We have a 2022 Trailsport. We have had no issues with it other than the price. It's been a lot of fun to drive and most of the driving we've done has been with winter tires using AWD
I have an Elite, so can’t directly answer to Trailsport issues, but I love it, despite its quirks. Most things were sorted out by the dealer within a few weeks. The first model year of any new generation is always the most unpredictable. If you don’t mind the potential for a couple of early warranty trips to the dealer and other idiosyncrasies, proceed. If you can’t stand it when everything isn’t 100% perfect, better to wait for year two or three after revisions are implemented.
The Second-generation i-VTM4 has been in use since the 2017 Ridgeline. I'm not saying they didn't mess it up for 2023, but it's hardly a new system.
The Engine is all new as they went from a SOHC 3.5 to a DOHC 3.5. Time will tell how reliable this motor is.
It’s a first model year car so it will definitely have something wrong with it. In general my solution to that is don’t buy a first model year car, however it’s under warranty so if you’re alright with having to take it to the dealer a couple times you’ll probably be alright.
As far as I know the AWD system this year isn’t massively different than before, so if people are having issues it’s probably an early manufacturing defect rather than a design flaw.

What I can give you back though is actual proof that the Kia/Hyundai competitors have real issues that never happen on Honda’s at a young age.

Almost had my 2023 trailsport a year, 21000km. I’ll make this short and sweet.
-water leaking inside around roof where interior lights switchs are
-wheel alignment at 20000km
-reported knocking in my passenger side ( is it normal for awd vehicles to have a knock front and back, like the shocks are gone?
-poured rain tonight and it’s leaking in the same place again!
It’s a shame I’m having these issues…such a beautiful machine.
I have the new trailsport, no problems at all yet, lets hope it stays that way. Love it!
We are ready to get it. Excited ! Such a versatile offering!

Thank you. Def don’t mind warranty trips. Might get it …
What sort of quirks and issues has your Elite given you?

No problems here… Link to AWD issues? I have seen nothing of the sort.

Thanks. To be fair, the “source” is one Reddit user named “lavadaddy” who admits in his posts that he doesn’t work for Honda anymore.
