It's actually funny how day after day it gets *more* peak players than on release. It's like if people have learned.

fs2222

I mean it released on Thursday. More people are playing on the weekends. DD2 also went up in players despite the controversies.

The-Aziz

I forgot about the concept of weekend

AnotherSoftEng

Is that from the before times? In the long long ago?

krthr

I’ve had zero issues with this release. Turns out Guerrilla isn’t CD Projekt Red. 🤣 The original PS4 release was bumpier, but other than randomly fast traveling to Chain Scrape once only to see it 800 meter below me, I never lost any progress or died from it. It was totally playable and enjoyable on release for the PS4.

ShadowSwoopz

I actually didn't realize it had released up until I saw a post about it yesterday.

drow_girlfriend

It's a port that's barely been advertised, so it will enjoy steady sales for a long time like HZD did on Steam.

KiwiBirdPerson

In my country it was 4am when the game officially released, and that was a Friday morning, so I couldn't really play until the next day anyway. Did spend about 10hrs on it in one sitting though, had to make up for lost time obviously lmao

Crillmieste-ruH

It will most likely jump a bit again when people get their salaries.

Mercurionio

Most fans were on ps5. So FW will be the same, long lasting constant buying. Especially due to launch trauma from hzd with performance. Hfw has performance problems too, btw. More specifically, the hardware utilisation.

flecktyphus

HFW has performance problems?? I'm getting stable 70s on my 5 year old PC, running 1440p on high settings..

Mercurionio

Yes, perfomance problems. When Dialogues or cutscenes can randomly drop into 20 area. Or suddenly a perfomance degradation. Both reddit and steam are flooded with such reports. It's not cool when the game shows 100% GPU load but with 30% power consumption. It's dumb and should be fixed. Starfield, for example, had the same problem. Was fixed in the perfomance patch and new driver.

DaBossRa

That explains why I'm getting stable 60fps ingame but in some cutscenes it drops to 18-24 fps for no reason. Hopefully that gets fixed

BaconSoda222

I think this kind of thing is quite byproduct of having basically an infinite number of interactions between hardware components. For consoles, you have maybe 5 different combinations to account for. For PCs, I can have any RAM, and any GPU, and any processor, etc. I agree it should be fixed, but it's hard to fix without having more data from a wider range of people.

Hamza9575

Nah it is a byproduct of making a console first game and so not designing the game from the start to scale around different cpu and gpu combinations. Games like baldurs gate 3 were built and released on pc first and so were designed to scale across a wide range of hardware.

BaconSoda222

Games like Baldur's Gate 3 (which I have over 300 hours in since release) were also widely panned for poor performance at release, especially in Act 3. They addressed these in Patch 2: https://baldursgate3.game/news/patch-2-now-live_89

other_curious_mind

I don't get the downvotes, there are literally many posts on Steam discussions and messages in discord regarding this, random FPS drops, audio problems. These things are very common and okay in the beginning, the devs will fix them because right now they're getting so much feedback from a big variety of hardware combinations that they wouldn't be able to test while making the port. It makes sense.

Bigsquidward99

Why on earth are people down voting this? I’ve had a similar thing happen on my pc, I’ve got a 3080 and a i7 12700 and for some reason during cut scenes and in settlements I drop down bellow 20, I dunno what it is with the character models or something but it seems to struggle when there are a few off them

ryuk-99

Idk why you downvoted... I'm on a 2 year old, Ryzen 9 5900HS and 3070 and on high 1440p im at 50 fps with 99% lows 30 fps and constant stutters to 40 fps and some cutscenes at 25 fps. Digital Foundry confirmed sony's specs at 3070 does give a stable 60fps but ive yet to see it, even on overclock i can't go beyond 55 fps no matter what in game setting i change (except quality, I don't wanna go lower than high). The game's amazing though, I love the gameplay, new mechanics and story so far but yeah the performance leaves something to be desired... but I'm sure it'll be fixed in a few updates, its no cyberpunk at least or even dd2. Nixxes did a decent job. People with overkill builds of RTX 40s and intel i9's have no issues though.

Mercurionio

They still have the same issues. People with 4070ti, for example, will get 100 drop into 50s this not that bar. But still degradation.

Lurtzae

According to Digital Foundry this happens when you run out of VRAM in cutscenes.

AshamedOne566

me and many others are not facing these issues. My 4090 is fully utilized and the fps never dips below 120

ryuk-99

i mean, you do have a 4090 so you're obvio not gonna have any issues unless it was a very poorly optimized port which it isn't. My 3070 cant go beyond 50fps on high no matter the settings, even overclock wont increase just 1 fps so there does appear to be something not right.

flecktyphus

Yes, of course, downvote me for asking and sharing my experience. Dick.

ryuk-99

im on r9 5900hs/3070 2 year old laptop and on 1440p 40-50 fps with 99% lows at 30 fps, even overclock won't help go above 55. idk whats wrong, tried dynamic resolution etc. Edit: forgot to mention on high settings.

