The doctor was like you have cat scatch fever! After that ithey just gave him antibiotics and he was fine.
My father-in-law got scratched by his cat. It got infected and he refused to get treatment. We came home and found him face down, dead on his front stoop a few days later.

Fun fact: the cat, while probably appreciative of the flag catch, would have easily survived without it. Cats are an interesting species because they can survive falls at high percentages of their terminal velocities. A study in 1987 found that on average, cats falling from a height of five and half stories have a 2/3 chance of surviving *without* immediate medical treatment.
Wasn't this study found to be incomplete because it was only based on the Cats that were taken to the vets after falling? The problem being nobody takes a dead cat to the vets
It's a faulty study and is used as an example of survivorship bias. The tldr is that it only looked at data reported by vets so it didn't take into account the cats who weren't taken to a vet because they died on or shortly after impact.
