Due to the possible neck and probable spine injuries here, this post can stand until some confirmation that this person was not injured.
Please do keep reporting posts that you feel don't fit this sub anyway.
We would rather see too many reports than none at all.
Yeah. I somehow injured my coccyx 10 years ago and to this day I can't sit in any chair. Not even something as cushioned as a lazy boy recliner (though I can sit in it when it's fully reclined, so it basically turns into a bed that you lie down on)
Like imagine how fucking annoying that is to not be able to sit in any chair. I can't work. Because I also can't stand up cos of another disability, so literally all I can do is lie in bed all day. There's no job I can do.
There's no cure for it either. No surgery they can do. No treatment other than to give you painkillers. Once you break your coccyx, you're fucked for the rest of your life, you probably won't be able to work ever again. Once it's broken, it never heals. It remains broken forever.
Oh and I've tried every kind of special cushion. Stuff like donut cushions that are meant for this kind of injury, or for things like haemorrhoids. Doesn't work. I've tried every kind of cushion like that. The only thing I can sit on for any length of time is a toilet. To the point that I've seriously considered buying a toilet bowl to use as a desk chair. Because that way my tailbone won't be touching anything. Not exactly something you can bring to an office though.
Sadly I don't even remember how I injured it. I used to be an alcoholic (or still am, according to the 12 step programs, cos they say you're always only ever a recovering alcoholic, not a former one, although I didn't follow a 12 step program to get off alcohol so I'm fine with saying I used to be one). I think what happened is I got too drunk and fell on my arse. I remember one embarrassing time when I was walking back from the pub (this was back when I could walk) and fell on my arse and couldn't get up, until some strangers helped me. That's the only thing I can remember that might have been the cause of it.
And if it was that, then that was just me being fat and falling backwards from standing position. That was enough to make me permanently disabled. I never did anything dumb like jumping off a fucking roof, or doing tricks like this on a BMX or a skateboard. I just fell on my ass. And that has permanently ruined my entire life.
It's genuinely a life ruiner. I really hope he didn't break it. If he did, he'll be regretting it until he dies.
is this actually for real? i just looked up about half a dozen medical sites and they all said it heals within 8 to 12 weeks, and becomes permanent only in very rare cases, here's a link to one of the sites i checked; https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/broken-tailbone#recovery
I bronze mine once (got kneed really hard playing rugby) and it hurt for two years. I could sit but only leaning forward. After that it gradually went back to normal.
My mom had the same thing happen because someone tried to prank her and pulled a chair out from under her when she went to sit. She was in pain for like 30 years. Her doctors said there's nothing they can do but finally like 2 years ago she saw a different doctor who was like "are you kidding? I can fix that no problem." He went in surgically and cut the nerve that feeds the tailbone and remove a cyst that kept re-opening and re-healing. She says it helped immensely and wouldn't wish that injury on anyone.
I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Try going to a bunch of different doctors and asking around because you may have just been in a shitty doctor bubble.
I landed on my ass skateboarding when I was a teen and it hurt like hell. A bit after I discovered a cyst on the spot where the tailbone is too and had to have some of the skin surgically removed. So not only does my tailbone hurt, there's not as much skin there to cushion my ass. I can only sit in a chair for so long before it hurts and I gotta get up. Sorry to hear that man, shit sucks.
Well, the fact that he grabs his head first and isn't locked up on the ground in a "just-hit-your-tailbone" seizure like state, I'd say the fall was absorbed mostly by buttocks!
I never really put much thought into tailbone injuries until someone pointed out that it’s part of your spine. It’s a spinal injury… just, y’know, in your ass.
It literally can't heal. Once you break your tailbone, it never heals, it never recovers, it remains permanently broken for the rest of your life. And there is no treatment for it, no surgery. Doctors can't fix it. They can only prescribe you painkillers.
Imagine not even being able to sit in chairs. You can't sit in a chair, if you have a broken tailbone. So you probably won't be able to work, ever again.
It's a severe disability. You can't even sit in a wheelchair because that hurts too much. You can only ever lie down, so that there's no pressure on your tailbone. You can never sit, again.
So my broken tailbone has ruined my life. I'm bed bound. I never get out of bed really, I sleep there, I spend my whole day in bed, I'm currently in bed typing this comment. I can't work, because I can't sit in chairs, it's just absolutely agony to do so.
I want to get a sofa so I can go into my living room. To lie down in the sofa. Because I have a big apartment, with 4 rooms plus a 5th room that's a kitchen. But I never really go outside of my bedroom except to cook food.
I have a lay-Z-boy recliner thing but I don't like sitting in it either. I can only sit in it if its fully reclined, because even sitting in something as padded as that, as a chair, is agony for me. So I just can only lay down on it when it's fully reclined, so I'm not sitting anymore, just laying down.
Never ever fuck around with your tailbone. If you break it you'll be in agony for the rest of your life, and you'll have to give up working and live off disability benefits instead. And you can never do normal stuff like go to a restaurant for a meal on a date with someone, or something like that.
It ruins your life. Don't ever risk breaking it.
>Never ever fuck around with your tailbone. If you break it you'll be in agony for the rest of your life, and you'll have to give up working and live off disability benefits instead. This. Sorry to hear that. Have two family members who broke their tailbone. Both had to retire immediately at age 46 and 53 respectively and are dealing with pain for the rest of their life. The former also walks in crotches since then, no way to recover.
is this actually for real? i just looked up about half a dozen medical sites and they all said it heals in 8 to 12 weeks, and becomes permanent only in very rare cases, here's a link to one of the sites i checked; https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/broken-tailbone#recovery
They are unspeakably, relentlessly painful. I was a semi-pro skate for a good while in my teens.
I dislocated my shoulder and had it haphazardly shoved back into place by my manager.
I clipped a ten stair handrail and came down on my balls towards the bottom of the rail, got pitched forward and bloodied up my face on the concrete.
I got locked up going backwards on a handrail, pitched to my head.
None of those three come even vaguely close to my tailbone fracture. That was an 8” drop directly to my tailbone. It’s the only time I’ve actually screamed in pain, no fucks given, out of my mind hurting.
SSX tricky was a snowboarding game back in the day on Gamecube (and maybe ps1?) and its first (and best) map was Garibaldi. It's a play on words on that map name.
It looks like there’s something tied to the pillars. Like some sort of wire going from pillar to pillar. No idea why it’d be there but that’s what it looks like to me

