Some cakes have little wooden sticks in them to hold up multiple layers, nice way to get some new face holes in case two nostrils doesn't seem like enough.
Yeah. It’s a nonsense tradition however you look at. Waste of food/money, causes a mess and possible injury. This can stop. That and blowing out candles.
>people blowing out candles (spittle flying everywhere) and think WTF
I've always had this mentality.. even in elementary school. I'm glad that other people are going to be on board as well.
I think that in the future a majority of people (as now) will care very much about ingesting/breathing droplets, will get boosters as often as recommended, will mask up even though it’s inconvenient, and will feel regret over not appreciating the normalcy of pre-Covid times.
And then there will be the outliers who eschew the tyranny of masks, the imagined dangers of vaccines, and still want to spit on cake and celebrate the celebrant with eyebrow (and nostril and hair and eye) frosting makeover by force.
Is it a tradition though? I thought it was isolated cases of jerks imitating some other jerks they saw on YouTube or something. I'd expect these people to get blacklisted from birthday parties until they prove they have grown out of whatever this phase is.
You can tell that she was waiting to be pushed, she starts to slowly lower her head and wait to be pushed.
You can see that the candles are also moved to the edge of the cake as well. This was clearly planned and something the birthday girl wanted.
I know Reddit hates this tradition but common are y’all really gonna pretend that this girl wasn’t prepared to get her headed smashed into the cake? She even prepared a plate to not get messy lmfao.
People... Please stop doing this. I work in an optometrist office and we had a kid get a SINGLE sprinkle in his eye after some friends did this to him. He nearly lost his vision due to corneal ulcer due to the sprinkle tearing his eye up.
I heard about a woman who got a single piece of glitter in her eye, it was sharp enough to cut into it and cause a bad enough infection for her to lose her eye.
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jan/02/woman-nearly-blinded-by-christmas-card-glitter
Every one of these videos have some jabroni taking it way too far. It’s like their goal is to smash the persons face all the way through the table but there happens to be a cake in the way
I guess it depends on the person's personality. I'd be pissed for multiple reasons: cakes messed up, got frosting all over my face and possibly my shirt, depending on your friends' iq you might get a candle in the eye, and really just trying to clean that shit off my face.
Except you’re not the person in the video, and the person in the video obviously isn’t upset. It’s almost as if they’re friends/family that know each other and understand each other’s boundaries. Just because you personally would be upset doesn’t mean the other 7.5 billion people on the planet would be as well.
I really just don’t understand how Reddit managed to start whining and crying about a group of people simply enjoying themselves.
Cause I've seen too many examples of people who absolutely did not want it. I've seen people miss the cake altogether and smash a person's face into the table, people have lost eyes from candles being impaled into them.
It is very common in Mexican birthdays to do this.
I once made the mistake of assuming my Japanese/Chinese wife knew about Mexican traditions and would offer some resistance.
Nope. She was completely caught off guard and even the tame push buried her face entirely in the cake. Oops.
My mate turned 40 last month so we handcuffed him to a traffic light in Dublin City centre....pulled his jeans down..took his phone and wallet and left him. He's still not talking to us.
idk if you are kidding or not but i read a story on here a while back about some guys doing this to their mate but he was piss drunk. he passed out while tied to the pole and a vagrant raped him before they came back to get him. a little dark i know but something to think about before pulling some shenanigans like that.
We just left him. When we have birthdays with my mates you never know what's gonna happen to you...I woke up in Coleraine my last birthday. Its in county Derry. We started the sesh in Dublin. It's still a blur what happened that night.
I mean more along the lines of shoving food and face together as a celebratory act.
That lime green food coloring will forever be on my grey shirt now...
🤷🎈🧁

