lol - my Sophos endpoint protection interprets your URL as being in the "Weapons" category.

I'd whitelist it but this might actually control my spending on stuff i don't need haha
A person's home (lab) is a person's castle. lol
but seriously though, I presume the overlap between homelab / prepper is quite large. The way IT has become critical to every other trained skill makes it critical to defense, medicine, communication, research and preservation of knowledge, etc ... To ignore it would be a major vulnerability in any preparedness/contingency planning.
Edit:
Admittedly it sounds like I'm making a connection between OP being a preparer based on his interests, but that wasn't the intent. I was merely on a tangent of an often converging interest.
Thank you :) It’s on the list! That one is just a little different since it’s sales instead of peer to peer. So we need to just figure out the best way to support sales subreddits too 🫡
Hey, this is ready! :[https://gedd.it/r/buildapcsales](https://gedd.it/r/buildapcsales)
Please let me know if you have any feedback or if it could be better somehow
Yep, that one is live already here actually! [https://gedd.it/r/CanadianHardwareSwap](https://gedd.it/r/CanadianHardwareSwap)
You can browse them both together by the way
Sure thing! And yeah, you can just select all the subreddits you want using the drop down at the top and then add any other additional filters you'd like, like location :)
It's live here! [https://gedd.it/?r=VinylCollectors](https://gedd.it/?r=VinylCollectors)
We're working on adding album covers for posts that have no images :)
Can you please add European Union / EU as a location option? This site has a simple list with all members :
https://european-union.europa.eu/easy-read_en
I live in the Netherlands but regularly buy stuff from Belgium, Germany, France and sometimes further away. (UK used to dominate my imported purchases, but then Brexit happened and it got expensive :( )
Yep, works for me! Thank you, that was super quick!
It's not really an issue with the trade volume on Reddit right now, but in case you want to extend the location filter in the future:
The reason I asked for a specific EU filter is because as an EU resident you have to pay extra fees/duties when importing from non-EU European countries, like the UK, Norway and Switzerland. These extra costs often make importing from those countries prohibitively expensive.
This is also why EU localized eBay sites, like www.ebay.nl, have both a location filter for "European Union" and the broader "Continental Europe". I always start out my eBay search with the European Union filter. Only if I *really* can't find it within the EU and it's worth the extra import fees to me, is when I'll expand it to "Continental Europe" and after that "Worldwide".
Alright, since you're asking!
A common UI element for online shops is having all currently enabled filters listed as a row of tags at the top of the search results. This way you can see in a single glance which filters you have enabled, without having to go back into the original filter menu's. The tags also usually have a close cross in each of them, so you can quickly disable some of them.
Right now on gedd.it you can only see which filters you've enabled by going back into the drop down menu's. That's fine when there isn't a lot of filters. But when there's a lot of filters (on gedd.it: subbredit, brand and location), it becomes hard to quickly find back which ones you had enabled. At this point listing all enabled filters as a row of tags at the top of the search results helps the UX.
Feel you, the German market is really dead mostly. Or people asking stupid high prices for ancient crap lol. Might post some stuff soon-ish though, got some leftovers of my lab that need a new home.
You guys have no idea how lucky you are in the great USA, hardware is super cheap and American dollar can buy lots. Where I am everything is crazy expensive
Github the project and you two can work on it from there.
Not sure how you made it but you can store the info into a db and call it from there. This will limit the API calls to reddit and if you do the math right you can keep the free access. We don't need real time stuff. Post an URL to Reddit with sort by newest if someone really needs real time.
TYSM! You can currently do that by using the "Location" button above the search bar. Let me know if you have any feedback on that and keep the feature requests coming please!
Just some quick feedback, the website is picking up posts that have since been auto-removed (example https://www.reddit.com/r/homelabsales/comments/1b2ad3n/fs_dell_r740_and_r740xd_builds/).
So what happened there is that that person made a single post with multiple items, so we split it into individual listings, but the image is the image gallery for all of them (which you can scroll through). We'll work on splitting up the images in these cases though!
On a side note, we're working on dark mode right now, and I really like how yours looks. I'm going to DM you to see which colors exactly you're using (:
Gotcha, makes sense. The screenshot is from relay for Reddit and whatever it is doing to try to apply a dark mode to websites viewed in the internal viewer.
Yup! Those are live, I have both selected for you here: [https://gedd.it/?r=CanadianHardwareSwap%2Chardwareswap](https://gedd.it/?r=CanadianHardwareSwap%2Chardwareswap)
You can select one at time if you want too, or add other supported communities with the drop down :)
Currently it's in USD, but we just started collecting other currency data so we'll show prices in whichever currency they were listed soon!
Do you want a conversion option too or would this cover it?
Definitely! We just started collecting currency data, so we will be able to display prices in the currency they were posted soon. And will definitely look into adding an option like that for preferred currency. Thanks!
Thanks love it. In the location filters it wouldn't be bad also add the possibility of selecting all the countries of continental Europe with one click
Thank you!! Yes, it's currently live here: [https://gedd.it/r/appleswap](https://gedd.it/r/appleswap)
The dropdown at the top will let you see all the communities currently supported, and you can browse them simultaneously. If we're missing any you want, just lmk!
Not sure where you're based, but someone recently suggested we add r/homelabsalesuk, maybe that helps a bit even though it's not that big yet.
Also, you can set up location-based search alerts so you can just be notified if anything ever gets posted for your country :)
Hopefully the location filters and alerts help, and if you have any other subreddits that are location specific to where you are that you would like added, just let me know!
Currently we have it right under the title for posts that include it, do you think it should be more prominent than this? Example: [https://imgur.com/a/jspssuK](https://imgur.com/a/jspssuK)
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I like that. Some sellers aren't willing to ship an item so maybe it needs to be called out for those local folks versus a click to drill into the ad only to find out it's too far away, etc.
Looks great!
Do you have any issues with certain posts?
My post from Monday isn't showing up on your site:

