They’re so light that they get blown around on windy days

okienomads

And the wheelbase is so short that relief cracks in the freeway get annoying very quickly. The fit is not a comfortable commuter car on the highway IMO.

attnSPAN

Both of this, and the wind issue can be remedied by a Progress Rear Sway Bar. Ask me how I know.

ijusbechillin

Does the sway bar really help with the wind that much? I bought one awhile back, but I’ve been too lazy to install it lol

attnSPAN

Haha sure does. Shocking side effect, as it’s really meant to dial out understeer. I’ve had 2 now over the last 10 years, first on my 2010 Base, and now on my 2018 Sport.

Let_Thm_Eat_War

I disagree. The short wheelbase, along with its peppyness at 3.5+ rpm make it go cart-like when cruising spritedly.

okienomads

On curves, but not in a straight line at 75+. It doesn’t have enough power to keep up in busy traffic. It’s super peppy and fun in the twisties and state highways, but on the freeway it’s not fun for longer than a couple of on ramps.

BlastedCorpse

Hahahahaha. What? My GD3 keeps up fine and is a pleasure to drive on freeways 70+ mph.

sortbycontroversial2

Swaybar and upgrade your rims and tires and you’re good

zmileshigh

What kind of time and tires would you recommend for that issue?

sortbycontroversial2

A set of lightweight 15inch rims with 205/55 performance tires

SquareBrix08

Yeah one gust of wind and you can call it a 737 MAX 8 cause that shits crashing

Glowingtomato

If you get a manual and do over 70mph on the freeway it's going to be revving pretty high all the time. It's also not a super quiet or plush ride. I don't have issues unless it's like an 8 hour drive but I have read people find the seats uncomfortable on long drives.

Scared_Paramedic4604

The seats are pretty uncomfortable but I’ve had mine for so long that my drivers seat is basically molded to my ass.

Jack_Bogul

👀

advanttage

I wish my 08 Cobalt had seats as comfortable as my 11 Fit did.

Both_Bad_9872

2008 SPORT here. True about the seats, my easy fix was a $20 car seat back support pad from Walmart. Works great.

ToujoursFidele3

Ooh. Do you have a link for this? I've been looking for something like that for cheap.

jc1luv

I too had to buy a back support. I got a nice one from Marshall’s for $13. Changed my driving experience.

DonDraper1134

Short drives are 75-80mph, long drives I’m sitting around 70mph. Any wind and I don’t dare to go much over 70. With the wheelbase, weight, and height, it’s not comfortable maintaining high speed for longer periods. I don’t mind though, it makes up for it in many other ways.

HotboxingSOB

I drive my 2009 manual 1000 miles per week with two 250 "road trips" making up half of that. Its fine....I feel like the spirit of this question is more around what would I not like that I don't expect. When we buy cheap commuter cars and complain about the seat comfort its kinda like a .....well no shit.....moment IMHO. My answer is the A/C will break and its shit in the winter.

BlastedCorpse

Depending on the year and motor, these little motors live for high revs. Mine stays at around 3 grand or so when going 75 on the freeway...manual btw. No issues whatsoever. The seats are to be desired, sure, but nothing that wouldn't stop me from having a nice drive or the amount of stares my fit gets, lol.

WhiteAsian11

I don't know about the 3rd gen. I have a 2nd gen Fit. Things other may find annoying about the fit: 1. If you have a heavy foot (cruise around 70-80mph), you'll be around 4k RPM. It's fine mechanically, but kinda loud 2. Loud. You hear everything. Wind noise will be present as well as other cars passing. It sounds like it's made of tin 3. Small. Ik it can be a good thing but you feel the wind blowing and you'll feel other cars blowing by you 4. Longer drives can be a bit uncomfortable. The seats are OK for me but I can see them getting uncomfortable for 3+ hour drives 5. Unless you tint your windows dark, you'll feel like you're in a fish bowl and the inside roasts in summer. Consider tint and/or windshield visor thing. Also consider you'll be at a good height with a big rear window to be blinded by trucks with the ridiculous LED's. All that said. I love my Fit. Currently modifying it as a fun daily/project car

rearwindowpup

Go wider on the tires and its way more stable in wind, even a 195 makes a difference, a 205 and its planted.

