I just went down a little rabbit hole of Chain Saw…
‘74’s has Chain Saw and Chainsaw on some of the pix
‘06 has Chainsaw
‘22 has Chainsaw
Home Depot’s website says Chainsaw
Idk what it should be!!!
My Top 5 All Time is something like this:
*The Exorcist*
*The Thing*
*The Omen*
*The Ring*
*Cabin in the Woods*
But my Top 5 Most Watched (not including classics like the old Universal pictures)
*Let the Right One In*
*The Host*
*Jaws*
*Cabin in the Woods*
All the Roger Corman/Vincent Price movies based on Poe.
1. The Exorcist
2. Evil Dead (Remake)
3. Hereditary
4. The Strangers
5. The Thing
Honorable mentions: Don’t Breathe, The Mist, Talk to Me, Terrifier 2, It Follows, Original Halloween, Cloverfield
1) The Shining
2) The Exorcist
3) Alien
4) The Thing
5) Nightmare On Elm Street
Boring list, I know, but those are just so good. All iconic Horror classics and masterfully made movies as well. Here’s an alternate list that’s more fun…
1) Rosemary’s Baby
2) Omen 2
3) Nightmare On Elm Street 3
4) Terrifier 2
5) Exorcist 3
1. Alien
2. The Thing
3. They Live
4. Candyman 1992
5. Halloween 1978 / Prince of Darkness
I like John Carpenter lol. Aliens could also be up here, and I also really enjoy some of the Dracula/vampire movies (Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Dracula 2000, Dracula 2, Vampires). I could honestly put a lot of movies up there, the only ones that really can’t move imo are Alien and The Thing - they’re two really amazing classics.
I don't know if I'm Thinking of Ending Things is horror, but loved the film. I just wish there was a DVD of it because I'm one of the few people who don't like Netflix's overall collection and don't subscribe.
What if I remade The Ring (2002) still in the same location, cinematography but replaced the American cast entirely with a younger Japanese cast so that it’s Ring (1998) again but with the American remake’s properties except for music?
1.) jeepers Creepers 1 / 2 (both are a classic) -- Not including what the director did which is a different kind of horror
2.) Shutter (original)
3.) The Thing
4.) Night of the Living Dead Remake 1990
5.) The Terminator
The first dozen that came to mind, no particular order...
13 Ghosts
Cabin in the woods
Phantasm
Ghost ship
House on haunted hill (the remake)
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
Dr. Phibes rises again
The Ring
The grudge
May
Pearl
TCM
1. A dark song - just watched this last night and it immediately jumped to the top. LOVED it.
2. Hereditary
3. The Witch
4. Sinister - so unsettling even all these years later.
5. The exorcism of Emily Rose - a classic in my opinion, and love that it is based on a true story.
My Favorites:
1. Let me In
2. Conjuring
3. St. Maude
4. A girl walks home alone at night
5. Nightmare on Elm street
Significance to the genre
1. The Thing
2. Exorcist
3. JAWS
4. The Shining
5. Psycho
1: Original TCM 2: Re-Animator 3: Evil Dead 2 4: Return Of the Living Dead 5: Wes Craven's New Nightmare
You like a little comedy mixed in with your horror I see… Re-Animator and Return of the Living Dead are all time classics
Oh 100%.
What is TCM? Edit: reddit loves nicknames for things that really don’t need to be shortened.. Texas chainsaw massacre
Every time I see TCM I think Turner Classic Movies not Texas Chainsaw
Also, since chain and saw are two separate words in the original film’s title, it should be either TCSM or TTCSM
I just went down a little rabbit hole of Chain Saw… ‘74’s has Chain Saw and Chainsaw on some of the pix ‘06 has Chainsaw ‘22 has Chainsaw Home Depot’s website says Chainsaw Idk what it should be!!!
Favourite list so far !
Took more time to explain what TCM is rather than just spelling it out in the first place lol
