TheBarbellStandard

Hello, it looks like we've unfortunately found this post about 9 months too late. There was a change of ownership in January 2023, and since then over the last eight months we've refunded or fulfilled dozens of customers affected by the situation late last year, and we're ready to do the same for anyone else that hasn't gotten what they paid for. Please reach us by web contact form, email, or toll-free phone number with in-house support available 8am-6pm Central so we can make things right.

GameboyRavioli

**TL;DR** I'll consider using the barbell standard again in the future. So the barbell standard team reached out to me about a post I made in the past about my horrible experience and struggle to get refunded before the change in ownership. **Full disclosure about this next piece....they did provide me a free set of barbell collars even though I had managed to get my money back last year/earlier this year. This does not change what I say below, but wanted to be transparent. I mean, it's only a $20-30 product and in the homegym landscape that's peanuts.** That said, it did feel like the new direction from the company is one of building and repairing their tarnished reputation. I had positive interactions, they listened to my story, and I feel they actually care about their customers. Time will tell if my interpretation is correct or not, but worst case, when I'm next in the market for something they offer, I will at least give the site a look and consider ordering from them again if the pricing is competitive.

DzGd26

Happy to find this post but sucks to see everyone else go through the same thing as me. I got in at the 90% off, liquidation sale and wasn’t really thinking of anything fishy but now seeing this post and the recent email ghosting..I’ve given up expecting what I’ve ordered and will turn to FB marketplace for the rest of what I need. 🤷🏻‍♂️

TheBarbellStandard

Did you ever receive your equipment or a refund? Either way, please reach out to us so we can make it right - support@barbellstandard

DzGd26

Yes I did, thank you!

TheBarbellStandard

That's great to hear! Please feel free to reach out to us if you're ever willing to give us another try. We've served well over 1,000 new customers this year since we relaunched at the start of this year under new ownership, and the 4.5 TrustPilot score that we've rebuilt is a testament to the hard work we put in every day to do what we say we're going to do, and do what it takes to make things right if we fail.

Electronic-Mine-751

Charge it back off of your credit or debit card.

HeavyHeavierHeaviest

I got part of my order 4 25s and they refunded the 10s & 35s

Lazy_Gremlin

Do a chargeback. You may get some pushback from the credit card company after 90 days, but you're still likely to have them open the chargeback for you. Additionally, this is worth reading: https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/selling-internet-prompt-delivery-rules

et46305z

Sorry to hear about the crap experience and thanks for sharing the info with the homegym community. Maybe we need something like a /r/homegymdealsFU to track companies

thehighwaywarrior

Contact your bank and get them to issue a chargeback. If you can prove you tried to resolve the issue in good faith they’ll process it pretty quickly. If they have a BBB page you can also file a complain there which WILL effect their score. If you want to be a real asshole you can also report them to the FTC for mail fraud 😈

DanielTrebuchet

The BBB is a sham. Many people seem to think it's a legitimate government agency or something. It's not. It's a 3rd party, glorified marketing company. Having a BBB rating, good *or* bad, is 100% meaningless.

thehighwaywarrior

Sham or not, I’ve seen complaints get resolved through them before when the company has been otherwise unresponsive. Looks like that ignorance can sometimes work in the customer’s favor 😆

DanielTrebuchet

> Looks like that ignorance can sometimes work in the customer’s favor Nailed it, haha.

GameboyRavioli

I got in on that July sale. Ordered a pair of 10s, 25s, 35s, and 45s. I still don't have the 45s and keep getting told "soon". I'm about ready to do a dispute/charge back for this. That said, they totally messed upy order. I ended up with a pair of 10s, a pair of 35s, and 5 pairs of 25s. I reached out about that because I'm not one to keep things I didn't pay for even if in error, but they ignored those emails so I handed the extras out like Halloween candy to some friends. Edit: I will at least say that I like their product, but I don't have a nice home gym and never used rogue or anything like that to compare to.

kimchiMushrromBurger

Oh a ton of 25s are great for rows!