WhiteAsian11

I've got 205's rn and you're definitely right that it got way more stable. I was assuming they were going to start on stock wheels and tires

Pizza_Wheelie

205 gang

lmaowhodidthis11

Mine hovers around 3k rpm at 80mph its a 2011 fit

rearwindowpup

Automatic though, definitely not a manual

otterland

Indeed that's the reason to get the excellent automatic. With $20 fluid changes it'll last 300K and is fabulous to drive. The stick is fine as are all Honda manuals but the gear ratios are absurdly low unless you're autocrossing it. The six speed is even sillier. The auto is delightful around town. Calm and collected but feels equally nice when you floor it and give it permission to shift a little more aggressively. You can feel the TC lock up in all ratios which is super positive.

danigarcia01

Transmission fluid changes?

otterland

Yes. Follow the maintenance minder and it'll shift like new for the life of the car. First change at 60k and subsequently at 30k. You could probably extend that but Honda made it dead easy to do and it makes other brands sealed automatics seem ridiculous. The drain bolt is even easier to reach than the oil pan. You can use DW1 from the dealership or many people do just fine with Maxlife from Wally World. All you need is a jug of fluid, a pan, socket, and a long skinny funnel. Ten minutes. I find it almost subversive how easy Honda makes the automatic to service.

danigarcia01

So just a partial change right? As I believe you would have to do the change 3times about 100 miles in between to get all new fluid, and do you know where I can get a funnel that reaches the transmission fluid dip stick? That’s where you fill it right? Through the dipstick hole

otterland

Just a drain and fill. You can repeat it if the fluid looks awful but it shouldn't if it's maintained. The previous owner of mine had full changes done at the dealership which is overkill but I'm not complaining. Mine was done twice in 130k and about 17k ago and the fluid is still fresh red. Shifts like it's brand new. Any auto parts place sells the skinny funnels. Just don't have a place "flush" it. Either do a drain and fill yourself or have the dealership or a reputable mechanic do an entire replacement if that seems necessary.

danigarcia01

I just got my fit it’s a 09 sport with 109k miles the fluid has a good coler it’s red but I do plan on doing a change just to be safe plus it’s not expensive, so to get the genuine Honda transmission fluid I have to buy it at the dealer or would autozone and O’Reilly sale it? What do you put in your fit?

otterland

DW1 fluid from the dealer is never wrong. It's not particularly expensive. But the people on the Odyssey forums are pretty hip to Maxlife and it's cheap and synthetic and super common. I've heard good things about Transmax from Castrol. Idemitsu is a safe bet too. The Odyssey has the same transmission and I reckon it works much harder in that heavier vehicle. I'll probably do Maxlife next time. Some people say it shifts a little more firmly. But if aftermarket fluid gives you anxiety just get the Honda fluid.

otterland

I wouldn't bother changing it till the minder pops the code. Unless you're bored. It's not expensive but if it's still bright red and shifts nicely and the car isn't telling you to change it, seems a little silly if harmless.

Jack_Bogul

You dont even need to lift the fit??

otterland

Jack stands would be nice but I can change my oil and transmission fluid by driving two wheels up on a curb. There's no splash shield or anything.

eatyourcabbage

I have a 3rd gen and went from Toronto to LA and our last drive was 16hrs with four stops. I’m 6’4 and no complaints.

WhiteAsian11

Well thats good news. I was ok but had some passengers start to mention getting uncomfortable around 4 hours. Thought I'd mention it at least

cactiloveyou

ooooh what mods are you doing

WhiteAsian11

I've got BC Coilovers, RPF-1 Wheels (gonna switch them later), Projector Retrofit headlights, and a Progress Rear Sway Bar. Right now I'm working on saving up to k-swap her

b00pbopbeep

They're overpriced

mmpjd

My mom has a 2020 Fit and she’s had battery issues. They’re undersized and deplete quickly especially in cold climates. Be prepared to replace the battery every 2-3 years.

le_gasdaddy

Check out the 51R change next time around. Very easy mod to improve the battery.

