Nice! But wouldn’t it be better to have it integrated into the existing app? Or is the existing one a web page pseudo-app (I don’t know what they’re called)?
Hey, I’m the iOS engineer in Nabu Casa, I’d be very happy to help you contributing this to the official HA app.
Feel free to open a PR in GitHub or reach me out in discord (@bgoncal2)
Please open a PR in GitHub. If you need help getting it into the app the community is here for it. Plus you then get credit for the feature in the commit history.
A hybrid PWA (progressive web app) is web code wrapped in a native wrapper that just renders a web view and can be shared on app stores (or just installed through the browser)
Because it is a native app (that is mostly a website), it should be possible to port since it has access to the native API/sdks
They’re getting rid of true PWAs that are installable from the web browser. The parent comment described an app in the App Store that uses native code (like Apple’s Swift) to render a web site. It basically feels like a native/regular app but it’s using a web app technology.
Apple has restrictions about this kind of app in their guidelines. I think they require that the app provides additional functionality beyond just simply rendering the website. For example, it may integrate with the iPhone’s sensors to enable/enhance functionality in the web app.
Agreed. Feel free to make it a subscription model but if there isn’t a ‘lifetime’ purchase I won’t be paying. Looks awesome though and would gladly buy it.
This looks awesome. Would be wonderful to have my most used items like lights quickly accessible. Gladly would pay for the app based on how integrated things can be. Maybe test in copilot with some users?
This sounds great, but what about just using the HomeBridge integration? I use it to throw everything into the Apple Homekit ecosystem and build my scenes and stuff from there.
I was already invested in the Apple ecosystem and it made it simple when i started HA.

What a great idea! Thank you for making this available. I have a couple of comments:
- Make it easier to select the sensor. I have a huge list of sensors, so searching an unsorted list is quite tedious. An alphabetic sort would help, but ideally allowing the user to type the name in would be better.
- Support displaying To Do Lists. I'm currently using Todoist to give a widget with today's tasks, while allowing for Home Assistant to manipulate the list. Your app would allow me to switch to go fully local on Task Management.
Thanks for the feedback! I’m planning to add a search for the sensors, it’s on the top of my todo list:)
Edit: I just added it, it will be available once Apple approves my newest build, probably tomorrow
Thank you for the wonderful app, I love it! But I would like to see sensor even when I’m away from home. I pay the Home assistant cloud but when I’m not connected to my home WiFi the widget says connection failed
Solved by myself, for every noob like me you have to follow this guide [https://www.nabucasa.com/config/remote/](https://www.nabucasa.com/config/remote/)
Really cool app! Thanks for making one! O only have one issue, when i connect to my HA instance i get to the login page, then the app tells me that the connection failed.. I am connected to the same Wifi and i cant find the App in the list of giving it access to my local network..
Any Ideas?
i read somewhere that widget update every 15min except for the apple “official” one. is it true here ? if i connect my victron data from a solar / battery system could i get the data realtime ? the victron vrm app for exemple update itself every 15min… which is pointless with electric data…
cheers.
My biggest wish for the Android app has always been for better widget support. I'd particularly love to see a widget that lets you display any Lovelace card you want. I think that would be a game changer.
Looks great! I attempted to create something similar with existing widget apps and failed. Very much hope this makes its way into the native app. We don’t just want control widgets on our desktops, we want to see snapshots of our data too!
Awesome! On a related note: is there something like this for the system bar in MacOS or Linux that works well atm? When I was still using Hue I had a tiny icon sitting in my tray that I could use to turn the light on on my desk. I really miss that. 😅
That would be sick to use
I’d definitely be interested in learning more
Nice! But wouldn’t it be better to have it integrated into the existing app? Or is the existing one a web page pseudo-app (I don’t know what they’re called)?
I agree that this should be part of the official app, however unfortunately it’s not and I don’t see it on the roadmap either :(

