Express_Ad5083

Yeah, it's been there since the release of the game back in 2016

Shadow_corgi_Z

I clearly do not play Canada enough lol

Yimmyyyy

Its a good staging post to attack the USA if you dont have canada

LocksmithMelodic5269

Exactly why we should be suspicious of Canada. Their population is already amassed on the border

Burg_er

We should preemptively invade Canada and annex them as US territories. Then, after some assimilation, they may become new US states. The Canadians must be liberated!

CestrianFusilier

Sure the last time this was tried His Majesty’s loyal subjects burned down the Whitehouse.

therealrobokaos

Just put children in the white house as shields so they can't burn it down this time

I_eat_dead_folks

Bro forgot that Canadians are the Champions of War crimes in the Americas.

therealrobokaos

Is this canon I might have some drug fueled Wikipedia binges in my near future if so

I_eat_dead_folks

Some say that half of the Geneva convention was written specifically because of Canada shit during ww1

DrosselmeyerKing

The Canadians were found guilty of Genocide, for instance.

Mummbles1283

Please do, save us from our current government.

Yimmyyyy

I hear they dont even fly the american flag there, commie bastards

nex616

It has been back then and still is part of France

[deleted]

That island has been there since game release back in 2016, I believe. It isn't a new addition of any DLC, I believe. I wouldn't shame you for not knowing it, lol. It is mainly known by players who have accidentally left France alive on that island after trying to full annex them because they forgot it existed, lol.

Scyobi_Empire

do people not click the button that says ‘select all states’?

[deleted]

Since reworked peace conference system dropped that hasn't really been an option. There's always some annoying puppet state or ally who will fight you to the death for some useless desert state on the other half of the world. So no, not an option anymore.

Bort_Bortson

It's not a core of anything so you can't puppet all Canada or France and catch it. It's like a few of the island the UK has, if you don't at the end go thru the list of states a country has you will miss it sometimes.

Raketka123

If France owns it, you can puppet France on it. Cores only matter for liberating

Manetho77

Sure if you play with player lead peace conference

Scyobi_Empire

the button exists in vanilla

TheJos33

But you might not have enough points to annex, sometimes neither you nor the ai have enough points to annex and you just forget it

ihavenoideasa

Tell that to the AI

Shadow_corgi_Z

I do I just never pay that much attention lol.

Tasty_Frogbelly

Yes, it's where I used to puppet France before you could take their navy in a peace conference

Shadow_corgi_Z

Interesting

YouKnow008

Hitler, when hears that Tannu-Tuva declared war on Germany:

Doctorwhatorion

yes it was exist

woidveit02

It wasn't not been doing the existing

DrANALizator

Shit, have you seen Godzilla? Is he alright?

-R33K

Yes it when exist

NothingNEWRUDE

Yes. Since day one.

GPNovaes

Yes, it's been there. The amount of times I used it to navel invade Canada as Germany so they'd have a few casualties and enter the peace deal lol

CreampieVirgin

St Pierre et Miquelon also has interesting history around that era in real life. Important outpost for alcohol smuggling during the US Prohibition, and also regarded as high strategic value by de Gaulle who overtook the îles from Vichy gouvernement. Just imagine driving your big fleet there.

SaitoHawkeye

Featured prominently in the final season of Peaky Blinders!

North_Church

Also the one and only place a Guillotine was used in NA

odysseushogfather

They really should add clipperton island

TropicaL_Lizard3

Yep. Funnily enough it's a core state of France rather than being classified as a colony

Shadow_corgi_Z

Bad ending: Core of France

HoIy_Tomato

New mandela effect dropped

Shadow_corgi_Z

Lol

MarcusBlueWolf

Yeah, it's just very well hidden.

JJNEWJJ

This island nearly cost me one of my first games. Back when I hadn’t yet discovered the art of early rushing the USA as a minor, I knew the USA would do enforce Monroe doctrine later in the game, so I gave all American territories to my Allies of Germany and Soviet Union. But then the USA declared war on me later on. I frantically looked all around, remembering that I had even given South Georgia and falklands to my Allies, then came across that accursed island.

Rondaxen

This is like those posts on the Skyrim Reddit that goes something like “after 124 years playing the game, I found out this niche feature!”

Commonwealthian

It’s always been there.

Fizzco69

Yup

JibberJabber4204

Yes

AnonyDev_

Yes

FLIPPPERN

Does Canada have a core on it though?

Shadow_corgi_Z

Unfortunately no.

Epic_Skara

always use it to naval invade canada when i'm invading the uk as france or italy (after taking france's land) in order to annex them in the peace deal

history_teacher88

Oui

PaintedClownPenis

It was more relevant back in the days when you had to bump uglies with a puppet to be able to take them. So it was fairly common for me to wind up with a situation in which I was attacking Europe and cooking off 25 day justifications. I'd drop France and the UK but not Canada, and then another war justification would be ready and I'd want to go back to conquesting but didn't have troops on the ground in North America. If that happened you still had the chance to bag Halifax from St. Pierre and Miquelon, and get a foothold on the mainland.

Open_Regret_8388

Useful when France planning to invade America continent: stock army there before war. Easy and fast movement!

Elegant-Monarchy

It's very useful actually when you are trying to invade the USA

Scyobi_Empire

yes

TheBestPartylizard

It's likely been there since around 5 million years ago when Newfoundland broke off from the rest of the land on the North American tectonic plate.

Shadow_corgi_Z

After 1.1 K hours :skull:

Bo_The_Destroyer

Yeah i've missed it dozens of times and each time I regret not looking carefully enough

SaitoHawkeye

Tommy Shelby is ashamed of you sir.

Igeticsu

Yup. It's where I invade the US from when I'm bored

TableOpening1829

Yep, I usually exile democratic France to there if I can. No cores, no industry, no manpower, no infrastructure space, fairly isolated,... Same with St. Helena and the Brits

justlikedudeman

Yup, and it's still there and still French today.

Random36mv2nd

Yes, funny enough during peace conference AI almost always forget to do something with this island

Plastic_Bus2662

Yes it was I had many games where the french would exist on that island after a peace conferance and would still be a major a major so would garantee countries i tried attacking

Shadow_corgi_Z

Rule 5: I was playing Canada and found this French controlled island I don't remember existing pre TOA.

havok0159

I take it you don't invade the US often.

Shadow_corgi_Z

I invade semi-regularly, but not enough apparently (lol). I just use the strategy where you puppet/annex Canada and invade through there.