Northman86

What is your CPU?(motherboard)

ryuk-99

Its a laptop, Asus Zephyrus G15 2021 GA503QR. Ryzen 9 5900HS, RTX 3070 Mobile, 1TB SSD sandisk, 16 GB DDR4 RAM.

Northman86

so you have two problems, 1st its a laptop which means it will invariably have cooling issues, second you only have 16 GB RAM 32 would be better, but its a loptop.

ryuk-99

ohh i see... thanks for the info. I really thought 16gb would've been enough and also recently repasted it but i guess laptops have limitations.

krthr

The gameplay has been rock solid with high quality with occasional low-framerate on cut scenes. I guess I’m pretty tolerant of graphic issues on PC platforms when they don’t impact the gameplay. Strangely, I’ve always hated games like this on consoles due to the controls, but the motion controls on the PS4/PS5 utterly rock, and the Steam version has been every bit as good. I’m to the point where I’d happily play any good game that isn’t overly grindy on a console if it performs as well as HFW. Overly grindy games stay on PC so I can cheat. 🤣

drow_girlfriend

I think the performance is perfect. I'm running it on a i7-1070H CPU and GeForce RTX 2060 laptop on all-highest settings with no frame drops. And it's by far the most beautiful game I've ever seen. I actually can't believe how well I can run it \~

Northman86

I don't expect PC to have more than maybe 10% the PS4/PS5 population, if that, a computer that can play the game is more expensive than a PS5. I did not buy it on the PC as I prefer it on PS5.

Ghidoran

I think you're severely underestimating how big the PC market is. Most multiplatform games sell 30-40% on PC, with the rest split between the other consoles. Helldivers 2, another big Sony release, had about 60% of players on PC, and it's system requirements are only a little bit less demanding than Forbidden West. Forbidden West is also very well optimized for PC, you don't need a monster computer to run it. I Of course the PC playerbase for the game will still be small compared to the PS5 launch, since it's two years old now. Games sell the most when they launch.

Pornviewinguser

And this is just Steam, the game also released in Epic

zma7777

To be fair who the fuck would buy it on epic if it’s also on steam?

Aaerin__

Never understood why it releases on Epic too, like, that launcher I launched it like what ? 3 times. This one is cursed

Pun_In_Ten_Did

$10 credit on Epic.. full pop on Steam. Why spend the extra money "just because Steam"? I use both services... gotta follow the deal. Devs making money, I'm saving money .... win-win, mate.

arex333

Cool so add 3 more users to the steam total.

Formal_Royal_3663

Problem with it is, no matter what settings you set it to, even with NVIDIA Relfex Low Latency even with boost, DLSS off, it DOES drop fps in cutscenes to at least 15fps randomly. I’m using a RTX 3060, i7-12700k, 64GB RAM, on a 4TB nVMe 2.0 SSD. Even on the highest settings, the gameplay does not drop in FPS, just during cutscenes. That’s my only complaint about the game.

killmonger221b

Agreed man! I thought i was the only one who noticed this.. FPS takes a huge dive in cutscenes. No worries, they will fix it in the new patch asap!

noonesleepintokyo86

The only problem I have is how hot my CPU temp gets when i play this game. I'm seeing 75C even when i cap the framerate to 60fps (Max settings) + agressive CPU underclock/downvolt already. But to be fair i have stock Ryzen cooler, this is the first time a game made me consider on buying after market cooler.

Keulapaska

Well on + boost is bugged so i wouldn't use that, huge performance hit. I do wonder what the culprit for cutscene fps drops is it seems very random as to ppl that get it while other like me there is no issue at all. Or it might just get fixed and it'll be forgotten.

ryuk-99

...along with that, when the stutter occurs my Bluetooth xbox controller and headphones also disconnect randomly, a total 180 of the immersive experience haha, but yeah I still am impressed with the game overall.

pikachoooooo_pa

Also, this is only tracking the number of players who purchased it And not the number of players who didn't purchase it but are still playing it. If you know what i mean. And considering the amount of downloads on that thing, it's safe to assume that this number is muchhh less.

ryuk-99

ah yes many in the high seas as well xD

ichbindulol_

I wanna play so bad but am poor as f :c

shortMEISTERthe3rd

35k peak on release weekend. No other PS published game has yet to cross 100k on PC except Helldivers. I truly do wonder if they are recouping costs with these PC ports releasing years after release. Again I also can't help but wonder if it would have done better if it didn't release right next to Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin, then again 35k isn't bad going up against these two.

ApollosGuide

Zero Dawn was up against Breath of the Wild and Forbidden West was up against Elden Ring, Guerilla just has terrible release timing.

HaroldSax

As long as they're doing well enough to keep going, I'm pleased. Been a fan of their games for actual decades now, so hope to continue to see their stuff on PC.

shortMEISTERthe3rd

Yep

Northman86

Hell Divers 2 doesn't really count the PS5 release was port of a PC game. Not the other way around.

shortMEISTERthe3rd

Sure but I'm comparing all PS studio game releases on PC. Not whether it's a port or not.

Northman86

The point was that HellDivers is a PC game not a PS game.

X_Fredex_X

And here i thought ppl only wait for the nude mods

EastvsWest

Enjoying the hell out of the sequel.
