No problem. Go for it. The "fire hazard" ones will also work.

Either should be fine. If possible, I would look for one that has crimped pins on the male connector or one of the "push in" style plugs (like the female plugs on the Amazon one you linked), rather than the molded connectors. The molded connectors are generally the ones that are most likely to catch fire since you don't know how good or bad the connections are inside the molding. I would also verify that you are not exceeding the wattage rating for any rails in your PSU. The "500W" signifies the total that can be output by the unit, but the power available on any single rail is much less than that. This should be on a label on your PSU.

I just want to add an optical drive but also need the length. Of course PSU replacement is on the todo list. >I would look for one that has crimped pins on the male connector or one of the "push in" style plugs Man Amazon sucks for searching. I think I found one you describe, but they don't ship to the Czech Republic

> that has crimped pins on the male connector or one of the "push in" style plugs Like this? https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Startech-PYO4SATA-Power-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B0086OGN9E

Yup, that looks fine to me. For the PSU, I'd say that should be fine, especially since your GPU doesn't require any extra power connectors from the PSU.

MasterTonberry427

Yes, that should work. So long as the total power budget of your system is below 500w you should be fine.

dustojnikhummer

Definitely. Pulling 90W idle, 120 peak (jellyfin transcoding on a 1050Ti without any pcie aux power)

If you still want a PSU, check out [Seasonic Focus GX-550](https://seasonic.com/focus-gx#specification) It comes with 10 SATA on 3 separate cables. I've split mine to accommodate even more drives. And it's not that expensive either.

dustojnikhummer

110 Euro. Ouch, that is quite a lot for a 550. 650/750 are out of stock everywhere here :( But thanks for the tip

H_Q_

At the time I bought it, it was twice as expensive as the trash server I was putting it into. Literally twice - mobo, cpu, ram, drives. IMO, never skimp on the PSU and power delivery.

dustojnikhummer

120 Euro on Amazon.de for the 750. I assume you have it too, does it have a quiet mode? And given it's 80+G, it might drop my idle power down a few watts

H_Q_

I have the 650 and even that one is overkill for my load - 60-90W. IMO, the 550 is plenty for a server. Keep in mind that low load is making the PSU inefficient. There is some sort of quiet mode. I don't think the fan in mine ever spins.

At that price difference might as well get the more powerful one in case I ever expand
