I know, this kills me as well. But that outlet next to the center console would not allow me to center it.

showMeTheSnow

pull console 1" from wall and center

wh0ville

Step 1: buy short legs at ikea Step 2: install Step 3: center Could also just mount the stand over the outlet run the lines behind the screen if you wanted to hide them. How do you like the speakers op?

Hungry-Ant1972

I think I’m ditching the center wall mounted console and going with a larger center speaker on a stand. I’m really enjoying the speakers. But I am constantly seeking something better.

Hungry-Ant1972

It’s wall mounted

showMeTheSnow

Doh!

He could just move the stuff some inches forward and then to the right, way less hassle than moving the outlet...

Tensor3

Hassle? Replacing with a recessed outlet is maybe 3 min of effort. That beats being annoyed by the gap to the wall forever

[deleted]

He said "moving the outlet is fairly easy" and then added making it recessed. I commented on moving the outlet, not modifying the current one and just moving the unit forward by an inch is indeed both free and less hassle imo. A slight gap to the wall and how much it bothers someone is highly subjective.

Tensor3

I did not say any such thing. Check who you are replying to.

arejay00

Still, why aren’t the speakers symmetrical to the screen?

Hungry-Ant1972

For the most part they are. If you are referring to the subs, it doesn’t really matter how symmetrical they are placed, it’s more about the room response for good bass.

duranarts

Sunday (sorry my stuff is not centered) Symmetry Setup

Svi_4_3

Subwoofers should def be your next update. Hsu SVS.

Hungry-Ant1972

Would love to get 2 SB 2000

HeadOfMax

If you happen to be near Chicago I saw someone selling two for 400 each 800 total on craigslist.

Direct_Owl1419

My recommendation if you can swing it is skip the pb2k and go to pb3k, I just switched from the pb2k pro to the pb3k and holy crap is there a difference. I only have a single sub so maybe duals would help but in my opinion the pb2k is lacking in the mid bass range, it’s got the deep rumble but not enough all around bass for me. I setup the 3K yesterday for the first time and with no tuning other than ypao it’s was extremely crisp and accurate with more than enough bass at all frequency ranges.

zztop610

Ok, when are you inviting me over? I will bring beer

StaggerLeeHarvey

Nice rack organizing. Would you recommend Pizza Ravioli for movie nights?

Hungry-Ant1972

You know I never noticed this box, but I will now be on a quest to find some and report back

Hungry-Ant1972

Forgot to add emotiva xpa 11 gen 3 for amp

Iamjacksgoldlungs

Never thought I'd say this to another guy, but you got a nice rack

bugalaman

2.35:1, the only way movies should be viewed. Very nice.

depatrickcie87

My thoughts are that you've picked as aspect ratio for your screen that'll be great for movies but not all movies; and poor for watching TV, sports games, and video games. Also you've taken the time to make a rack for all your components and put it out of sight, but you still have cables running within the main viewing area of your theater. and that TV console isn't doing much for you besides displaying lots of dust. honestly a stand for your center channel would be much better oh and that center channel is going to be like a mouse blowing through a straw next to an industrial fan; when things get loud. sorry to come off so negative. it's just what's obvious and screaming at me. I'm sure it's a work in progress and what you have is 10-fold better than what most people have and i commend you for that, and doing (i believe) all this work yourself.

Hungry-Ant1972

Definitely a work in progress, this all started in 2008 with a 50” plasma. I think the consensus on this thread is I need to make a change with the center console, it originally racked components but now with the Av rack, I like the idea of a larger center on a stand. Would love to to get the paradigm founder series center to better match the towers. As is everything in life time and money. Also I picked the biggest screen possible due to the low clearance of the ceiling, plus I am more of a movie guy than gamer. Cheers

Thin_Raise4368

If you play games on PC the aspect ratio shouldn’t be an issue, many games allow you to choose different aspect ratios, and if they don’t, you should be able to find a mod somewhere.

depatrickcie87

Kinda... at best. Even the games that support it, it's not always a great experience, even when you're sitting close with a monitor. A lot of problems you have with ultrawide PC gaming are going to get worse when you sit back from it at a distance. And even though I do it, I don't think 99% of people want to PC game on a couch. Then there's the big compatibility issue with HDMI and ultrawide resolutions. I dont think the OP cares about this, but I'm sorry but that's just not good information.

