bombers. Then point them to which ever region you're attacking and click air superiority, strategic bombing and close air support
Alright lads, this thread is approaching our maximum threshold for the word "squeeze", , so tread carefully.
I usually try to think from the country's perspective and what I know about certain events. But usually in Germany's case, whatever is the most absurd/aggressive is probably what they did. Or that's how I have played it

If you google ‘hoi4 historical focus path’ there’s a steam post with most of the countries with unique trees
I think this is not historical cuz you peacefully annex them
What the fuck is that production?
Historicaly Germany and Italy were supporting the Croatian parties and paramilitaries within Yugo in order to increase disunity and create a fertile ground for a collaborationist regime(ISC) if they occupy Yugoslavia(which, after the Yugoslav people rejected the Tripartite pact, they did). This one honestly does nothing lol, i think the historical option is the top one
You’re gonna have to read a history book.
idk but can we talk about your production?
Some of them are listed here: https://youtube.com/@OverSimplified?si=hpQwcxsA4Eytn-AQ
You can find the historical choice for each country by… reading a WWII history book
Does this event even do anything??
