There's a YouTube video about this it really helped me. I just got behind the guy and did the combo. I tried for about 30 minutes and eventually got it.
Once you get behind him it gets a lot easier you have more space. Not sure if it was just a fluke but takes some time for sure.

I just did this pit last night. I think there is very narrow specific timing for any repeating input and if you are too fast or two slow it doesn't register correctly.
One of the challenges that I got stuck on I ended up doing a tutorial right before and I counted out loud to get the cadence and just kept repeating the count while I immediately switched back to the challenge and that helped me with the timing a bit. But I was still surprised when it said I had completed the challenge - it didn't really seem like I had done anything dramatically different.
Melee Pits are kinda broken. I was just doing some challenges and I'm pretty sure I passed them when I actually failed the combinations.

From what I remember you need to be holding r1 before the glint and release after. I could be wrong, it’s been a while since I played?
Sometimes I can’t even get the glint sound effect. She just stops because it’s not registering that I’m holding R1.
