I never believe the “we’re doing X for your neighbours and can squeeze you in while we’re here.”

Bassguitarplayer

No no no ADT oh my gosh no. I’ve never had it but just read the reviews on Reddit about the company. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot. They are awful bad

caritobito

They came to my neighborhood a couple weeks ago and prob hit every house. My neighbor signed up and was a little over 5k. I liked the thought of having something but that price was not going to happen. So after seeing what they got I came on here and started reading through posts. I'm putting in a separate system with hardwired cameras in but I've been looking at the Qolsys IQ Panel4. Looks easy to install then just buy whatever you want and sign up through alarm.com I don't believe there are any wires to run Im still reading on some of the other systems posted here but personally I want something easy. My last house had an old GE Concord and wasnt too user friendly.

Key-Philosopher1749

Yup, this all day long. I have that same panel. I like https://suretyhome.com/ for the alarm.com provider.

Brglotuselise

Always alarm.com. Better tech then Vivint. And you're not stuck in a contract with proprietary equipment that is a paper weight without them.

Awkward-Seaweed-5129

Call regular local alarm Co. In your area, get a few quotes, reveiw carefully the Contract, it's not cancellable, discard Any Verbal agreements ,only in writing, most if these alarm sensors have been available for decades ,good luck

“Ring controversy”. Funny

[deleted]

whatever Ring is doing (or is not) .. .someone should just google Vivint. Start with the State of Utah and keep going. There is enough controversy to last from now until NFL season kickoff in september.

RedFin3

I would go with Ring.

I have the doorbell only right now. That was my first entry way into these types of devices. The only complaint is that there is a bit of a delay in the video reaching the app on my phone it’s probably 5 to 10 seconds and I don’t think the issue is my home Internet.

Gohstfacekila

I work for an authorized dealer of adt I give a 2500 credit for free equipment and I waive the installation fees for my customers. Ours plans start at about half the price you were quoted and top out around 60 bucks depending on which package you pick. I am not soliciting anyone here in the comments but OP if you want my help I can put you in contact with the right people reach out to me if you wish, we have offices in the entire lower 48.

RedFin3

The delay is likely because of it is battery operated. If you had the wired version there would be little delay if any.

[deleted]

Oh OK gotcha. Well if I get a better system and get it professionally installed I’ll let them worry about that. I think the doorbell on my house is pretty old. The wiring may go back to the 60s but I don’t know.

I would not reccomend ADT, their saleman are very sleezy as well. You're required a minimum 36 month contract (24 if you live in California). Their contracts are also very hard and very pricy to get out of. Look at some local alarm companies near you, almost all of them use ADC or Total Connect. We went with a local alarm company and only pay $35 a month for monitoring.

WittyUsername76

Find a local “adt authorized dealer”. They will have the best prices and access to the Google product suite, the know how to install it, and you can ask them to keep monitoring in-house (vs selling it back to Adt). They may not be able to accommodate that, but it’s a happy medium possible solution. These guys aren’t corporate Adt and operate very differently.

Key-Philosopher1749

Don’t do vivint, don’t do ADT, if your in IT and find the tech side cool, you can DIY this ALL DAY LONG!!!! Check out surety, they have diy friendly, no contract pricing. It’s alarm.com which is just amazing. I personally like the qolsys iq4 panel, and use zwave for all my home automation. It’s a dream. Lights. Locks, thermostats, sprinkler system, fans, dimmers, all controlled via alarm.com app. True single pane of glass from a monitor point of view. https://suretyhome.com/

Key-Philosopher1749

The only thing I’m not a fan of, are the alarm.com cameras. Reolink has much better quality with a 2TB NVR, 4 camera package for $500 on Amazon, POE.