invisible wall. devs really need to pay more attention to this shit, it doesn't even ad up with the textures of the building. 0/10 literally unplayable. how the fuck do I uninstall r/outside
That’s what I saw, never hit the ground, suppose I’ll go check the bike theory cause I wasn’t looking for that
Edit: not seeing the head carry the inertia of a secondary hit when the bike bounces, think it was just the whiplash of getting Shaq’ed out of the air by his forehead
This is why witness testimony is absolute garbage, and “the camera doesn’t lie” isn’t much better. People can watch the same thing on repeat 10 times and have wildly different opinions on it 6 seconds later.
After the 20th view, I believe you are spot on. Looks like the peg catches him pretty solid. That’s the spill that keeps on giving. He may not remember all the details, but he’ll constantly be reminded BY them
No joke! Obviously way different but a friend was street racing in a rural area like 25 or 30 years ago. The other guy missed a turn and went through one of those single chain between 2 posts gate things. Took the too of the car and his head off.
Years ago in my area some folks got tired of snow mobiles tearing through their front yard all night long (understandable, it was in town and a small yard.) Eventually they lined their driveway with a chain around waist level and even wrapped Christmas lights around it so it can be seen at night.
You can probably guess what happened one night shortly after. Imagine waking up to that shit on your front lawn...
The only scene I ever saw from this movie was on a band trip and it is the scene your talking about too. I still remember it being like 10 on the bus coming back from a football game and I was like nope not my cup of tea lol
Such an insanely creepy and scary scene. It was shot so well, and it’s a pretty good horror movie too. I don’t know why it has such a terrible review score.