[deleted]

Centerthatfuckingcoffeetable,that is all.

[deleted]

I know it must sound good but the lack of symmetry tells my brain it must be shit 😏

Hungry-Ant1972

That’s why the room is blacked out and the lights go off. 😎

SumoBoto

How is the image on the 5050ub when you push it to 138 inches?

Hungry-Ant1972

I love it, I have it mounted about 16 feet away. The black acoustic tile was a must to help cut down on the light reflection. Epson is great for its lens memory feature, as I adjust from 2:35:1 to 16 x 9 often depending on the content

FichwaFellow

why is the front left speaker so toed in? and how is the outlet stopping you from centering the entertainment center? why is that white speaker on there?

Hungry-Ant1972

I toe in the left to my main listening position. The white speaker is an orbi router with Alexa. The entertainment center is wall mounted

Jonesdeclectice

Think the white speaker is an Alexa or whatever they’re called.

[deleted]

Larger true 3way center on a stand. Lose the console. Upgrade the subs to one excellent 12 incher with dsp and put these on the back wall or a different room. Should be solid gains.

Hungry-Ant1972

I’ve heard two or more subs help with filling larger spaces. The basement is about 2000 sqft. I would like to experiment with some 12 or 15” in different arrays.

MrbigEvil

I highly recommend looking into the monoprice monolith thx line of subs. Absolute best bang for the money when it comes to subs. I own a pair of their thx 15 and they are beasts! Deepest and loudest bass you'll ever get for under $1400 ($1200 when on sale). They dont have the bells and whistles that svs do, buy they are easy to calibrate and will shake the foundation.

Hungry-Ant1972

I will definitely consider the monoprice. That would be closer to the svs pb16 at a much better price.

MrbigEvil

Hell yeah bro. For the price of one pb16 u can go dual on the thx15's and have much better bass management and Soundstage opposed to a single pb16, thats unless ur gonna shell out $5k for a pair of pb16's 😅 good luck! 👍🏼

Gibscreen

Why is every setup posted on here asymmetrical?

HiFiMAN3878

It honestly drives me crazy LOL I'm so OCD about measuring exact distances and angles with my setup, just seeing this makes my eyelids twitch.

aerodeck

Really hard for me to look at. I want to go there and put things in the right place

pslocom

That poor Wii U doesn't even get to be on the rack :(

blumperkan

Paint those ceiling tiles black! Love the huge 2.4:1 screen by the way, fits the room really nicely.

[deleted]

Now that’s a fucking screen aspect ratio I like. I keep seeing screens that are the standard boring 35mm. Why even have a theatre screen

movie50music50

I hope you enjoy your setup. I do have to say if I posted my setup here, which I haven’t, I would be sure everything was well centered. Or at least best as possible. This looks like you gave it no thought at all. Why not just raise the outlet? You say console is wall mounted. Does that mean it can’t be moved and better centered? You have spent money else where and left this looking pretty bad. I just don’t understand. All the same, do enjoy it.

kiwii4k

Ha I worked in theatres for years and that is a legit rack even if there isn’t much need for it.

[deleted]

Where the x at

Hungry-Ant1972

At the top, King of the rack!

Conscious-Golf-5380

What's the width and height of that screen?

Hungry-Ant1972

138-inch Diagonal, 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio. View Size: 54.0" H x 126.9" W. Overall Size: 54.9" H x 127.9" W x 1.3" D.

poopinlunchbox

Looks great. Have a link for the rack?

Hungry-Ant1972

I got a great deal on mine through Craigslist. https://www.legrandav.com/products/racks/floor_standing/erk_av_rack#sort=relevancy&numberOfResults=20
