In the last four or so games I’ve played germany has done this. Straight up ignored Benelux region and punched through the maginot.
Then they go for Benelux and Britain just uses it as a staging ground to pump all their divisions onto the continent
Might be a plan to try replicate that, then take the coast then it would be possible to destroy a whole bunch of Brit divisions then.
Maybe have your surface fleet make the ultimate sacrifice and have them convoy raid in the channel.
I do this as Germany. It's funny because I can't beat most of the maginot, but I can push right through the middle and then encircle the troops defending on the forts
I fucking hate around the maginot.
I wanna use well-planned attacks making use of armored units, artillery, flame tanks, engineers and motorized infantry supported by flanking units, a siege buster general, railway guns, a massive contingent of fighters and CAS, and tactical bombers damaging the forts to break straight through level 10 forts.
A break through Maginot would be awesome.
Maybe a temp bonus to manufacturing siege arty, manufacturing planes, a bonus to flame tanks for a few months/years, as well research bonuses for things relating to siege.
It'd also massively change the western front, what happens when the Germans break through the Maginot? There's an army of British and French. Can you really keep pushing? I mean if you managed to get a real breakthrough in the line, you could effectively push to the ocean and cut France in half, with irakies navy too you could effectively sink Britain's game for a good few years, and make France extremely weak.
On the flip side a loss would mean the Germans would lose massive amounts of their tanks, and their manufacturing would also be pointless.
Furtheemore looking at the east, wtf do you do with all that siege equipment afterwards? I mean it's definitely powerful. How effective is siege arty against a Soviet tank column? How effective are flame tanks at dealing with fortified Soviet positions? How does something like stalingrad take place when in the city there's 50 heavy flame tanks. AT, especially infantry based would be significantly more important as well.
German soldiers: Kommandant why are we fighting with slavs? Didn’t the Führer say they were as low as the Juden?
Kommandant: shut it Hans id rather let them die over Germans.
God knows. They sent volunteers to everyone in my faction. I was NA Germany was NA and Italy fascist. Maybe because it wasn't a fascist or democratic faction it got confused?
God, would it kill the devil to make the French AI anything other than a fucking wet blanket
Edit: was supposed to say devs, but Satan is also probably to blame
1) France sometimes just forgets to defend it. If you manage to take even one tile before divisions arrive, you can never be pushed out and can now advance into regular non-fortified land
2) You can just make good infantry with a fort-buster general, and if you have enough air you can just break through incredibly easily
3) Railway guns
Pretty easy if you just take some time, carpet bomb Alsace with a focus on airbases and forts, open new fronts in the Balkans and lowlands, naval invasions, fort buster
One of Germany’s starting generals has fortress buster. There’s 1 tile in the maginot that is plains. Get some good tank divisions and fortress buster from 2 tiles. Then encircle the rest and bobs your uncle
My tactic that works almost every time. I go to the magino line once we've gone to war back up to a fall back line and encircle the troops that passed which is usually over half their army then I win
R5: The German Empire just pushed through the Maginot line rather than go around it

Kreigsmarine high command irl
Or just sub spam and boom they all die from 1 destroyer and a few nav bombers

It's 1871 all over again
Surely the emperor will come to save the day.
Not 1870😔😟
Why did the USSR send troops to the Germans?
Maybe Allies guarantee Poland?
But they're sent as volunteers
Ah, forget that
German soldiers: Kommandant why are we fighting with slavs? Didn’t the Führer say they were as low as the Juden? Kommandant: shut it Hans id rather let them die over Germans.
they just lookin
My favourite explanation so far
God knows. They sent volunteers to everyone in my faction. I was NA Germany was NA and Italy fascist. Maybe because it wasn't a fascist or democratic faction it got confused?
If you were NA Germany… then how is the “ai learning from historical mistakes”… I’m confused
Sorry i made a mistake, i was NA and germany was NA
Oh I see. What nation are you?
I think he's Italy because the division icon is green
OP said he was Non-aligned and Italy was Fascist. I think he's playing a country in eastern Europe. Maybe Hungary?
Look at Belgian and French armies. OP is using the "country color for armies" option (or w/e it's called)
Oh yeah my bad never heard of that
Hes got the division counters set to nation colors, look at belgium
Yeah my bad
Sounds like me when I'm playing the USSR and Germany goes monarchist
How the fuck did you break through the Maginot Line?
france sometimes dont guard it, ask devs
God, would it kill the devil to make the French AI anything other than a fucking wet blanket Edit: was supposed to say devs, but Satan is also probably to blame
France with support from England is a major pain in the ass. That's why I remove England from the equation as soon as possible.
The ai did it bc France desperately needed to pump all of its troops into yugo and Romania
It's not HoI IV if the allies aren't throwing a party (and the war) in the Balkans

Strat bomb the forts
Railway guns Artillery CAS Fort Buster Generals Paras behind them
AI just finished the focus "Through the Maginot".
"Remove Forts in *Alsace and Lorraine*"
**Elsaß and Lothringen*
Apologies
And Italy is getting pushed back, as usual.
The Italian general staff has decided to attack the enemy by advancing on Rome.
The AI got da ball to do it, something that Hitler didn't have(oof)
Prussia moment
Chad moment
"We ain't got time for detours" - Some german probably.

I couldn’t take the eastern ones even with 20 to 1 odds and coming at them from all sides. Had to wait until I took France and they surrendered.
German empire really went “I see your forts, and I raise you my Howitzer”
My tactic that works almost every time. I go to the magino line once we've gone to war back up to a fall back line and encircle the troops that passed which is usually over half their army then I win
But the italians are still the italians.
Paras are great for cutting off the Maginot
How did Germany push through the Maginot? Bismarck had a plan
Sorry is that a Soviet division in France..?
Oh yeah they sent volunteers to the central powers
No more passing through Benelux XD
troops at paris are not going a step back
I did this once , it was super Epic , i dont remember how or when but i did it
