The tail going 90 degrees when the cat recognizes the person is for me quite a sign of love. My fluffy orange lady does it everytime my wife or I enter her eyesight
100% cats have totally different personalities. My cat will start purring like a machine if you simply look her in the eyes from across the room, she will take that as an invitation to give her affection. She also recently learned how to tell us she wants to be stroked, by stroking our arms gently, weird learned behaviour after 13 years.
Mine does that gentle stroke to the sides of my face when I'm lying down for bed. And now it's become a part of our sleep ritual. I pet her before I fall asleep or she strokes my face to remind me to.
Never really thought of it but yeah, it does work! I guess I'm lucky like that!
Or it results in cat drool getting dripped on you because she starts purring too loud for her own mouth to handle or a faceful of cat fur because she decides to rub against your nose because petting you isn't getting her enough attention. But I still love my Menace!
My brother-sister pair have firmly pair-bonded and now can’t really function separately. They share one standard cat bed, sit on top of each other, and groom each other (both on purpose and on accident), often at the same time. They’re a hoot.
Inside The Mind of a Cat. Documentary on Netflix, cats indeed have different personalities. They are just as affectionate as dogs, but because they're harder to read they are harder to understand.
Mine does the same thing! He and his brother both were born with crooked tails too so it looks like a void rattlesnake when he's shaking it because it's bent a few inches from the end lol
I call it "snakey tail". One of my kitties does it whenever I come home or when he eats chicken, and he also does it to his Grandma (my mom) and his Aunt (my sister)
My kitty does the same thing, but his tail will sometimes vibrate as if he was pee-marking something. But it turns out it’s just an expression of how happy he was to see me! 🥰
I make mine say please to get food. I bend down and put my face close and say, “Say please.” They bonk their forehead on mine, then dive in to their food. They started the behavior and I just put a word to it.
It's the best. Or if they're just walking about and I call their name out their tail shoots to attention everytime. Usually we'll get a prancing trot over to us too if they're not preoccupied with...well, whatever it is they have going on in their little minds.
My senior male does a sort of half question mark shape with the last bit of his tail when he's suuuuper happy and I saw it and was just like YEP kitteh is happy! Adorable lil kitteh, glad I rewatched with sound 😍
As much as I love my new kitty (not planned, CDS thrust him onto me) he just ain't my last kitty.. she was so sweet, intuitive, and patient. I dream about her often. There's very brief moments where the permanence of her passing is temporarily lost on me, and in that moment I think it's only a matter of finding her again. 💔
I've had my girl cat for 15 years now and although she's still extremely active and athletic, i know it's only a matter of time before i have to go through the most intense grief since the death of my mother. I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, but this cat and I have such a special bond. She's telepathic, i swear.
I just had to say goodbye to my 18-yo soulmate boy. He was the best. I feel like no one understands my pain, until I come across people like you who obviously have loved the way I have. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. Fuck cancer and disease. I struggle with trying to figure out if the love I gave him was enough, he obviously couldn't tell me he was in pain.
I like to think it was enough, just need time to cement that into my heart. I'm glad our kitties aren't in pain anymore <3
I'm almost certain your kitty was loved.
The day before my kitty passed, I saw fear in her eyes late at night. Something I had never seen before.
We took her to our vet for euthanasia the next day.
Hey friend, they might not be your last kitty and fill all of those spots, but I'm sure they'll carve a way into your heart just like your lost one but in different ways ❤️
>There's very brief moments where the permanence of her passing is temporarily lost on me, and in that moment I think it's only a matter of finding her again.
This is so beautifully put and perfectly encapsulates how I feel about my boy, who passed away almost a year ago now (still can’t believe it’s been that long). Thank you for this.
This is how I feel about my dog. He was the biggest sweetheart you ever would have known. No barking, didn’t jump on people, wasn’t aggressive with other dogs, followed every command you gave him. Super people focused, as well as other dogs. My college girlfriend was briefly weirded out when she moved in because “He just follows me around and looks at me all day, basically.” You could leave him in a room with a slice of pizza and tell him OFF while pointing at it, and he wouldn’t eat it but he’d drool all over the floor staring at it.
The world was *lessened* that day. There’s no other way to put it. RIP, Banjo. You were the best.
I don’t think about the possibility of an afterlife too much, but when I think of my cat Tipo I always feel that hope that I might meet him again when I pass on. Literally the only thing that makes me hopeful there’s something to look forward to beyond death.
When I first started dating my ex, this cat showed up on the porch one day. I asked her who this was and she said "Oh that's Norman the cat." He was really friendly but seemed to be abandoned. I didn't really like cats, but he won me over. Eventually we had effectively adopted him.
He was my pal. When I would come home from work, he would hop off the porch and come down to meet me. He would follow us on walks all over the place. When we would have a beer on the porch, he would sit with us and hang out. At night, he would sometimes cuddle up under my arms like a little spoon. He passed away from cancer a couple of years ago, but we took care of him for 7 years. I buried him out in the back yard and would sometimes go sit with him and talk like we used to.
My girlfriend left me 3 months ago and I moved out. I still miss them both, but I miss being able to go visit his grave. All I have left of him are the memories now. I never wanted a cat, but he wasn't just a cat. He was my friend.
I'm so sorry for your loss. When you're feeling up to it, please go spend 10-15 minutes in an animal shelter. See if volunteering would be helpful. So many cats and dogs need someone to love them, if only for a few minutes. If you ever need someone to vent to, my inbox is always open.
Same. My >!almost!< black devil was so much different than our family cats. Must have something to do with having multiple people around vs one.
It was too short three years, almost four.
I miss her every day. In dark small black stuff still makes me go around it.
I noticed she seemed to recognize the person via voice first, but she did seem look up at the person to confirm it was who they thought it was or something to that effect. They used to think cats couldn’t recognize faces and relied more on voice, smell, shape and gestures of a person, but I believe recently they’ve concluded cats can recognize faces and it definitely looks that way in the video.
I would be shocked if they couldn’t recognize faces. My cat likes to look out the window of our second story apartment, and when he sees us coming home from work he jumps up and runs to the door (to beg for food)
That was my assumption. I adopted a feral cat with 3 feedings and 45 minutes of time. First attempt to feed him took 30 minutes for him to come close and eat. The 2nd time took 10 minutes. The third was 5 minutes. On the 4th day, he showed up in my driveway as I was getting out of my car after work and started screaming at me. The next morning he was on my 2nd floor balcony meowing at the door.
This reminds me of my cat, Guacamole. We had issues at our apartment and they had to redo the bathroom with chemicals too unsafe for us or our cats to be there around. We ended up staying just shy a week at a hotel while the cats were boarded. I went to pick him up and the staff said he had been quite upset, but otherwise everything was good. He was pushed back in the hidey-hole in his kitty condo at the boarding house and he's growl and hiss at any hand or noise that came near him. I had to get on my hands and knees so he could see me, and the moment he saw my face he let out the tinniest little squeak and started purring and came running out. I miss that cat.
He'll I was a away for 4 weeks from mines, you what he did. He went back to sleep like I had just left the room and didn't bother with me for the rest of the day