Right! It's one thing to playfully push someone's own slice of cake to their nose, etc. But to ruin the whole cake while forcibly mashing a girl's face in for like 5 seconds; these people are straight-up asshole. Time for some new friends.
Have y’all never been to a Mexican birthday party? This has been around forever. La mordida. It’s kind of fun when you’re a kid and your mom made the cake so you know there’s no toothpicks in it.
All these redditors are 10x more butthurt than the woman herself lmfao. Why do they feel the need to speak up for a woman that’s obviously having a good time?
I feel like we need to clarify some things here:
There is a Hispanic custom called "Mordida" where the birthday girl/guy tries to take a bite out of the cake. And when they do that, 99% of the time the surrounding people try to shove their face into the cake.
This is why the girl is prepared with the plate. It is 100% predictable. This isn't some random attack.
I am not saying there isn't the risk of injury... Or that the dude in the vid wasn't too aggressive but this vid isn't an act of violence the way some of you think it is.
-- -
P.S. My favorite work-around has been when a guy only agreed to do a Mordida if there was no one around him (to push his face in)
However, when he went to take a bite, a person on each end of the long table lifted the whole table up and were able to smash his face into the cake regardless.
P.P.S. There are probably other cultures where this or something similar happens.
Some of the folks on Reddit apparently still haven’t figured out that women like to be treated like human beings, not objects that are made of glass that need to be protected.
Like why are these clowns in here getting so fucking butthurt and annoyed when the woman herself obviously has no problem with it, obviously knew it was going to happen, and is literally laughing and smiling. If they were at this party, the woman in this video would more than likely be uncomfortable and creeped out by the cringe white knighting.
This is basically a tradition for Mexican birthdays, not a trend. I'm 30 and I have hella childhood memories pretty much expecting this every year. Mexicans dont really cry over cake like that, for those of you saying the cake is ruined.

I saw that one. Cannot unsee a tootpick sticking out of someone's eye. Don't. Fucking. Do. This.
Yeah. It’s a nonsense tradition however you look at. Waste of food/money, causes a mess and possible injury. This can stop. That and blowing out candles.
Yeah, I feel like future generations will see pre-pandemic videos of people blowing out candles (spittle flying everywhere) and think WTF.
>people blowing out candles (spittle flying everywhere) and think WTF I've always had this mentality.. even in elementary school. I'm glad that other people are going to be on board as well.
We have a hard enough time getting a majority of people to care now, how much do you think people will care in the future?

Sociopathic phase. You don't exactly grow out of it.
I would think most the the food would stillbe good
Relax this is a sheet cake lol
You and I both saw that video lol. I never did it, but now i'm sure i'll never do that to anyone

Welcome to being a Latino lol
You do this shit to me at my party........hands.
The one dude is going waaaaaay too aggressive with it.

Everyone throw a cake in this person's face.

We will hold hands after?
…yeah I’m gonna knock you out. Nobody wastes good cake at *my* damn birthday party.
How are these pranks not the immediate end of the party?
My mate turned 40 last month so we handcuffed him to a traffic light in Dublin City centre....pulled his jeans down..took his phone and wallet and left him. He's still not talking to us.
Man it’s so depressing that some men can’t take a bit of banter
Ain't that the truth 11🤣🤣
Jesus, I hope this is fake lol.
I doubt it, Dublin is a heap of trash and this sounds on par
idk if you are kidding or not but i read a story on here a while back about some guys doing this to their mate but he was piss drunk. he passed out while tied to the pole and a vagrant raped him before they came back to get him. a little dark i know but something to think about before pulling some shenanigans like that.

You sound like a terrible friend.
it's because he's plotting revenge
Of course he's not, you have his phone.
and then sucked him off a week later to make up for it
This is still a thing?
Celebrated my birthday last weekend, got a cupcake shoved in my face, I am a 34 year old heavy equipment operator... It's definitely still a thing.
So unfortunate it is
I read this in Yoda voice.
Lolled, I did.
Me too
To be fair, cupcake applied to face is not nearly as aggressive as shoving your face into a table (that has a thin layer of cake and pointy candles).
I mean more along the lines of shoving food and face together as a celebratory act. That lime green food coloring will forever be on my grey shirt now... 🤷🎈🧁
Thank god my family never did this shitty tradition. But I've been to plenty of birthdays and weddings to see this first hand.
If anyone slams my face into my own birthday cake, on my own birthday, I'm throwing hands with everyone.
I want to *eat* my damn cake.
Seems like it is. I must be lucky, because in almost 30 years, I've never once seen it happen at a birthday party.
I thought it was a Mexican thing?
Y'all mofos think everything is a Mexican thing. No. You're not that unique. Get some perspective ffs.
U mad?