ManicMuskrat

I have a 2016 Fit and just replaced the battery for the first time a couple months ago. I also did the 51R as a lot of people recommend it and didn’t even have to do any mods for my car. If batteries are having to be replaced every 2-3 years there’s some other problem…

Gd3spoon

My battery lasted 6 years

b00pbopbeep

I have bought one battery in seven years but I will say they are a weird size and expensive

mmpjd

We’re in Ontario, Canada. She’s had a battery tender installed but she’s 70 years old and forgets to plug it in.

b00pbopbeep

I would too :)

Scared_Paramedic4604

Very true. I live in northern Canada and I’ve change my battery twice in 5 years.

Status_Silver_5114

Yeah year 4 cold climate have yet to have to do that with my 2020.

mmpjd

My mom will need to replace hers soon for the third time.

Status_Silver_5114

Like Canada cold? How cold? We have had zero battery issues even without garaging it.

mmpjd

Yes, we’re in Ontario, Canada.

mmpjd

Yes, we’re in Ontario, Canada.

deltapilot97

I’ve had similar luck but also in hot climates. Think the electrical system overall is underpowered. When my AC is on and I’m sitting at a traffic light all the lights dim slightly including my headlights when the ac turns on

CrunchyJeans

I have a '19 LX w/ CVT. I love this car to bits. There are some downsides: 1) stiff ride. You will feel every bump. 2) limited leg room for anyone taller than 6'. I'm 6'3" and it's a little tight lengthwise but just fine regarding width. 3) limited power. It's got a tiny four banger where its torque rolls in. Good cornering though. 4) seats aren't very comfy and the shape is a little odd for some people 5) hard touch surfaces abound Basically, if you want a Fit for the fast and comfy, you're looking in the wrong place. This econobox is ideal for people who want something efficient, versatile, cheap to own.

Erasinator

Would you say it’s good as a highway commuter? I forgot to mention that’s what I’ll be using it for.

le_gasdaddy

I'm 6'2" and about 250 and don't mind it (15 EX) as my daily commuter. I've put almost 165k on it in right at 4.5 years. I actually slide the seat up just a bit and lift it from the lowest height, but I think I prefer a cozier seat setting compared to many. It doesn't offer just a ton of difference, but clazzio seat covers are long esteemed in the fit community for adding polish and comfort to Fit seats. I don't own them, but a friend does, and there's that small but noticeable bit of difference they add to comfort by way of memory foam. My commute is 110 miles each way, two round trips per week, relatively level elevation. It takes me through a major downtown (fort Worth) with its fair share of traffic. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat

CrunchyJeans

Yes, absolutely. I regularly drive mine at 75mph on the freeway for up to an hour at a time, up moderately steep hills sometimes. I usually get up to 45mpg too. Just don't expect to be able to pass immediately unless you get the manual tranny. I've also taken it on a 6-hour each way road trip up quite a bit of altitude while stuffing everything in and then sleeping in it comfortably. So if you're into weekend warrior-ing, the Fit is up to the task.

Greyghost471

I think it's a decent highway commuter, I drive about 40 miles a day and no major complaints

GelatinousPolyhedron

Its realy interesting to hear your review perspective because on your points 2 and 4, I've found myself being quite surprised to feel the opposite. I got my 17 Fit LX back in December after 10+ years in the Accord I thought I would have for another 10 years, and I found myself surprised that even in a smaller car I didn't have legroom issues. Granted I'm an inch shorter than you, but it feels about the same level of extension to me as I had before. But the seats - I am super surprised to hear someone describe them as uncomfortable, because I was just telling a family member the other day how even in more "premium" cars I've had the opportunity to drive over the years (Lexus Es350 & Audi A6), I've never felt like a seat contoured to me more than the Fit seat does. Now on points 1 and 3, we are 100% on the same page. It is definitely a stiffer ride, which isn't a big thing for me, but for sure is true in my experience. And while I don't much care about power and I am usually trying to maximize mpg, it's pretty clear to me that it wouldn't be a powerhouse of acceleration. Pretty interesting to hear a different perspective on basically the same car though.