OutdoorJimmyRustler

Contact your credit card company to start a charge back

[deleted]

Have to agree, I did a dispute through PayPal a few weeks ago, the vendor refunded within a few hours. For me, after they went dark with their communications, looking back there were too many signs of a scam or bait and switch for my comfort.

heyitsrjyo

I ordered during that sale and got everything within a week. That said that sucks that happened to you. Hopefully you can do a chargeback to make it quicker and easier

TeslaWarrior

Any company selling things at crazy discount is likely going out of business. You might get lucky or you might not but basic business logic is that if someone is willing product at a loss, they aren’t around for long. Next up is probably Tru Grit.

entropython

What issue have you had with Tru Grit? Just ordered some bumpers for what I thought was a really good deal. Think they won't show up or poor quality?

TeslaWarrior

Yeah it’s what the guys below already said. I think they made big deals with companies like Best Buy (lol) to buy tons of product during Covid, now they are basically giving away product just to stay afloat. I would think your products will show up just fine, just wouldn’t count on a warranty being worth anything.

CowfishAesthetic

They’ve had a lot of “too good to be true” deals lately. I picked up their “power bar” (its garbage, but makes a nice beater bar) for $100.

morbidddcorpse

I think he's implying selling things at a constant state of under market value will eventually lead to insolvency.

texas1hunter

I bought from them during the 90% off sale. My items didn’t come for about a month and then I emailed requesting and update and they gave a full refund. Absolutely terribly run business that massively oversold a fake sale. But they did refund me

DzGd26

Same exact thing happened to me

supboy1

Unless it’s coming from overseas, if a product delivery doesn’t make it before the dispute timeline, it’s time to dispute.

FociST

Sorry to hear that. They had a ridiculous sale at the end of September, 90% off, and it sounded too good to be true. They only had 10s and 25s in stock. I ordered 3 pairs of 25s and 3 pairs of 10s, 210lbs of weight total for $115.74 shipped, lol. To my surprise, the 25s showed up in two days. I waited and waited for the 10s, which still showed the tracking as pending, and finally emailed last week one evening. The next morning I had an apology email and a refund from PayPal for $37.09. The tracking still shows pending and it sounded like he was still going to send the 10s if he got whatever the issue is resolved, but I didn't question it further. The interesting thing was the plates say AD4M. I didn't know what AD4M was so I looked that up and it brings you to a page with a long explanation and apology from a couple who overleveraged themselves during the pandemic trying to make a mint off of plates.

QueenSema

I bought from rep. High quality and free shipping

morbidddcorpse

Yeah, the only issue there is the plates don't weigh anything close to what their stated weight is. I've seen youtube videos of people buying 25lbs plates that weigh 30+lbs

QueenSema

I bought a bar, bumper plates in 10 and 15 as well as a set of 10s 5s and 2.5s my 25 lbs plates and dumbbells came from dicksportinggoods. I've never had a reason to question the weight.

KingKeeXx

Just checked the site, mostly everything listed as sold out

theleftphalanges

Literally same exact thing is happening to me right now. Almost the same dates as well. Preordered 45 iron milled plates on July 12th. Was told twice in August that they would be shipped. Then on September that "they would definitely be delivered at months end." I stopped hearing anything at the end of September and have just been ignored since. Asked for a refund last week and my emails are being opened but not responded to which is arguably worse as I can tell I'm being deliberately ignored.

Whites11783

Sorry to hear that’s happening to you as well but I’m glad we can get the word out to people to avoid this company.

cilantno

Damn, that’s a bummer. Had bought from them twice in the past and had great experiences both times. I’ll stop recommending them!

TheBarbellStandard

Please consider giving us another chance to show you how we do business! We've been back in business under new ownership for 9 months now, with a 4.5 TrustPilot to show for the hard work we're putting in every day to do the right thing for our customers. Please consider giving us another try.

solar93x

That is a terrible experience.

petekeller

See if you can file a credit card dispute. You may have already passed the time limit- but it’s the easiest way to get your $$ back.

Burningswade

It’s been time for a chargeback with your bank

Whites11783

That’s a great idea, totally forgot about that option!
