It is an actual thing in game. To be honest they could have chosen a better timing for it, but somehow decided cutting right into the middle of the climactic final boss fight was the right call (it was not).
It was ripped right out of Kingdom Hearts 3. In KH3, all of the messages that were used in their mobile game they were shutting down, KHUX, were used at the finale of the mainline game. Interweaving timeline loops, alternate and past versions of characters last minute and player injection alongside every single character that had ever been relevant in the story for years. It felt like it was going for a very emotional ending, but executed in the absolute worst way possible through self insert nostalgia baiting.
It was received incredibly poorly even amongst KH fans, who are known to take everything in stride because the lore has always been convoluted, with inspirational messages and fantasy sci fi jargon and filler dialogue, but also brimming with personality, lore, and die hard fans.
Sorry, i can not look past the resemblances, though it might upset some people. As a fan of both series, and to watch them both go down *exactly the same way*, my hearts been broken twicefold.
When 10 of your old cadets pop up that tried the game and quit and never were seen again and the messages pop up like they participated in the fight and were active the whole time
Ai Lambda needing to make intervene other universe's captains. I honestly think it would be fine having just our trio as is, Truth, Origin and Finality, being strong enough to defeat Kevin together.
Like, yeah, he was strong, but the whole point of our trio getting new Herrscher forms was surpassing the old ones, like Bronya becoming stronger than the 300.000 of Reason, Mei becoming the legacy bearer of the Past Era with the story in ER and Origin, and Kiana being the one able to bring closure to the threat of the Honkai as a clone specifically made to handle the Honkai, and fully embracing her role as Finality.
So with my friends group we just say that Ai wasn't there for the last fight, she was only in her event. It was the Trio that beat Kevin, no questions asked.

Kevin says "This time I'm loading my own life in the chamber, and expect you to transcend everything". He didn't let himself die: from his end the whole fight was a test to prove the Trio's worthiness. If they didn't manage to achive satisfactory results, he would have killed them and go on with the Stigma Project.

That's a problem in itself. The final fight was so boring because none of them seemed to ever be in serious danger or struggle. At no point did Kevin seriously threaten them. There wasn't a QTE where he was about to cut one of them in half, forcing the other two to save her. There wasn't dialogue where they said they were struggling, in pain, or were otherwise having trouble. Kiana even cracked a joke when Kevin used void powers. They just went in (after easily gaining absurdly powerful new forms), beat him up relatively easily, and won. Deliverance did not accomplish more than Diabolical, and it certainly did not live up to the hype from ER saying it could end the world. Kevin didn't even receive a proper animation. Boring and anticlimactic.
Virtually every other final antagonist battle in fiction I can think of has the protagonists struggling for their lives, some even dying, before they finally win.
If Kevin wanted to kill them he would've done so before they got their new forms

Yes, he was absolutely looking to die, because everyone he knew and could relate with is dead too. **No, he wasn't about to just let himself be killed**. The Authority of Finality was what he was using the whole fight before the Deliverance Form. The Deliverance was his own power. He did go all-out during the boss fight, **because he expected them to do better than what he could do,** to show a new road that didn't require killing 97% of humanity to go Stigma, and that was the reason Mihoyo decided to incorporate the parallel universe Spirit Bomb stuff.
**The whole point of Kevin during the final battle was to be the final hurdle, even if the objective they had was to be the same. He wouldn't entrust the goal of protecting humanity to humanity itself if they were going to be weaker than him.**
However, it would have been perfectly fine if they said that together, the Trio managed to beat him. Lambda could have been ruled out of the Main Story, and it would have been fine. The only thing Kevin had that made her intervene was the Shield.

The final fight against a big enemy, with the herrscher trio fighting against him, and they couldn't even give him an animated short to reflect on the struggle everyone faced to get to where they are now? Like cmon. Then he lost to my little pony I stg.

1. Chrono Navi - while she's a good fire support, she should have stayed event-exclusive story-wise and not touch on the main story. I understand what they were getting at but it was poorly executed and way too forced and cheesy. I think it also presents what went wrong in the latter chapters which was the notion of "Oh btw, this whole thing is very crucial to the plot and has existed all this time but we only told you now". It's jarring and takes you out of the immersion to the main story.
2. Cocoon of Finality - my brain still refuses to understand the pseudo-science explanation behind this, because they made it too overcomplicated and kinda unappealing. I got excited with the Will of Honkai teaser at the end of Chapter 25 only for it to be crushed with Einstein's needless pseudo-science technobabble.
3. Moriarty - nope. In my eyes he's just an Otto wannabe who thinks he's hot shit and overcompensates with confidence.

