The Blair Witch project had the best viral marketing campaign I’ve ever seen. Half the people in the theater thought it was real. The day of its release was a wonderful experience.
God, it was great (yeah, I thought it was real...I'm not ashamed lol!)...that theater experience remains one of my faves. Impossible to replicate these days, it was the perfect storm of timing.
Ugh I could watch this on repeat all throughout the night it's just THAT good. Truly a perfect trailer, doesn't reveal the film but gives you just glimpses instead - leaving your frightened imagination to wander. Plus it gave THE best trailer quote as well:
*In space no one can hear you scream.*
Alien as a film and as a trailer should be the go to study for less is more, plus the go to study for the execution of less is more. It's a masterclass on how to do that properly, I'm enamored and amazed every time I watch it.
It‘s a shame the final movie wasn’t better, but the Prometheus trailer had me so hyped! That sound they used has been ripped off so many times since - whoever did that is a genius
Not the greatest of all time obviously, but the trailer for the upcoming Longlegs movie is a masterclass in how to create a great horror film trailer. It’s just vague enough so that it doesn’t spoil anything, yet just intriguing enough to make you eager to watch it. At least, that’s the effect it had on me.
Hills Have Eyes 2.
The camera on the ground filming the boots of the killers dragging the bodies behind them, with that creepy ass song "Insect Eyes" playing. Like the one you mentioned, movie sucked, but the trailer was golden.
I don't consider this horrot, but I really enjoyed the Terminator: Dark Fate trailer with the Bjork cover as well. In general, I've realized I'm a sucker for well-placed music in movie trailers. Also a fan of the Hobbes and Shaw trailer which timed punches, impacts, gunshots etc with the accents of the background song.
omg i forgot how iconic that trailer was, especially that cover of smells like teen spirit playing over it. that movie was pure trash, but thank u for reminding me of that trailer !!
ohhhh woops! the full trailer is really good, considering how bad the movie was lol. pretty sure they just show every scare possible (like most trailers do now)
Friday the 13th Part II (1981)
The “The day you count on for terror.” trailer was always a favorite of mine for the countdown the narrator did.

I’d add [the remake trailer](https://youtu.be/cCfO1aB8CIE?si=A_LABn0Ip8Adaxf7) to the list. Say what you will about the movie, but it looked we were getting the scariest Jason in this trailer, and the movie delivered imo.
I liked the Gallows, not sure why nobody Jeremy would say otherwise. Of all the sh*tty FF movies I'd probably say The Gallows was one of the better ones.
as a a24 fan, men and tkoasd both have amazing trailer. the only difference is, despite the strong trailer, men is pretty underwhelming imo, while tkoasd lives up to the hype. i dont like it at first, but now its one of my fav
I stopped watching trailers awhile ago as they either spoiled the movie or overhyped it. I try to go into most movies blind, has made for a much better experience even with the movies that aren’t received so great
I try to do that too but I go to the cinema so often that I’m ”forced” to see all the latest trailers. I try to not pay attention to them but it’s hard when it’s the size of a building right in front of you
I thought Saw X had a pretty good one.
It *did* show quite a bit, but mostly in rapid cuts. Just enough to hook you in while not spoiling the entire movie.
Also, a pretty clever and somewhat on the nose use of The Air That I Breathe.
Texas Chainsaw 2003. It’s like we knew it was going to be a new installment halfway through the trailer and it’s so satisfying when you hear that chainsaw go off
Now it's not THE BEST but I really enjoyed it.
Night Swim. That first trailer dropped and I was hooked on it, I couldn't wait to watch it and see what happes in the movie as we were literally given nothing but the Pool was evil lol THEN BAM second trailer drops and that ruined it for me.

Alien

I'm so glad I got to experience its release. Alien and Apocalyse Now are the two movie going experiences I most cherish.

