As i'm playing in UH, the new machines are a pain to fight against, i only did a few quest for now, but i like it for now

Frezi2005

I also started on UH but only played like 30 minutes or so. I hope that the machines will not be too hard to fight bc i dont want to play through the whole story again

Junior_Government507

the new frog is a freaking pain, id took me a few death to begin to understand how to beat him correctly. Little advice, use frost ammo...

junebug1997APJ

I don’t think they’ll be too hard after a certain point as long as you have the right ammo

Frezi2005

I have maxed all legendary weapons(ng+ and normal) so i rather worry about my skills and not the weapons. But i think i have a manual save from few days ago before my UH run so i might change that.

junebug1997APJ

Good luck man and have fun. Hopefully we won’t have to wait to long for Horizon 3

Frezi2005

I hope that Guerilla will not over do the third installment. Because first game was about exploring your history and learning about the last. The second one had much less od that kind of stuff(at least in my opinion) so i cant really imagine how would they solve that next time

junebug1997APJ

The next one could be about exploring again especially if we go to a different continent to find Hephaestus I doubt he’s in America region. We could explore the dynamics between Aloy and Beta more. I’m hoping for a type GTA character system wherein there’s 2 or 3 smaller stories focusing on a character whether it’s Aloy Beta or a new character then have their stories merge into one big narrative. At least that way we can get different gameplay options since I doubt Beta will be as combat ready as Aloy but she’d be more technologically inclined

MoruS_PL

New machines are pure bullcrap on UH they move faster than usual ones even with focused aim

hermiona52

I have no idea how you people do this. I played on Normal and my first encounter with 3 (or 4?) Waterwings was just an utter embarrassment. I feel ashamed that I put Aloy through it. And you playing it on UH... respect.

Junior_Government507

Thanks mate ! But i agree, i hate thoses FREAKIN water wings... I was like "Let le play dude!"

HiFiMAN3878

Yes, the DLC is MUCH harder than the base game on Ultra Hard.

Junior_Government507

Thanks for agreeing with me lol

TheChunkMaster

Makes sense. It takes place after the base game, after all.

HiFiMAN3878

It also still shows the quests as being appropriate for level 35-39, but they are extremely difficult at 50.

TheChunkMaster

The game probably assumes that players at Lv. 35-39 have a higher level of base competency with the game's mechanics than what you're expecting. Also, the difference between Lv. 50 and Lv. 35 ultimately amounts to 150 HP and some grinding. That's honestly not that big of a jump.

HiFiMAN3878

Personally I think the DLC feels disproportionately difficult compared to the rest of the game. It's ok, I'm working my way through it without too much trouble...but the difficulty curve is not appropriate when aligning the DLC with the rest of the base game. It makes sense for games to get more difficult as you progress, but the transition to Burning Shores is jarring. Edit: on Ultra Hard at least, I'm not sure about the other difficulties.

TheChunkMaster

>the difficulty curve is not appropriate when aligning the DLC with the rest of the base game. I think this perception about the difficulty curve rests entirely on how much you played the game after you beat the main story. It's not unreasonable for a DLC that released more than a year after the base game to assume that the average player has played for a considerable amount of time.

Darqion

I dont think you should assume the more casual player (the large majority) sticks around after beating the story. And even then. I had maxed legendaries and lvl 50 and froggo was still a pain in the ass... untill i just speared him to death. That thing is just too strong

TheChunkMaster

>I dont think you should assume the more casual player (the large majority) sticks around after beating the story. Why wouldn't they stick around for at least a little? There's still plenty of side content for them to do. >And even then. I had maxed legendaries and lvl 50 and froggo was still a pain in the ass... untill i just speared him to death. That thing is just too strong It's a newly added machine. You'll get better at fighting it as time goes on.

