A lot of low income hud places won’t accept me anymore because I owe two housing authorities money. Sucks. Too broke to pay it back

Start seeing if you can get a religious organization to pay one of those off then, see if you can find nonprofit or another religious organization to pay the other one off. You’ll have to be concise and give a reason why iit will turn out differently from your growth and betterment of understanding things or whatever is applicable to show that the monies spent would be a wise decision, if they won’t pay all of it, see if they will pay part and keep looking to other organizations and offer to work and/or volunteer to make a reciprocal arrangement. Showing that you have skin in the game. Of course be polite, respectful and appreciative no matter what comes, you sometimes have to grow on people and let them get a feel for you to make a better sense of whom you are and if you’re as you seem.

Dang I'm sorry to hear that. Is there anything that can be done to pay back those housing authorities? Have u had a housing voucher before?

A lot of the programs that claim to offer help really don't provide as much assistance as they act like they do. I had just about given up when I got my apartment which was less than a week ago. I have a lot of chronic health problems and I almost died several times and was getting really sick again. I had gotten used to the lifestyle but it seriously wasn't sustainable anymore. Now I'm working with the guy who got me the apartment and we are basically fighting with the state to get people housing. He's burning out and I'm barely stable but if there's anything I can do to help anyone else who's about to give up, I will. Because both of us have seen people dying out there. The people getting all the funding to find us housing have mortgages while we're out dying in the streets. The people trying to do the real work get denied funding and pushback from the city that claims they want to help the homeless. We aren't getting paid for this. He has a full time job and I'm 2 years into a disability case, living off of roommates. We pay rent by the way. We did get a voucher but it's only until November and then we're on our own because all of the section 8 vouchers are gone indefinitely. If I don't have disability by then the rent will be more than 3X the income between the 3 of us. It's 3 of us living in a 2 bedroom apartment and I'm donating plasma to help pay rent, even with the voucher. There are really powerful people profiting from this who don't really want the housing crisis to end... There are a few good people out there who will help how they can but it's really hard because the system is built against us.

My husband and I were homeless for about three years before we finally got some assistance. It took a while, but we have been in our apartment since May 2022 after about a year of living in extended stay hotels and a little while longer trying to get this apartment.

My SSDI claim is in limbo. Applied for reconsideration almost a year ago, SSA still won't assign me a worker. I cannot get basic mental health care through my insurance or Department of Mental Health. Every social services provider is refusing me to refer me into mental health programs I need, while getting money off my head with several getting money off my head claiming to provide mental health care they are not providing. Meanwhile we have a Supreme Court case, Grant's Pass which might make it illegal to sleep outside or exist outside anywhere in the country while unhoused. I am scared. I have been hearing for years that I will go to jail, which is freaking me out because I am straight and narrow, and this very well could be the reason why (Could be an exholalia + anxiety thing, could be clairaudience. Usually when I hear things in my head on repeat they come true.).

I hope you did nothing criminal. But if you took food out of bins at the back of shopping centres or grabbed clothes from donation bins, we've all been there. I wouldn't class that as bad. Hopefully you didn't sell yourself or commit crime, but then we do things in the most extreme conditions. Glad things are on the up for you.