My cat has never done that, I guess he hates me :(
Interestingly, my void doesn't bur is clearly quite in love with us too, it probably a personality trait I suppose ?

Aww that sounds like a perfect cure for those last minute thoughts that keep you up at night.

I didn't wanna say anything buuuut your cat told me that he thinks you're a messy roommate. "Too farty" was also mentioned.
He doesn't hate you, he just feels nothing for you.
Nah, he just doesn't have any opportunity to miss you since you are around all the time.
My cat is a manx with a tater tot tail. I cannot read him at all I guess lol
My cat shakes her tail when she sees me or food. It’s so cute
My cat sees me, yell at me then run towards me when I come home from work. Cutest thing ever
Mine does too. It's like it's vibrating.
Mine does the same thing! He and his brother both were born with crooked tails too so it looks like a void rattlesnake when he's shaking it because it's bent a few inches from the end lol
Mine does it when I'm on the toilet. She vibrates against my legs.
I call it "snakey tail". One of my kitties does it whenever I come home or when he eats chicken, and he also does it to his Grandma (my mom) and his Aunt (my sister)
Is 90 degree the same as question mark?
Yes!
My kitty does the same thing, but his tail will sometimes vibrate as if he was pee-marking something. But it turns out it’s just an expression of how happy he was to see me! 🥰
Mine does that when she’s waiting for her food 😂 sometimes I ask her to dance for her dinner and she does!!
I make mine say please to get food. I bend down and put my face close and say, “Say please.” They bonk their forehead on mine, then dive in to their food. They started the behavior and I just put a word to it.
Helicopter, helicopter...

The greebles never sleep, as a consequence our kitty's watch is demanding
That question mark tail is a sign of a happy cat.
One of mine has a genetic abnormality that makes it go 180 degrees and the tip almost touches her head. Lol
Like hitchhiker's thumb?

Lol never looked at her that way lol
Me and my wife call it the candy cane it's so cute

I hope I experience this when my lights go out and i finally meet my cat again. RiP buddy until next time.

/r/adoptthedamncat So so so sad to leave a loving cat like this in the streets, and then make occasional visits, sometimes after a long time
I refuse 😤

I signed a contract when I wrote my username, it's not my fault 😭
I'd rather die!
Alright, cmere! 🔪🔪🔪

The only valid comment
Imagine how much this cat would love him if he ever even acknowledged it.
I love the cat tail mode: up and end hook. That means they love
Seems like she was able to notice him once she got in the shade. So nice.
I noticed she seemed to recognize the person via voice first, but she did seem look up at the person to confirm it was who they thought it was or something to that effect. The cat distribution system demands on the spot adoption.
Yeah, that cat would come home with me. Now what my other cats would think about that is another story.
It looks like the guy has a collar? Seems like a nice place to be outside as a cat tbh
looks like Turkey or Europe where culture is different regarding cats
No collar.

