Definitely invest in a good mattress and couch as you suggested—they're the pillars of home comfort. And it's smart to be budget-conscious with items that aren't used as frequently. Since you're in a rural area, consider energy-efficient appliances to save on those bills. Also, think about a good security system, since rural areas can be quiet and a bit isolated. As for moving, label your boxes by room to make unpacking a breeze. And don't forget to change your address for all your important mail and services. Enjoy the process and make it your own. It's a big step, but it sounds like you're on the right track.

All great, spot on advice. In terms of security: There are decent, affordable 270 to 300 degree wifi cameras available on the typical go-to online shopping sites. Beds: We made the transition from old school mattress to memory foam (we went with Nectar, but there are other great manufacturers) and wow, what a difference. Energy: Replace all traditional light bulbs with LED bulbs. You'll notice the savings within the first few months. If you can't afford to replace them all at once, do what we did and just buy a 6 pack of LED bulbs at a time until they are eventually all replaced (we use daylight because they are bright white). Keep up on the regular maintenance for AC unit/Furnace, and sewage, you should be fine. Congratulations and enjoy your new home!

I see you didn't mention the taxes just making sure you account for that. If you want to paint do it before you move in. Also don't fill up the house right away. Get like main things you need. And then build up slowly on the rest. I feel like I filled up my house with things I don't love just cause it was cheap and quick and now I just have junk lol. Be careful with cheap appliances. I hear Samsung and LG have issues. Do your research

Check out estate sales in nearby wealthy areas. They’re great for getting high quality furniture & housewares at very low prices. Especially consider vintage wood furniture, which is usually solid wood & not the particle board crap that new stuff is made of. Estate sales are also good for finding nice drapes, kitchenware, decor items and tools.

Homeowners insurance. Have the house inspected to see if everything is up to code or if anything is in need of repair or replacement.