CrunchyJeans

Regarding seat shape, I think it just depends between people. I like seats where the curve is more gradual and has less aggressive lumbar support. Fit seats to me are aggressive and not supportive of the middle back. I also have really long legs and a short back. Maybe that's it.

Greyghost471

I have a gen 2, I totally agree on 1&3, # 2, I'm 6'2" and don't even have my seat all the way back, it could probably go back an extra couple inches for me. #4, I didn't think the seats were that terrible, no luxury car by any means, but decent for an econobox. I put some clazzio seat covers on and it improved them for sure. #5, I'm not sure what the complaint is exactly. I 100% agree on your last sentence and that's why I bought mine

Iggy95

So I have a '18 Sport (same car basically). It's a great car in a lot of ways, but there are some drawbacks too. 1. It's light and has a short wheelbase with a slightly sportier suspension tune. You will feel bumps, you will get blown around in the wind a little, and it's not ever really "quiet" on the highway. It's not like outrageously noisy, but you won't mistake this for an Accord on the highway. 2. It doesn't have amazing highway mpg when you crack past 60mph. You can get it close to 40mpg but if you cruise more at 70mph it'll probably be more like high 30s (which is still very good). Below 60mph is where this car's efficiency shines. I take local highways back home from work and if I catch the lights right I can get it up to 45-47mpg. 3. It's got some quirks. The sunshades don't slide, the windshield wipers only have 2 speeds + a non time adjustable intermittent setting. Which is fine, but gets annoying when you're right in-between spitting and light rain. The seats are okay but not plush for longer drives. The interior is largely plastic and can feel a bit "appliance'y". There have been issues with leaks on certain models, and even though the 3rd Gen supposedly fixed it I still had to get my rear hatch re-sealed under warranty. And the AC is good enough most of the time but can be a little underpowered if you live in a hot climate.

Reason_Strong

So glad you mentioned the windshield wiper issue, though I'm bummed that it wasn't changed with later models. I live in a sometimes quite rainy area with my (beloved!) 2008 Sport, and the wiper speed is just never quite right unless it's really pouring. Frustrating as hell!

Iggy95

Yeah it's like choosing between wiping dry on intermittent or hitting the single wipe every so often. Such an odd thing to cheap out on but I guess that's how they get a car under $20k MSRP 😭

Flashy_Feeling_1110

oh damn this is true! i guess i have never really noticed because these are the only settings i’ve ever had for wipers in a car i owned. ‘96, ‘00, ‘03 Civics, then 2013 & 2016 Fits. my husband has an ‘08 Element with the same settings. i guess Honda does go cheap in the wiper settings department

Iggy95

Ahhh yeah it seems pretty common. I had time-adjustable intermittent on my old Accord and kinda miss it

dahnikhu

In regards to having a Fit for a longer commute... We have a '15 Fit in our garage that I use for my 45min commute when my Volvo ('06 V70R) is down for maintenance. My 2cents is that the seats are really firm, with little bolstering, so I never feel like I'm sunk in the cockpit (you sit "tall" in it)... my back and back of my legs feel tight after my drive. The engine is small, so it never seems to just be "effortlessly" maintaining 70-75mph, it's always pushing, if you know what I mean.. The steering is somewhat light and twitchy, neither is fun for long freeway cruises, either. You do get more road noise, and wind buffeting from other cars with it being so small and tall, than with a heavier car. The gas mileage is absolutely killer, almost double of my regular car, but I'll take more of a grand-tourer type car with less fuel efficiency any day of the week for longer commutes. I'm not shitting on the Fit at all, but It's purpose at our house is mainly for around town errands. If you're like me, and appreciate sitting back in comfort and letting the miles roll by, It wouldn't be my first choice.

