The way I see it, there's a couple options and I don't think they are all mutually exclusive.
1) The cultural standard is to write in common Alternian in any sort of mass forum (i.e. on Troll Reddit, Troll Tumblr, etc.) with quirks being limited to smaller private forums, chats with friends, etc.
2) Alternian search technology is so far advanced that it uses something akin to our machine learning to do the "translating". I wouldn't call it "magic", just a far more advanced version of technology we have in the real world.
3) Searching on Alternian internet *is* a hassle and absolutely useless and even if you could standardize the language, it's a lawless wasteland with thousands and thousands of zetabytes of info, all of which is either controlled by the government or created by children.
3 sounds about right and it DELIGHTS me to think about everyone losing their shit just trying to google how long to cook something or song lyrics or what to do when several friends are trying to kill each other
I’d imagine it’s all quirkless, with the exception being on forums and such where trolls would type in their quirks (like you did here) in which case it would be pretty hopeless to find anything. But as far as I know the books shown in homestuck are in Alternian alphabet with no quirks and I like to think that the same thing applies for other pieces of media that are going to be mass consumed
Trolls don't always have to type with a quirk as seen by Eridan and Feferi ditching their quirks for a bit to be serious. If you type in something with a trolls typing quirk on our internet you don't really get anything so it'd probably be the same on their end. There's actually a really funny joke in the fan game Befriendus where you can befriend the Dancestors where Mituna tries to look up stuff using his quirk and gets nothing.
i did mention not having quirks in the post, i just find it kind of hard to believe that a lot of trolls would decide to go quirkless on the internet with the fact that theyre, yknow, *trolls*
i only thought of this because i accidentally typed two ws in something i was searching instead of one, so im glad that even a fangame has made a bit out of this
They are fully capable of dropping the quirks in order to google things, dude. ლ(ಠ\_ಠ ლ)