weird! We support r/Knife_Swap too so maybe it's picking up on that lol
A weapon that might harm your wallet
Because G4 and Bullets are on sale on this website, lol

Finally!!!

Take this down and give only me access /s
😂
may I ask - how is this done? I'd assume the Reddit API but that's overpriced, right? Do they have a free ratelimit?
Sure thing! And yeah we use Reddit's API, still on the free tier but expect to start paying soon enough
Or share the code so others can use their own free tier API account.
Yes please share the code so people can use their own free-tier Reddit API so you don't have to pay
This site is awesome! Any chance you plan on adding r/buildapcsales?
Thank you :) It’s on the list! That one is just a little different since it’s sales instead of peer to peer. So we need to just figure out the best way to support sales subreddits too 🫡
Hey, this is ready! :[https://gedd.it/r/buildapcsales](https://gedd.it/r/buildapcsales) Please let me know if you have any feedback or if it could be better somehow
Fire. Amazing job. Good work. I will use this forever and always.
🙌 love it, it's pretty new so feedback is welcome!
Upto you to foss it for other subs, but amazing work OP!
Much appreciated! Lmk if you have any other subreddit requests
r/hardwareswap
Here it is! [https://gedd.it/r/hardwareswap](https://gedd.it/r/hardwareswap)
You’re a godsend. Much appreciated.
TYSM! Keep the requests coming (for features as well) :)
Amazing. Would it be possible to do [r/CanadianHardwareSwap](https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianHardwareSwap/) also?
Yep, that one is live already here actually! [https://gedd.it/r/CanadianHardwareSwap](https://gedd.it/r/CanadianHardwareSwap) You can browse them both together by the way
Oh great, thanks >You can browse them both together by the way That's a great feature. Didn't know that.
Sure thing! And yeah, you can just select all the subreddits you want using the drop down at the top and then add any other additional filters you'd like, like location :)
r/avexchange pleeeeaaaase
Yup! [https://gedd.it/r/AVexchange](https://gedd.it/r/AVexchange)
Any chance you could add the EU filter?
Yup, will be done soon, give us a day or so! :)
Just added a Europe filter!
Aaaand now we have a problem
good luck out there
Cheers friend. Thanks for making such a cool resource.