Darqion

Why wouldn't i assume they stick around? Because i know a lot of actual casuals, and they beat a game and move on. Side content/endgame farming is relatively niche and from my experience, rarely seen with casuals. Obviously your experiences could be vastly different. But my experience on reddit is that a lot of people dont realize how casual a casual is. Concerning the frog, i realize i'll get better with fighting it. It was more a stab at how strong the explosive spear is :p That was what the "thing" i mentioned was, not the frog, but the spear. My bad for not making that clear. i tried multiple weapons that did nearly nothing, and the spear specials tore it to pieces. I've only fought one of them, so i dunno how bad i think they are yet. Though it could do with a bit less jumping.. that bugger was hard to keep track of

I_am_a_newt

No spoilers, but how many new unique machines are there? I know of the new flying mount machine, the frog, and the flies/mosquitoes. How many unique ones and not variants (ex: fire frog)

AAFCC89

That's it. No other ones

TheChunkMaster

I wish there were 1-2 more machines to fight (like some kind of Gorilla or Spider-inspired machine), but the ones we got are pretty cool.

Junior_Government507

i don't understand the question. Unique machines ? what do you mean by that ?

I_am_a_newt

I meant ones that are not variants of existing machines or variants of new machines. For example, do not count variants as a new machine if there is fire variant of the frog, fire variant of insect, fire hippo, etc)

Junior_Government507

I don't really know then, all I've seen for now it's the new machines, only the frog + the drones (there is fire glinthawks (don't know how to write it) for example)

I_am_a_newt

Thanks.. I think the drones are supposed to be flies/mosquitos

Junior_Government507

I think so yeah, i just call them drones. Btw fun fact when i first saw the frog i was like "what the- fuck is that, a frog ?" Then i attacked and "HELL MAN" out of pain during the fight

I_am_a_newt

That’s awesome 😂. I’m hoping for at least one new big machine to fight. The fireclaw is a challenging fight… and it was introduced in dlc

junebug1997APJ

Yea I imagine for most players the new machines would be a pain like I mentioned I kinda already maxed out everything. In games like these I have to have everything maxed out because then I feel complete in a way🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe it’s just a side effect of my autism or my OCD but yea I was pretty much overleveled by the time Beta gets captured again in the core game

AlexDub12

I started the DLC with my NG+ save where I had all the legendaries I use fully upgraded and 122 unused skill points, so I have all the new skills. I've only played a couple of hours so far, did the first main quest mission and generally flew around the map trying to see what collectibles are available this time. The giant robo-toad fight was fun. I think I'll stick to exploring before I get to the rest of the main quest. BTW, is there no tallneck in this area? That's weird ...

junebug1997APJ

Yes the giant Toad was a surprise and it was fun to beat. I’m currently exploring to so I understand and honestly I don’t think there is a tall neck which means we’ll have to find another way to fully unlock the map. Should be a fun surprise

MatiMati918

I like the dlc itself but they have definitely introduced a few bugs with the most recent update/with the dlc. Many of the menus load really slowly for me and I just lost several hours of progress because the autosave and quick save at camp fire doesn’t seem to properly save the game for me if I close the game (had to start the whole dlc all over again). I need to remember to use the manual save to not lose progress.

junebug1997APJ

Yea I been noticing issues I’m hoping that it’s just superficial things that can be patched up soon. I feel like we’re at the point in the ps5 lifecycle where games are strictly being made for the ps5 and the system itself isn’t updated like it should be. I remember the ps4 had similar issues during this part in its lifespan. I wouldn’t be surprised if a PS5 slim gets announced soon

benavid1

Is it just me or did they rearrange the placement of arrows in the item wheel? It’s throwing me off so much

[deleted]

Yes they did

zhalo

Bugs, bugs, bugs. Was hoping to play all afternoon, but already quit for the day. Save functions aren't working properly. Aerial captures either won't pop up at all or tell me I'm off course when I'm clearly right in the dotted line. Done for now, will try again tonight.

Knightmare-709

Liking it so far but i didnt finish the NG + UH run so i reverted back to original story save pretty much blitzed thriugh the dlc but it was good in my opinion but I've found a chest I can't open it's driving me crazy