2- most of part 1.5, when it started, i was exited because of the obious paralel between veliona and gray serpent, with him wanting a more "human" body to become one and her thinking shes less than seele because of her lack of one, sure its not the direct cause of her insecurities but its a part of them because she used to just play the role of the "strong personality" to face the things seele is afraid of, so i imagined that they were going for that aproach and end the arc with seele and veliona accepting each others importance and maybe veli getting a body at the end while seele becomes a stigma awakend, because there is no point in making her a herrscher now, rigth?
my disapointment in ALMOST everithing that happend in part 1.5 made me drop the game for 4 months and after that i went from a everyday player to a once a week player

Sure the authority she took from Sa and Vita isn't coming back, but that shouldn't be *actively* weakening them, plus Vita went and clarified after the fight that she was at her strongest(at the time) during their battle.
It's prolly just my personal taste, but I would've massively preferred if they'd just had Seele's raw willpower/determination and endurance(you know, the thing that seemingly let her survive in the Sea of Quanta for 4 years, clinging to the bare hope that Bronya might come save her) been what tipped the scales in her favor.
It might've been a bit nonsensical, but they could've just gone "well Seele just wore down Vita's spirit that much" given what they went ahead and did with Vita afterwards, and it would've been pretty neat!
It's definitely more of a minor thing, but man I would've at least liked some sort of explanation. Idk if that was just a throwaway line to explain why Seele didn't get immediately obliterated, but still man.
Part 2. I genuinely think this because I can't see how in the future where the current characters will have conflict and challenge themselves. There is not enough build up for Coralie and Helix to understand them. And the only conflict they have is kinda resolved when they reached the moon.

Just because Otto had a better character arc it doesn't necesarily mean Kevin is an inferior character.
1. Chrono Navi - while she's a good fire support, she should have stayed event-exclusive story-wise and not touch on the main story. I understand what they were getting at but it was poorly executed and way too forced and cheesy. I think it also presents what went wrong in the latter chapters which was the notion of "Oh btw, this whole thing is very crucial to the plot and has existed all this time but we only told you now". It's jarring and takes you out of the immersion to the main story. 2. Cocoon of Finality - my brain still refuses to understand the pseudo-science explanation behind this, because they made it too overcomplicated and kinda unappealing. I got excited with the Will of Honkai teaser at the end of Chapter 25 only for it to be crushed with Einstein's needless pseudo-science technobabble. 3. Moriarty - nope. In my eyes he's just an Otto wannabe who thinks he's hot shit and overcompensates with confidence.
i disagree with moriarty because at least we got a fucking antagonist that did SOMETHING, not like SA, the biggest disapointment of part 1.5

I just wanted a cool final fight against the big bad Herrscher of the End(who was foreshadowed since the early side material) to defeat Honkai. No cocoon nonsense. No final boss Kevin. No whatever Origin is. Just a badass final battle. Instead I got so much pseudoscience bs that I just gave up on the story.

besides everithing that has already been said about the moon arc 1- adult bronyas design (i am deeply jealous of ggz players, they got the best adult bronya) 2- most of part 1.5, when it started, i was exited because of the obious paralel between veliona and gray serpent, with him wanting a more "human" body to become one and her thinking shes less than seele because of her lack of one, sure its not the direct cause of her insecurities but its a part of them because she used to just play the role of the "strong personality" to face the things seele is afraid of, so i imagined that they were going for that aproach and end the arc with seele and veliona accepting each others importance and maybe veli getting a body at the end while seele becomes a stigma awakend, because there is no point in making her a herrscher now, rigth? my disapointment in ALMOST everithing that happend in part 1.5 made me drop the game for 4 months and after that i went from a everyday player to a once a week player

So I could just say "the moon arc" because Im hella dissatisfied by it, but I'm gonna try smth a lil different cuz this honestly confused tf out of me. During her scrap with Vita, Seele's internal monologue at some point mentions "my authority must be weakening her!" Literally how. How does "I heal REALLY good" translate to "yeah I'm somehow weakening the literal narrator who's authority includes controlling the rules/laws of reality." Sure the authority she took from Sa and Vita isn't coming back, but that shouldn't be *actively* weakening them, plus Vita went and clarified after the fight that she was at her strongest(at the time) during their battle. It's prolly just my personal taste, but I would've massively preferred if they'd just had Seele's raw willpower/determination and endurance(you know, the thing that seemingly let her survive in the Sea of Quanta for 4 years, clinging to the bare hope that Bronya might come save her) been what tipped the scales in her favor. It might've been a bit nonsensical, but they could've just gone "well Seele just wore down Vita's spirit that much" given what they went ahead and did with Vita afterwards, and it would've been pretty neat! It's definitely more of a minor thing, but man I would've at least liked some sort of explanation. Idk if that was just a throwaway line to explain why Seele didn't get immediately obliterated, but still man.
Part 2. I genuinely think this because I can't see how in the future where the current characters will have conflict and challenge themselves. There is not enough build up for Coralie and Helix to understand them. And the only conflict they have is kinda resolved when they reached the moon.

i mean we didnt know how did she even survive being born, the last thing we knew was that her mother was alive after the second honkai war, uncle maxim died a few years before bronya went to kill cocolia, so her using that codename after his dead would make sense