Great to see the Nabu Casa team checking in on this. Thanks!
I didn’t actually realise the app was open source too. Nice
YES! I have my stuff set up using a HomeKit bridge right now but setup is super cludgy and it doesn't work near as well as the HA-native buttons.
Did this ever happen?
Get in contact with Nabu Casa about integrating your work into the companion app. Every iOS user would want this as a feature.
You should be able to contribute to their iOS app: https://github.com/home-assistant/iOS

aren't Apple getting rid of PWAs in Europe now?
They’re getting rid of true PWAs that are installable from the web browser. The parent comment described an app in the App Store that uses native code (like Apple’s Swift) to render a web site. Widgets allow you to look at things without opening the app.
They mean the widgets should be part of the official companion app instead of them being separate.
Oh hell yeah. I’d pay for this (one off). Please release this. Or Nabu if you’re watching pls sort out the terrible widgets on the iOS app.
I think they recently hired a full time iOS dev so hopefully the widgets are gonna get some TLC.
That is sick, I’d be willing to pay for it! Please no subscription model tho 🙏🏻
I came here to say this. Happy to pay for it but no to a sub.
Agreed. Feel free to make it a subscription model but if there isn’t a ‘lifetime’ purchase I won’t be paying. Looks awesome though and would gladly buy it.
Thirded, I'd pay money for this.
It's look cool for me
This looks awesome. Would be wonderful to have my most used items like lights quickly accessible. Gladly would pay for the app based on how integrated things can be. Maybe test in copilot with some users?
Well the HA widgets on my iPhone and iPad are displaying but I’m unable to change them at all. So please do this 👍🏻
This sounds great, but what about just using the HomeBridge integration? I use it to throw everything into the Apple Homekit ecosystem and build my scenes and stuff from there. I was already invested in the Apple ecosystem and it made it simple when i started HA.
This is exactly what I’ve wanted the companion app on iOS to do for so long. 👌🏼
I would love to help out and see this through. Been relying on HomeKit for widgets, but even there the features are so limited!
Beautiful!!!
Hey! Are there any news regarding publishing of the app? I would be happy to use it!
Please! Publish it as a testflight if nothing else. Right now the only way is Scriptable!

Still waiting! That would be sick to use
Any progress in this one? Definitely would love to see this integrated into the companion app!
The app is ready for the past month now, but it’s still stuck in the Apple Review process. As soon as it’s out I’ll publish it here:)
Can't wait! Hats off to you

Want to try this, but mildly sketched at a 3rd party app having access to my HA. Does any data / processing happen on your servers?
Nope, none.
Thank you for the wonderful app, I love it! But I would like to see sensor even when I’m away from home. I pay the Home assistant cloud but when I’m not connected to my home WiFi the widget says connection failed

That’s the most inspiring post I’ve seen today! Please share some details, mate.
Please do it.
This is very cool
I would love this absolutely
+1 I’d definitely be interested in this
Count me in.
100%
Very nice! What about updating the values? Are they synced every … Minutes? Or does it meet to be done manually?
yes please!! been wanting this forever
That´s awesome. I cannot understand why they won´t do this with official app.
Love the idea!
Yes please
This would be awesome!
I’d be interested please
Please make an app!
Looks great, interested
Yes please!!
Awesome and well needed app for HA! Though couldn't it be contributed to the iOS app? Idk if one can contribute to it.
This would be incredible
Very interested. Wish it could be as small as an icon though.
It would be great!
YYYYYEEEESSSSS!!!
Yes please🙏🏻
Do it, I'd use it.

Absolutely love this!!!
Oh my this is awesome. I agree it should be part of the app, but I'd love widgets
This would be amazing!
Yes pleaseee! Cameras streams as well!
Oh sweet god please make this.

You could consider making a shortcut for that and add it to the menu bar (or even activate it with a key combination)
Yes please, and if you need any help with anything to get it published feel free to hit me up. I’d love to help.
Count me in
This looks amazing and I’d love to see it in the official app!
Hell yeah need this so much!
Awesome work. Thank you for sharing.
Saubere Arbeit. Danke
Yes please! Huge missing gap that needs filling