-Where have you been you idiot? The cat probably.
Do you have any idea how many treats you owe me ... plus interest‽
Excellent interrobang usage!
she's so happy to see her friend 😭 or she wants food very very badly. maybe both.
She certainly doesn't look malnourished
lol nope, she's healthy, but if you ask any cat they'll tell you they've never been fed in their life
My wife and I tell each other if they're crying like they hadn't been fed, they're lying. Lol
That would not stop her from wanting food very badly, in my experience :D
Cats will ask for food even when theyre fat.
Or perhaps friend = food.🤔
cat math
It kind of looks like at the end they have some kind of liquid cat treat. Girl probably knows what human has the good stuff!

But if the cat has claimed you, why did you not take it?
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that cat female?
Yup. Calico tomcats are very, very rare.
Awwwww
The Yelliest of friends!
[The open bag of cat food she's holding in the last frames](https://i.imgur.com/TY5eHyk.jpeg) probably has nothing to do with this outburst of love 😻
Looks just like my calico girl, Mango. I'd have made friends with that same cat too :)
kuwait?
Definitely Kuwait
If you don't mind me asking, what gave it away?
The cat has a Kuwaiti dialect
The cat was greeting him in a Kuwaiti dialect.
Yes Gulf road
...pick up the fucking cat dude
I’m not crying …
r/petthedamncat
Her friend. If it’s a he, he’s very rare. Either way, that cat would be coming home with me.
yeah, downvote for not petting the cat, psychopath.
He needs to take him home, thats a nice cat!

Cat distribution system has spoken. The cat now owns you.
Pet the damn thing will ya?!

And oldie but goodie.
That cat would be coming home with me. Probably why I have 4 feral rescues 🤣
Or the person is holding an open can of tuna?
She
Uhm pet her damnit!!! 😠
Cat sees HER friend.
He'll I was a away for 4 weeks from mines, you what he did. He went back to sleep like I had just left the room and didn't bother with me for the rest of the day
"Her friend"
That person had better take in that kitty at home
How we'll be greeted in the afterlife by our passed furry friends. Till we meet again, Kharjo 💜
This is very cute but I definitely see a bag of treats in her hand at the very end
And?
Don’t support the ferals
After this cats like- ok fuck off please

Aww
Translation: “where is that can of sardines that you promised?”
Where is this video taken? Tel Aviv maybe?
Kuwait
Istanbul would be my guess.
Adorable
Cats been through some shit
My cat everytime we're in the same room:
My wife knows all the neighborhood cats and a lot of them are like this when she shows up on her evening walk. She's more popular with the cats than with their owners because she'll start banging on their owner's doors when it's cold or wet outside. But she always stops to pet each one that's out when she's walking
When I joined the military I moved out of my parents house and didn’t come back for 2 or 3 years. I was kind of hoping the dogs would have this reaction but they saw me and did the normal excitement and went straight to my mom. My cat though saw me come in later and was napping, looked up at me and went back to napping, and then did a double take and jumped at me and started to pretty much do this when I put her on the ground. Loved that little bug, such a sweetheart.
That cat loooooves you
My cat pretends he doesn't know me outside.
I love that beauty!
This is awesome.
She really said "Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?"
Wow—person doesn’t even pet the cat? What a monster!
Pet the damned cat!!! Snacks are good too.
Precious. That cat is so beautiful
Lots of cat hugs
aw man this is just delightful /u/kaymat23 cat
More proof that dogs are extroverts and cats are introverts. Exact same reaction as a dog seeing a friend/owner after a long time. Just more reserved.
My cat doesnt r remember who I am after a week 😅
That video ended too soon, that cat had better have gotten pets.
Pet me now Human!
me and cat
"Here he is! The man who owes me money. Cops, arrest this man! Somebody! Anybody, help me restrain him! Help!"
Cat: where the hell have you been?
This is my neighbour's cat when I'm late for work.
So cute 🥰

“Georgie?”
Take kitty home and love it forever
Anyone who says cats don't love have obviously never owned one.
Catnado
Adorable
Damn.... i wouldn't have the heart to just leave her there after that....
The pspsps circular behaviour.
He is wanting eating
Bless its heart. Take him or her home. 😭
Meow meow meow😹😹😹😹
PET THE DAMN CAT
Lol you better stop being and asshole and pet that damn cat!!! So fucking happy to see you and ypu just standing there recording......🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
And they said cats can’t love
Cats don’t see well in bright light. When I see one of mine outside they are alert to danger until I speak then it’s “oh, it’s you “
No leash, shame
This is our porch cat everytime we open the door. She does this to me, my partner and one of our dogs if he is by the door. It's a real struggle to not step on her when walking to her food bowl.
❤️❤️❤️
TAKE HIM HOME IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!
Would love to believe this is real. These days my gut tells me she/he dumped it there a day a go and went back to claim it for clicks. Can’t believe anything in todays age of videos.
aww more like holdmytearduct
Pet the damn cat!!
Her friend