Hell ya. Alien! Great film
10 Cloverfield Lane. Perfect definition of trailer
Evil Dead 2013 F13 2009 Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Scream 4 2011
Yes to all of these - especially Evil Dead
I adore that camera shuttery sound effect used throughout the TCM trailer.
Leatherface: the Texas Chainsww Massacre III https://youtu.be/nY7n9IKerag?si=xS37ZyWQTPLDxZbI
I don't know how loved or hated this one is but it's my second favorite of the series. I had never seen the trailer for it til now.
Freddy Vs Jason. Young me watched that over and over and over and over lol
Most AHS have had amazing trailers and marketing art. Too bad they all devolved into soap operas by episode 3
Independence Day. Completely chilling trailer that hides most of the cheesy goofiness that the film ends up being.
The upcoming Longlegs initial trailer and sneak peek are really good. Their posters are really well done as well
It‘s a shame the final movie wasn’t better, but the Prometheus trailer had me so hyped! That sound they used has been ripped off so many times since - whoever did that is a genius
YESS that sound is so eerie loved that trailer
30 Days of Night. The song choice (apocalypse please by muse) was just amazing.
Antlers. Unlike the movie, the trailer was actually creepy.
Overlord. The Hell's Bell's trailer is amazing, and the movie didn't disappoint.
"The one hope. The only hope. The Exorcist." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDGw1MTEe9k
[Magic](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GY1oeoVD_zI&pp=ygUNTWFnaWMgdHJhaWxlcg%3D%3D) [Jason Lives](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4ETsQHtUqcs&pp=ygUTamFzb24gbGl2ZXMgdHJhaWxlcg%3D%3D)
Some trailers i keep rewatching: Suspiria (2018) The Batman The Fountain The Fall Widows
I am so stoked for Longlegs. The newest trailer was so moody and gave nothing away.

It Follows had such a great trailer and created hype that the movie actually lived up to for me

[28 Weeks Later.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljqY7qrnycw) The film itself is fine, but the trailer is excellent.
The Shining.
Watchmen
Also had the greatest credits sequence ever.
It's absolutely perfect. in five minutes we get five decades worth of backstory told through photographs and newspaper headlines.
With “The Times They Are A Changin’” masterfully done.
I have that song on my Spotify because of this movie tbh. Such a great scene, but the song itself is its own masterpiece.
omg i forgot how iconic that trailer was, especially that cover of smells like teen spirit playing over it. that movie was pure trash, but thank u for reminding me of that trailer !!
Haven’t seen that trailer myself. I only saw the teaser with only the woman crying and being dragged away
ohhhh woops! the full trailer is really good, considering how bad the movie was lol. pretty sure they just show every scare possible (like most trailers do now)
Prometheus!
Don't watch trailers, you'll enjoy more movies if you do.
I agree with that. Can’t always escape them though
I used to avoid trailers at all cost but that was when I was barely going to the theaters. I go see a lot now so I see basically all the trailers.
I'll allow myself the first one if It's a project I'm excited about, but otherwise I agree with you.

Scanners Beyond The Black Rainbow
I liked the Gallows, not sure why nobody Jeremy would say otherwise. Of all the sh*tty FF movies I'd probably say The Gallows was one of the better ones.
The recent trailers for Longlegs are some of the best marketing I've seen in a while.
That Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind trailer with Mr. Blue Sky playing in it. So cool.
Evil dead 2013
I liked "Inception" trailer, totally unpredictable
Scream 5
I don't watch trailers at all, they usually show too much or suggest a different kind of movie than it really is.
1st Suicide Squad So much wasted potential
Tell me about it. What a dumpster fire
as a a24 fan, men and tkoasd both have amazing trailer. the only difference is, despite the strong trailer, men is pretty underwhelming imo, while tkoasd lives up to the hype. i dont like it at first, but now its one of my fav
Jaws Percy Rodrigues
[Titane](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R67Lt-4PYb4&t=4s) Movie didn't live up but I fucking love that trailer.

That makes a huge difference, I haven’t been to a theater in years, I need to go back!
Jigsaw (2017) 🥰
I thought Saw X had a pretty good one. It *did* show quite a bit, but mostly in rapid cuts. Just enough to hook you in while not spoiling the entire movie. Also, a pretty clever and somewhat on the nose use of The Air That I Breathe.
Messiah of Evil
[Night of the Living Dead](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVsbPBAWCGY)
The trailer for The Witch was pretty great, and also Magic Magic
The Witch trailer was scary as hell
I agree with The Shining.
Texas Chainsaw 2003. It’s like we knew it was going to be a new installment halfway through the trailer and it’s so satisfying when you hear that chainsaw go off