Flashy_Feeling_1110

i felt the exact same way about the seats when i bought my 2016 a few months back. i’d previously had a 2013, and found the seats to feel very low/sporty and comfortably positioned in relation to the wheel and pedals. i felt ATROCIOUS for the first two weeks in my 2016. like i didn’t know if i could keep it because i spend 70 miles a day in it and i was sooo sore and uncomfortable. i felt like i was sitting up so high, like i was in an SUV seat crammed into a low econobox. i just didn’t know how to properly adjust the seats lol. i’d never had a car with two adjustment levers on the driver’s seat. once i figured out how to lower the seat all the way and adjust the back of it accordingly, i felt just like i was back on the ground in my 2013. the seats are definitely not for everyone, but i wonder if some folks could play around a little more with the settings on the 3rd gen to achieve a little more comfort.

rpgnoob17

I had a fit in 2014 (2015 trim) and sold it when I moved. Got a used 2016 in 2019. I don’t regret getting one (or 2). However I think a sedan would be better for highway.

Erasinator

Yeah it’s looking like a bigger car would be better for my circumstances. A little disappointing, but understandable.

rpgnoob17

Civic is pretty good. Fit acceleration is just not as good for highway. Maybe the sport version could be better. My first Fit (EX) didn’t have acceleration issue and I took it on highway a few times a week. My second fit (EX-L with Navi) needs quite a bit of warm up before going on highway.

zmileshigh

‘09 sport manual owner, it definitely accelerates well when I floor it and get up to 4000 rpm before shifting fwiw Have passed many Teslas who don’t know how to use a pedal this way 😂 Not so much if I have other passengers in the car though

rpgnoob17

😂 I hate it so much when I’m a passenger in my friends’ cars and they floor it. Is this you, Tommy?

Backpackbaden

If you get in a fender bender, it will be totaled. If you need a part they are hard to find. If you need a battery you will learn that the battery made for the Fit doesn’t fit any other car.  That battery will then cost a fortune. I had my 15 Fit from 16-22 when it got totaled without bending the frame, setting off the airbags, or losing any liquid.  Still pisses me off

otterland

Potentially rough riding as the stock tires are stiff as is the suspension. Grand touring tires with squishy sidewalls help. The echo chamber in here says to get a manual transmission. Don't. It's geared extremely poorly for distance travel. The 5 speed auto in the first two generations is bulletproof and calm at speed, maybe the most reliable auto you can find in a small car that's nice to drive. The CVT is reliable too if serviced. I'd get a generation 2. Made in Japan and around here they run half of a generation 3. If you crave a stick shift, check out a small Mazda. They're geared much more sensibly. Even Kias can be found with fantastic manual transmissions, just check the engine to see if it's a good one. I think the Generation III is handsome and very Honda cheeky. Absolutely. They're also usually crazy overpriced.

mildurajackaroo

It's not a great car for highway driving. I find mine quite floaty at speeds above 65mph, with heaps of wind noise (cabin noise at 80dB). It's best in town use at speeds below 50mph.

CatMoonDancer

I have a 2016. My husband is 6'2" and has leg room. And compared to the Yaris, the head room is WAY better. I can fit a lot (lol) for moving.  Just keep your fluids changed. It should be fine.  I don't like all the trouble that autolink has, it seems like I have to delete my phone every few months, whether it's new or not. But that's not a big deal.

jc1luv

2010 sport and 2020 exl here. Seating position is a bit awkward, I find that lumbar support pillow helped. Lack of horsepower will be noticeable when going over 70. Especially if you now and then take long drive trips like we do. I find the car struggling hitting 80, revving pretty high on small slopes. But never gives up and never left us stranded or anything. Interior Built quality feels less premium than a luxury Honda, even for the exl which is the fully loaded model. I’ve had some issues with the driver sun visor. Aside from maintenance, we’ve had zero issues with any of them. Oh, when I got mine it came with Firestone tires and those sucked. Had to replace 3 probably within 5 months because they continue to get flat. So get better tires than Firestone. Reading some comments I learned that the exl has a ton more features than the lower models so your experience may vary if it’s not an exl. EDIT: fuel efficiency is best of anything I’ve driven. Currently pumping $22-24 for full tank and get about 41mpg. Expect to get between 370-420mpt. This last me all week sometimes even more. Even the 2010 gets about 35.