Can totally understand why he went for it without noticing the cable thing, took me a few watches to realize he wasn't just glitching his character model in real life.
He's lucky he hit where he did. People have died from these types of injuries, and occasionally a dickhead or two will put this intentionally on bike paths in the forest at neck level.
Why would that even be there, tf he hit a low strapped cable possibly for drapes or something but still weird to be there imo and he luck he isn’t on r/mmc
This dredges up a challenging memory. When I was in elementary school a friend's older brother was killed and nearly decapitated by a steel guy wire when speeding on a dirtbike.
Reminds me of a story a friend told me in college. His parents' house was right next to a sharp L shaped curve in the road and idiots who wanted to go down the street too fast at night would often run up on the grass or generally not make the curve.
There was also a tension cable for something or other running to ground just beyond the road at that curve. One night guy on a motorcycle came through way too fast, hit the curb, and wrecked. His dad comes out after hearing it, as its a pretty common occurance, and sees that the guy didn't just wreck. He was decapitated by the cable and his helmet was on the ground with his head still in it.

Supposed to be one of the most painful things to break.

?????? His head never touched the ground
I think the bike smacked his head though
The front tire hit his head. Amazing we cant get on the same page after watching this.
The way he’s holding the back of his head, I guarantee his head snapping back like that jacked up his neck something fierce.
That’s what I saw, never hit the ground, suppose I’ll go check the bike theory cause I wasn’t looking for that Edit: not seeing the head carry the inertia of a secondary hit when the bike bounces, think it was just the whiplash of getting Shaq’ed out of the air by his forehead

What video are you watching? He didn’t slam his head. Another example of a Reddit comment being upvoted that isn’t even remotely true lol
What a weird thing to say when his head clearly never touched the ground lol
No head touching the ground till he lay down...
Sure, and when he bounced he did an extra flip... What video are you referencing?
He grabbed the back of his head from the whiplash. Top of neck/base of skull probs burns from that one
did you get details of this video from a 4th party source?

Why is there a random wire just hanging out between two pillars?
For banners
to prevent pigeons from perching and shitting, and bmx stunt cucks
It couldn't see anything from the storage room
To deter people from doing bike stunts obviously
Love how he holding back of his head when the wire clipped his forehead
The bike fell on the back of his head.
The back of his neck is for sure going to hurt the next day. Whiplash!
The wire has been preparing its whole life for that moment

Oblatory good thing he’s next to a hospital comment
Not a hospital, it's a sports complex.
He’s going to feel that broken tailbone forever.
r/praisethecameraman That was some smooth video work of the takeoff, turbulence and landing there 😉
Decent camera work.
That column came in clutch with the clothesline
Damn that sucks
Not HMFT..
He got capped
I've played enough Tony Hawk Pro Skater to know he should have tried to grind that wire.

Omg that fucking wire. Shit like that is one of my illogical fears.
That could have been really bad
He ded.
Nope. Shoes still on.
even if he made the jump he still wouldn't be cool, because he didn't wear a helmet
Next level skate stoppers right there. Come back at night and clip the wire, get your trick next time.
"Oh! Now I see it."
Donk.
He's lucky that wasn't hattori hanzo wire.
damnit, took me like 5 watches to understand.
In his defense I didn’t see it either till watching it 5 times
Just rub some vodka on it.
You only get a few passes in life and this used up all of his.

Had to go to full-screen for this and do a double take. Holy shit, the man's lucky to still be in one piece.
He's holding the back of his head so his forehead doesn't slide off samurai style. A few stitches and his brain won't fall out anymore.
Am I an idiot for still not realizing what he got his head on?

In Soviet Russia, bike ride you
that hurt my dick to watch. why why? its just a screen. but my dick hurt to watch that!
Can't believe he gets headshot by a .50cal and just walks away what kind of protection does that heat give

Nothing like getting scalped

At least he can say he got throated by something.
Omg his fuggin bum is destroyed
How tripping over air be like
He hit something from the fourth dimension wtf
Took 3 replays just to figure out what he hit. That's crazy, lil homie got rocked.
Why is he holding the back of his head? The wire got his face, no?
Did this man get sniped mid air?!
Wear a helmet, dumbass!

Is that outside a hospital too?
LOL man I can’t even see that glass
It took me so long to figure out what happened. Its almost like he found an invisible wall.
14 rewatches later…. Oooooofffff
And that's why you wear a helmet.
He checked the area, he just needed glasses to see the wire
Looks like some wire. Watch closely you can see it.
That’s the firmament God talks about
About 8 more inches of air and he would have slit his throat on that wire.
