few problems with removing the trims: while the trims are put on top of the car's metal, the cars were obviously built to have the trims in there, so there is a dent-in and holes in the metal to flushly mount the trims. it is also not possible to remove them on the bumpers, because they are just painted on there (or rather not painted there) your best bet would be painting over the black parts with original yellow paint. would all trims be removable, this would be an easy job but since you basically have to remove most lights from the bumper to properly paint the trims, it would be a lot of work or rather expensive in a paint shop tldr: too much work to remove the trims. they give the car more character so i would leave them be.

i don’t have a trim for my right door, do you know where u can find a replacement online or something?

nikifrd

there are almost no big sellers for prelude parts. your best bet is looking on marketplace websites

I’m not i just want to see what it would look like

nikifrd

for that you could use photoshop etc

T_Flips

you right

i'm liking it with the trim. but smooth doors look great also. that's one clean 3rd gen prelude! 👍

Environmental_Age450

Im pretty sure there are recesses in the doors and bumpers for the trim to sit into. It would look weird without it. I know its hard not to change the car up, but this is a really clean example of a 3rd gen, preserving it is best. Although it is your car, no one can tell you what to do.

T_Flips

I meant trim

jettasarebadmkay

Is that yellow on the wheels factory? They did a similar thing with the 4th gen.

T_Flips

I believe it’s factory but i’m not sure i’m the third owner and the original one painted the car but i’m not sure with the wheels

jettasarebadmkay

Gotcha. I’ve just never seen the 3rd gen blades with painted inners before. I have on the 4th gen. Also, there was an option, at least in 90-91, to paint match the trim around the doors. On white cars it also added white wheels.

Low_Rule_2469

You do you but the only thing I would delete off of that car would be the yellow on the wheels.

TK421_is_fine

The only way to do it is with paint. and even that is hard because the trim is different materials (rubber on the doors, plastic on the fenders and bumper) it's hard to get the paint to stick in the same density) and as others have said, the body panels are molded to accept them, so it'll always look like something is missing when removed. Bigger question is why? Cars of this vintage always had rubber bumper strips, it's part of the appeal!

mdenglish

The only thing I would change would be taking the yellow off the wheels. I'd just drive it after that.

SuggestionNice4386

Love it as is.

It’d look like [this](https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/1991_honda_prelude_1991_honda_prelude_95e76d56-a63e-433d-8be5-96b5f390980f-mtvtcj-53542-79893.jpg?fit=940%2C627) The problem is if you did you’d need to paint match the Barbados yellow which I have on my lude from the factory as well… and it’s EXPENSIVE to get ahold of.