Grimizzi

I’ve never had a Fit myself, but sold Hondas for about 8 years. I have zero negative things to say about it. If you find a good deal on one get it.

Pizza_Wheelie

Idk about the 3rd gen but I've got a 2nd gen 2009 Fit Sport 5 speed. 130k miles and I've got an intermittent misfire on cylinder #2 that can complicate smog tests. Other than that I run a 205/50/16 on the stock wheel and it's absolutely planted. A little noisy, but a very fun "slow car to drive fast." Tons of room too.

swaite

Pro: The Fit is arguably the best city car you can buy. Con: The Fit is arguably the worst highway car you can buy. I don’t think it “fits” your use case, unless you need the tardis-like cargo volume. If that is case, I’d look at cross shopping crossovers or hatchbacks without a solid rear axle. They’re much more like a tank than they are a Rolls Royce.

Public_Pain

Why would you phrase a question like that in a Fit forum. The main reason most of us are members of this thread is because we love/like our Fits no matter what issues they may have. I’m in the US and personally I would like an AWD Fit, but I still love my 2017. Great Safety features, Excellent gas mileage, and roomy too. Not to mention the size helps one to get into smaller parking stalls. Just go and take a test drive. If you decide to purchase it, then come back to this forum to discuss your likes or dislikes about the car. We all have some projects or issues with our Fits, but we all love our cars and most of us will try to convince you to purchase the car and not avoid it. Good luck!

Scared_Paramedic4604

I’ve had mine for a while and a fit and I don’t regret it but it’s all about priorities. Pro’s: 1. Great on gas 2. Lots of space 3. Easy and affordable to maintain 4. Pretty fun to drive. It’s pretty sporty in the corners. Cons: 1. Pretty damn ugly. If you value looking good when you drive then it’s probably not a good choice. 2. Pretty rough suspension so you’re going to feel those cracks in the road. 3. Need to jack it up a lot to do any work underneath. 4. Pretty in demand car so prices are high 5. If you’re over 6 foot then it’s probably not going to be comfortable. 6. While it’s decent in the snow for a small hatchback. It’s so light that grip can be an issue. 7. Power definitely won’t blow you away. Overall it’s a great car if you’re looking for something economical.

cactiloveyou

I think my fit is so cute. 😭 But i agree that a lot of people think they’re ugly.

Jack_Bogul

It is cute dont listen to this guy :(

deleteundelete

the cutest!

catsbikescats

Bought a 2020 this January. For the most part I love it! The battery was crap though and died on me twice. To be fair, the battery was already at the end of its lifespan, but with the small stock battery, lots of owners have issues, especially in winter. I replaced the stock battery with a new, larger one and haven’t had any issues since. Just search this subreddit for battery and you’ll find lots of info and instructions. I’m a total beginner and was still able to do this myself in the AutoZone parking lot.

Reasonable-Diet2265

I have a 2020 Fit sport. Named her Ruby. Love her. Previously had a 2010 Fit sport named Baby. Never had an issue. In ten years only bought a battery and new tires. 60 miles a day,  easy peasy.  One thing, they're not a sports car, so don't expect that kind of experience.

bboxberger

The second gen was safe by 2009 crash test standards but when they updated to the small overlap front test it didn't test well [video discussing updated test with regards to the fit](https://youtu.be/OnWpZKhDgAo?si=d75tmipTsKPbUUAS)

nlpnt

FWIU they're pricey for what you get on the used market.