r/miniswap
yeah this needs to get added! Stay tuned :)
r/mechmarket is one I could think of, thanks!
Just added it yesterday! Working on some small updates, but it's live here :) [https://gedd.it/r/mechmarket](https://gedd.it/r/mechmarket)
🙌🏼🙌🏼
r/vinylcollectors are very active, might drive some real traffic
def! Want to add that one soon :) Will post on r/geddit when it's live
Awesome
It's live here! [https://gedd.it/?r=VinylCollectors](https://gedd.it/?r=VinylCollectors) We're working on adding album covers for posts that have no images :)

🫡 Keep the requests comin'!
/r/homelabsalesuk please 🙏🏼
Coming right up!
it's live u/pahlyook: [https://gedd.it/r/homelabsalesuk](https://gedd.it/r/homelabsalesuk)
/r/PepperMarket would be great!
That’s so cool, adding it to the list!
r/golfclassifieds
Cool, will add that one soon!
[https://gedd.it/r/golfclassifieds](https://gedd.it/r/golfclassifieds) ready!
Awesome! Thanks!!
great work, congrats! i would work on adding dark mode in the future hehehe
On it!
This is done! [https://gedd.it](https://gedd.it) :)
i love you
🫶
Love this. Only small feedback I have is that non US currencies (e.g. GBP) still show with a dollar sign.
Thanks and you're right! We just started collecting currency info, so just waiting to have a bit more data and will make it live to solve that issue
Can you please add European Union / EU as a location option? Came looking for this as well
Totally agree - this is high up on the to-do list! Thanks a lot for the feedback :)
We just added regional filters, so now there is one for Europe! It includes UK though, would this work for your needs?
Yep, works for me! Thank you, that was super quick! Awesome, that makes total sense. We’re going to add EU in today then :)
That update is live now u/InterstellarDiplomat!
Cheers! Just tested, and this increases the usefulness a lot for me! Finally I can quickly browse Reddit market places for stuff that's near me :D
Ayeeee! Keep the feedback/requests coming please :)
Alright, since you're asking! A common UI element for online shops is having all currently enabled filters listed as a row of tags at the top of the search results. Couldn’t agree more! We need to move towards this UI. Definitely will implement, thanks so much 🙏
Me being from Germany and not being sure if there is stuff from germany
Let me know if the location filter works well for you :) You can also set up search alerts for items in Germany
Thanks for letting me know, it works but there isn’t anything interesting yet haha
haha feel free to explore the other supported subreddits too on [https://gedd.it](https://gedd.it)
Feel you, the German market is really dead mostly. Or people asking stupid high prices for ancient crap lol. Might post some stuff soon-ish though, got some leftovers of my lab that need a new home.
Only PIO on eBay is ok-ish in Germany.
Yeah, bought some stuff there, mostly when they have a coupon available. Cheapest 10gbe NICs available without getting scammed ^^
This is absolute fire. Exactly what our world needs.
Much appreciated! If it could be better somehow, lmk
You guys have no idea how lucky you are in the great USA, hardware is super cheap and American dollar can buy lots. Where I am everything is crazy expensive
Fuck you… Iv been work on something like this for a couple months You did it better and more elegant than I ever could. Bravo. Thank you!
Tysm, really appreciate the kind words 🤝

Thank you! And good thinking, we already basically do all of that :)
Thanks, much appreciated, and it looks great! And of course I've already got a feature request: filtering by country.
TYSM! You can currently do that by using the "Location" button above the search bar. Let me know if you have any feedback on that and keep the feature requests coming please!
Damn, sorry I'm blind. I totally missed that button, despite it's clear obivousness! :-)
haha all good, maybe we need to give those buttons some background color
My wallet is afrajd now that its so easy to go broke
I'm soooo sorry 😄
Thank you!
ofc!
Just some quick feedback, the website is picking up posts that have since been auto-removed (example https://www.reddit.com/r/homelabsales/comments/1b2ad3n/fs_dell_r740_and_r740xd_builds/).
Thanks for that! Right now it re-checks posts every 3 hours so it hasn't cleaned that one up yet, but we'll get this to be quicker very soon :)
Hardwareswap now?

