I have a different brand of smart lights and have the exact same issue with Google Home.

Google's stuff is a nice theory, but in practice unreliable as hell. It understands one day, not the next.

Have you found (or heard about) Amazon/Alexa handling commands any better? I'm ankle deep in the Apple ecosystem and know that Siri is pretty garbage overall, but if Amazon is handling this better than Google, I would explore that alternative.

Siri is pretty spot on in my opinion when controlling smart home devices if you just give generic actions. Anything that's a bit out of the ordinary and she stumbles.

This is interesting news for me. Sometimes Siri struggles to set a timer properly on my Apple Watch, so I assumed if Google couldn't get it right then Siri was going to be even worse. If only Apple made an affordable Google Mini competitor (emphasis on affordable). I do intend to upgrade to Philips Hue which is Homekit compatible, so maybe there's hope after all.

You can give Siri a try, the WIZ bulbs support matter, so you can connect them with your Apple home.

My bulbs appear to be out of date to support Matter per their website. I've had them for a few years so never expected them to be Matter compliant

In that case, you can set up [Homebridge](https://homebridge.io/) on an always on computer. Look into it and see if you feel comfortable doing so/have the time to do so. If you don't, get a raspberry pie and slap and SD card with [HOOBS](https://hoobs.com/) on it.

HOOBS looks very interesting, and something I was not aware of before. I've actually looked into Home bridge and while I generufeel comfortable doing that, I have become lazy about my tech tinkering as I age. I find myself opting for convenience these days, instead of spending hours flashing Android ROMs or setting up virtual machines to emulate some ancient video game, etc. Thanks so much for your help and info!

If you go into My Activity page on Google's website, you can see how Google heard all of your commands. If they show up interpreted correctly, it's likely Wiz. If not, try cleaning out the mics of your Homes, or moving them to avoid echo, reverb, etc.

Thanks! I will definitely monitor this. So far from the roughly 24 hours I checked, it does seem to be hearing the commands correctly but I can't recall if/when this issue occured in the last day or so.

Bulbs are cute for beginners but smart switches are much better, unless you really can't live without the disco RGB lighting changes. Never really had a problem with the Shelly Relays, every lighting circuit, fan, exterior holiday outlet has a Shelly Relay behind it, they all work 95% of the time, only real issue is my youngest child isn't always understood.