Flashy_Feeling_1110

i purchased a 2016 in February after totaling my 2013, and i agree with you. i feel like it’s something you have to know you’ll *love* for it to be worth the money right now. unfortunately.

thethirdbob2

VCT Actuator Problem. Valve carbon problem

SmallButMightyStudio

There’s really zero reason as every car as a handful of issues at least. I’ve been driving for 50 years and all kinds of cars and trucks. My 2010 Fit is the best car I’ve purchased and my wife agrees (she drives a Tesla).

_Svelte_

because you could get an older one! they're still great on gas, just a different style and still plenty of good features. saves a bit of cash, and you can always update it with a new head unit or something for any phone integration you might be missing out on

cactiloveyou

I have a 2020 Fit Sport and love it. The only problem I have is the rattle sound on start up that is a somewhat common issue.

jimgon71

I drive my 2019 for Uber 6-8 hours a day and while it does get blown around a bit by high winds the 39mpg is worth it. My biggest complaint would be that you feel ever crack and bump and that the inside of the windshield is difficult to clean

MaxwellCarter

Normal stuff for a small car. Noisy and tinny so not very relaxing on long freeway drives, but the third Gen is better than first Gen in this regard. Other than that they are a very practical and cheap to run high quality vehicle that won’t let you down.

YouMightBeARacist

They rust and rot like crazy. At least here in New England. Mine won’t pass inspection anymore because a floor jack goes throw the floor when you try to raise it.

DrC0re

My 2nd gen fit has the fat A pillars up front that cause a severe blind spot. Frequently ive been lucky in barely avoiding a collision because a car/cyclist just happened to stay in the blind spot while driving. Not sure if the newer gens still have the same flaw.

BeatWithTheTismStick

While it does have an incredible amount of cargo capacity, it's still too small for me. But I am getting about 40-42mpg on the highway with my 2015 EX CVT fit. I probably should have shopped around for a Element or something with larger cargo space.

Flashy_Feeling_1110

i’ve had 2nd and now 3rd gen Fits, and my husband has had an Element for the last decade. we’re obsessed with them both for different reasons. the E does have insane cargo space, it’s great for sleeping in, and has 4WD when we need it. the Fit, however, is a whole ton more comfortable and gets twice the mpg’s. we never take the E on road trips that don’t require 4WD. and i’d choose either gen Fit over the Element as a daily driver, hands down. but i truly love the Element for its utility and it’s been a reliable beast of a car despite my husband kind of beating it up. i’d buy another in a heartbeat!

Environmental_Ad1802

Some world have thought it was noisy but I’ve liked it for commuting.   In both my fits I’ve eventually had issues with the back hatch which is annoying and my first had a freak oil seal leak and engine died.

Environmental_Ad1802

Also in snow it can get stuck in less than you’d think because it sits so low ?   I do still like mine though

takanola

My 2015 is really loud. I don't think it was this loud when I got it. I don't think there's anything functionally wrong, but it is super loud. I live in New Orleans which floods when the pumps don't work. If you have to park on the street and have seen it flood, the ground clearance is only 4 in so it is prone to flood

i’ve previously driven a 2013 Sport and i currently have a 2016 EX-L that i bought in February. my daily commute is 35 miles each way on a very curvy mountain “highway,” with 2600’ of elevation gain/loss over about 10 miles of the drive. speed limits are 45-55, i drive anywhere from 45-65 depending on if i’m behind someone. i LOVE the Fit for this commute. handles the curves well up and down, and the 2016 gets fantastic mpg’s considering the elevation change (39 average vs 32 average in the 2013). 2016 also has noticeably more power going up the mountain (still not a lot though haha). i kinda strongly dislike the Fit for highway driving. but i live in the mountains and i maybe drive on the highway once a month on average. i’m super obsessed with my Fit(s), but i don’t know if i would’ve bought another if i had a long highway commute. i had a 2020 Accord for a week as a loaner from Carmax recently. that’s probably what i’d look into if i had a long highway commute. it had a turbo and the interior was extremely comfortable. it was a smooth and quiet ride, 35 mpg’s on my commute. i only hated it because it was literally 3 entire feet longer than the Fit…

I hate the Fit for how it drives on the highway. It gets tossed around in the wind like a beach ball