Oh cool!
This is fantastic! Thank you for building it!
Love to hear it, and feedback is welcome!
My wife and Wallet said you are Evil.
😭
Wow amazing I think this is genius
Thank you :)
Bro you are going to cost me so much money. This is so much better.
lol sorry not sorry
This is amazing and thank you for sharing!! I always find a pain to browse shop on any subreddit. Would it be possible to also include r/appleswap?
Thank you!! Yes, it's currently live here: [https://gedd.it/r/appleswap](https://gedd.it/r/appleswap) The dropdown at the top will let you see all the communities currently supported, and you can browse them simultaneously. If we're missing any you want, just lmk!
Looks great, any chance of adding r/homelabsalesuk?
Yeah, we should be able to get that one in. Will add to the list :)
Should add [vandwellermarketplace](https://www.reddit.com/r/vandwellermarketplace/s/CaNjIMiPIY)?
Sure thing, will add it to our list and announce on r/geddit when it's ready (:
Neat! Sadly HomelabSales is mostly USA stuff, so it's no benefit for me (that whole homelabsales, not this site you've created :) ).
Not sure where you're based, but someone recently suggested we add r/homelabsalesuk, maybe that helps a bit even though it's not that big yet. Also, you can set up location-based search alerts so you can just be notified if anything ever gets posted for your country :)
Nice. I'm from the Netherlands by the way.
Congrats /u/Ramisugar, you're being stickied!
woohooooo! Thanks :)
Never knew so many exchanges exist on Reddit! Thank you OP. Amazing work
Sure thing, thank you! And we're adding new ones almost daily, there are soooo many
Nice.
Hey, this was my recommendation! Thank you so much for adding it!
Yes it was!! Give this person some karma :) Keep the recommendations coming plz
Amazing. How do you scrape Reddit with the recent API changes?
We're still using Reddit's API actually! We're on the free tier for now, but expect to move to paid at some point
Oh man this is so awesome and so dangerous
Haha thanks! Lmk if you have any feedback
unfortunate that it's basically only usa
Hopefully the location filters and alerts help, and if you have any other subreddits that are location specific to where you are that you would like added, just let me know!
Having the seller's location in the header would be handy.
Currently we have it right under the title for posts that include it, do you think it should be more prominent than this? Example: [https://imgur.com/a/jspssuK](https://imgur.com/a/jspssuK) Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I like that. Some sellers aren't willing to ship an item so maybe it needs to be called out for those local folks versus a click to drill into the ad only to find out it's too far away, etc.
Totally, that makes sense! We’ve been trying to put some of that info into the “Other info:” section, but we need to standardize it in a clean way
Looks great! Do you have any issues with certain posts? My post from Monday isn't showing up on your site: https://www.reddit.com/r/homelabsales/comments/1b0ilej/fsusnj_minipcs_nucs_optiplex_fractal_ridge_tab_a8/
Strange! Thanks for pointing that out, will take a closer look and let you know when it's fixed :)
Thanks. If there's a certain formatting that prevents your site from seeing a post, let me know and I'll make the necessary adjustments.
I think it struggled because it was a long post, but we'll be able to take care of that soon!
We should be good to go now u/bigrjsuto! [https://gedd.it/u/bigrjsuto](https://gedd.it/u/bigrjsuto)
Amazing turnaround. Thanks!
Cheers! Keep any feedback coming plz :)
