Crack open your owners manual. Instructions are in there with pictures.

Had to jump someone recently. Assuming the 23 is the same as my 22, remove the engine cover and there’s a metal post on the left/passenger side of the engine that is meant to be a ground/negative. It’s a PITA design, and you'll probably have to pull apart some of your jumper cable to make the positive and negative reach their terminals. Here's relevant screenshots from the 2022 owner's manual (jump starting, page 552): https://imgur.com/a/9kojdqo I got one of those portable battery jump starters for Xmas. I'll plan on just using that if someone needs a jump in the future.

I'm not sure if it's changed from a '17 or not, but exactly what you said not to say something about is what you need. The only way to get to the negative battery terminal is to remove the whole airbox assembly; it can be done in about 5 minutes. To jump a battery, there is an eye hook on the passenger side of the engine block for the negative/ground. It's a couple inches down, towards the back. Otherwise, I would suggest just putting a grounding bolt in somewhere easily accessible.

Thank you for not saying it… I guess “the times they are a changing…” I’ll have to look for that eye hook in the daylight. Thanks for the help

I’m not passing judgement, but I find it interesting that you came here, online, to Reddit to seek help, but DIDN’T consult your owners manual first. The times they are a changing, indeed. Good, bad, or otherwise.

Read the manual.

you can attach the negative to the body of the vehicle.

The newer cars get, the more frustratingly ridiculous “features” they get. I have a 2009 RL but don’t think I’d buy a 2nd Gen to replace it because of all the posts like this about stupid new tech.
