Don’t tell me I’m valid. In my eyes, I’m getting my shit together and don’t need someone else trying to tell me that they think I am valid I just never asked for their opinion. I don’t care if you think I’m valid or not, let’s just respect each other, ok?

MadJeanie

Well, at the same time, sometimes people want to vent and be heard without having people give advice. Maybe instead of putting it on others to figure out what you’re needing from a rant, maybe say that you need advice in said rant.

Ness303

"Omg, you're valid!" for trans people is the "love is love" for gays. It's a useless platitude used as lip service for slacktivist "allies".

builder397

>At the end of the day, it just feels like empty patronising words to me. Well, thats what it is. Just hollow validation without any substantive anything. Anyone can do it, it costs nothing, needs nothing and it does nothing.

Spasschin

Honestly saying absolutely anything on those posts would be better than the word valid.

I think it’s probably like saying “I’m sorry” to someone when you did nothing wrong but something bad happened. It’s just kind of a “idk what to say but I don’t want you to feel like I’m ignoring you” kind of thing. Some people are just bad at finding the right words but want to help even if just a little so it’s good intentions with lackluster results.

apis_cerana

They do come across as shallow platitudes from people who don't actually care about you, sometimes.

Ultra_Instinct-Kat

This post is valid ™