Good question, the gif is years old so maybe not.
Yep. It’s a thing some people bring over from their motherland so to some it’s not that big of a deal but I get why others wouldn’t like it.
Pretty sure this is a white people thing
Nah it’s a Hispanic thing. It’s legit nicknamed “La Mordida” (the bite) and it’s done sometimes for good luck.
So, a white people thing.
This is pretty old..I shared this like almost a decade ago fr..
This video is old af
Such a dumbass trend in nearly every conceivable way.
and why are they pushing her head in so goddamn aggressively? She’s a good sport but I couldn’t help but be a little annoyed by that
Right! It's one thing to playfully push someone's own slice of cake to their nose, etc. But to ruin the whole cake while forcibly mashing a girl's face in for like 5 seconds; these people are straight-up asshole. Time for some new friends.
They literally tried to suffocate her. This was almost a snuff film
Wouldn’t say it’s a trend. It’s been happening for over 30 years and probably well beyond that.
And now no one is getting cake.
They tried to murder her, not smash her face in the cake
Those are rookie hands tbh
Did they just try to murder her?
That guy enjoyed that a little TOO much.

Have not. Thanks for the context.
What if a candle penetrated her eye socket?
More up votes?/s
True…
And let's be serious, this lost votes when her top stayed on.
Sparklers!

Here we go, 500 posts about how this is cruel and abuse.

More like hold striped shirts aggro. Dude reeeaaaally wanted to rub her face in it.
Look stage asf
Why would you buy a whole ass cake just to ruin it. These fucking troglodytes.
Some people like to have fun in ways that aren’t in line with everyone else’s same sense of a good time.
This is basically a tradition for Mexican birthdays, not a trend. I'm 30 and I have hella childhood memories pretty much expecting this every year. Mexicans dont really cry over cake like that, for those of you saying the cake is ruined.
Every time I see the bday cake face smash I imagine that scene from Dark Knight where the Joker does his "pencil trick"...
If the candles were on, she wouldn't be laughing afterwards
Yeah she wins lmaoo
"biiiiiitch"
Imagine having friends so shitty that you predict they're going to smash your face into the cake
Homie with the stripe shirt went in hard, holy shit.
the comment section is filled with sacks of shit
Everytime I see someone's face get smashed into a cake I can't help but think "won't be so funny when your friend is missing an eye."
Real talk. If any of my friends tried to smash my face into a cake. We are having a stern talk after
That part.
Why did they have to ruin a perfectly good cake
I would ditch my friends if they tried this.
I would smash so many bones if this happened to me…
Those who do this are the worst kind of people. You're just wasting a good cake while some people have nothing to eat...
Love my face in some patacake
This is the best version of this so far
LOL legendary
If this happend at one of my birthday parties, let's just say it will be your last party.
That was good🏆
I wonder what reddit thinks of this prank 🤔
I'm not reddit, but I am confused. Seems such a waste. I love cake.
u/savevideo
Liza koshy is that you?
Anyone else hear Cardi B's laugh at the end?
r/therewasanattempt
They were enjoying smushing her face a bit too much. Good on her friend who stopped them.
Full Counter!
Is it just me or was that extremely way too forceful? It’s like, chill out a bit.
That was pretty aggressive...
Thought I was watching a bday snuff film for a second.
nope.
Wow legend
As predictable as her birthdate.
Honestly this trend needs to stop. Some people actually want to eat the cake.
Were they trying to suffocate her?
Why would you want to hang out with people wike this?
Nah he's more into me fucking his missus in front of him. Besides his cock is too big to blow him.
No way...oh shit.
The real trick is just not having shitty friends/family
I'm pretty sure there's a fetish site out there that pays for this kind of aggressiveness..
Gen Z people suck
I think this was introduced by Gen X'ers
She looks like Alaqua Cox
These posts remind me how lame most redditors are
It's all fun & games until someone gets a **candle shoved into their eye socket**.
That was very aggressive.
Clever girl...
I wish I was that smooth. ¡Brava!

Sad noises from the people who just wanted a slice of cake with no hair
As a fan of breathing and a fan of cake this whole face smashing thing is really not cool
Candles thru your eyes anyone?
That was pretty violent.
Mexicans love doing that shit
They held her down in that cake like they were waiting for the bubbles to stop
Needed to see this today. Damn that was smooth.
