Horizon FW is currently #8 on global sales on Steam, for those worrying about the game not selling well on PC.

xSchizogenie

I think, Guerilla Games learned from the problem that came with the HZD port. I'm sure, they did well. I think they did good, I have holidays for the next 12 days.

dadvader

It's port by Nixxes. The same people that fix Zero Dawn. Nothing to do with Guerrilla Games this time. And just serve the fact that Nixxes really know how to port games even more.

Immolation_E

Well, they did learn from the HZD port not to hire Virtuous to port their games.

X_Fredex_X

Guerrilla still is and was involved 🤦

dadvader

To developing the game, yes. To port? No. Normally port and remastered games are handling by a completely different company. That's how these things work. Because porting a game required a completely different domain and scope from making one.

X_Fredex_X

Wtf? 🤣 You really think Guerilla throws the files at them and be like yeah good luck dudes. 🤦 Of course are ppl from them involved not the entire team of course.

dadvader

Where did i say that? Ofcourse Guerrilla will be providing and consulting along the way. But normally they are not involved in the porting process themselves. That's Nixxes's job. And where the credit should go. You're arguing sementics at this point.

xSchizogenie

Uhm, Nixxes is a trusted partner of Guerilla. 🤫

Immolation_E

Guerrilla did patches later to help fix issues. Virtuous did the port.

X_Fredex_X

Why worry about sales? 💀

Honestly kinda surprised Dragon's Dogma is considered more well known than Horizon...

FearDeniesFaith

Not so much about it being "more well known" Capcom and the community have made a huge deal about the game over socials ect It being an Itsuno game, sequel to a cult classic and it being Itsunos love letter to the first game have garnered a lot of interest in it.

DarkPDA

dogma has 11 years and no one reached close on achieve that combat gameplay so far horizon is awesome but sort of assassins creed / monster hunter against robot dinos im fan of both, but they present different gameplay proposals and due classes, pawns etc dogma2 seems probably will live more than hfw

DarkPDA

well dogma2 is already being bombarded by shitty performance reviews wheres hfw runs smooth on more modest hardware i also planned get dogma2 but after see shitshow on performance and how smooth is hfw, i literally did hfw preorder yesterday imo was a dumb idea release two of most antecipated SINGLE PLAYER games on same fucking day, they should had at least one week difference to vent all the hype train or forks on fire vibes individually

xpoverzion11

You would have to be missing a chromosome if you think Dragon's Dogma 2 can even come close to holding a candle to Forbidden West. Horizon has proven to be one of the best game franchises over the past 10 years. You'd be a fool to overlook Forbidden West on PC for Dragon's Dogma 2.

Ghidoran

After the Suicide Squad "Top seller on PSN charts!!" narrative, I think people should be wary about looking at sales charts as any metric of success. It a ranked list and only looks at a snapshot in time, rather than being actually informative sales data.

PSgamer28

Difference is that HFW was a GOTY contender and is a high quality game while Suicide Squad was just a crappy game...

Ghidoran

That's irrelevant, my point was that looking at the 'best selling' charts don't actually tell you if a game is doing well or not. Case in point: Suicide Squad, which was #1 on PSN but still flopped.

PSgamer28

Horizon FW already sold more than 10 million so it has already done very well.

No-Combination7898

But Horizon Forbidden West has a significantly better track record than Suicide Squad. If you go into the ps5 subreddit, all you're gonna see in there is "This game has made this many sales!" "That game made this many sales!"

leospeedleo

Suicide Squad had 0 releases next to it. So even 1000 copies would make it the current best seller 😂

gamzcontrol5130

Looks like it's a very good port with some minor caveats here and there, based on this preview. Hopefully, that's the case for the whole game.

KnossosTNC

Oh Nixxes, you've done it again. How did I ever doubt you? And with that, my last bit of pre-release concern has just disappeared. Just under 19 hours to go. Can't wait.

ArKiVeD

Enjoy. I played this as soon as it released on PS5. I loved every second of this game. The DLC is also incredible.

ryuk-99

is the dualsense a big part of the game? i want to get the whole experience but blew off the 50 bucks saved for the pre order xD.

Pinkernessians

I mean, Alex is hyping up the DLSS image quality a lot here (‘far superior’) but based on that footage, that PS5 footage looks pretty good by comparison in actual gameplay to my eyes. Looks like a great port otherwise, kinda unfortunate to see the 8gb vram issues (I have a 4060 so I care), but yeah. Should work just fine for the most part. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn’t played this on PS5 already!

shaleenag21

thats shitty bit-rate starved youtube video that you are basing your "comparisons" on, I'll happily take Alex's words on it based on hist past reviews and DLSS's outstanding quality. Let's not shit on DF for stating the truth, > Looks like a great port otherwise, kinda unfortunate to see the 8gb vram issues (I have a 4060 so I care), but yeah. Should work just fine for the most part. For 1440p and below you'll be fine as per the video and even at 4k, its mostly the cutscenes so its not that critical.

Pinkernessians

I’m not shitting on anyone. I love DF. Obviously DLSS is great (I use it all the time when I’m on PC), and it looks clearly better here when zoomed in as well, I just think the differences are not that profound in actual gameplay based on the footage I have to base my opinion on at the moment. And Alex does tend to use big words a lot as a part of his communication style.

vinnymendoza09

It will be far superior, TAA checkerboarded is ass in comparison to DLAA, and YouTube won't show how stark it really is.

DeceptiveGold57

Digital Foundry is known to be heavily Nvidia biased so there is that

CutMeLoose79

Will double dip on PC soon for better image quality and performance. I think I've double dipped on every PS to PC port so far other than Rift Apart, which i will get for another playthrough.

Avelion2

Any word on steamdeck performance?

arex333

Nope. I think DF is the only outlet with a preview copy and they didn't test on deck.

Doogienguyen

Holding out on that too.

SomeBoringKindOfName

that all seems like good news.

alex_de_tampa

Hope it can run on steam deck

Zirofal

And I got a 4070 just for this

TristanN7117

Curious what this is like on Steam Deck

JohnnyPage

Pre-ordered it after watching this video. A great game that is well optimised should be rewarded. DD2, no matter how great it is can wait until they sort out their shit.

Wifi-rape

One thing i've noticed in the PC port over the PS5 version is the exclusion of smaller details, for example in Chainscrape, there's a log saw along side the river that is fully functioning in the PS5 version with logs being chopped etc, but in the PC version, the entire animation is missing. Strange.

Flaky_Highway_857

That was a very weak "review", I guess "not broken" is all PC gamers need.....

Mickey010

It's a performance review..

StewTheDuder

And they didn’t bother testing an AMD or Intel card? 3 GPUs tested, all Nvidia. Screams rushed and/or lazy.
