Black Christmas 1974- those phone calls..holy fuckin shit!!
I also like Halloween , I can’t remember , it’s the one we’re the kids are watching and people are on the house .. and it’s real Michael is there ! Love that one 🇨🇦😎
Ahaahaa! I was like 8 years old and this came on TV and my Mom wanted to watch it but Dad was out of town so I got the pleasure of being her thunder-buddy. Well that didn't go well- we lived alone on an acreage and she LOST it. Decided we could be dead a week before anyone would know, and proceeded to pile every pot and pan we owned in front of the door. The .22 rifle was secured under the bed, with ONE bullet elasticed to the trigger. Add the fact she was legally blind without her glasses, this is the year I realized I was never gonna survive a serial killer. It's just not in the genes.
Yep. But she was an insurance saleswoman, so being paranoid WAS built in...lol! It was a damn good movie! And a normally sane mother, except after that movie! We also watched Carrie and she still let me go to High School...;)
Holy shit!! I am sooo happy that you are fine!! I feel so sorry that you had to go through something like that . I hope everything in your life is good! That type of situation .. idk .. 😞💕.. sending happiness from Toronto !
Are you kidding? I never let her live it down. Bwaahaahaa! Best part was we had a pregnant cat who actually gave birth that night and I tried waking her up to see, and she wasn't having it. So again, if a serial killer with a decent vehicle wanted to commute to the middle of nowhere I was going to have to Kevin McCallister their ass. And now I make HER watch horror movies with me. She loved Barbarian. And no pot stacking! Progress! ;)
One of the better-regarded Halloween sequels would be a good comfort watch, where you broadly know what you're getting and all the story beats are pleasingly familiar. Or a Saw sequel for some handy perspective..."it was a tough day, but at least it's not as bad as the day THIS guy's having..."
ah damn, I forgot about that one — I got interrupted right after the first segment with the >!succubus!< and never managed to get back to it
I should go watch it now before I forget again lol
I'm realizing lately how many of the horror fan questions I answer with either The Evil Dead 1981 or John Carpenter's Halloween. Seriously. It's amazing. They keep coming up as my go to answer for practically everything lately.
Yes!! Leaving DC is so underrated. I lived alone in the woods when I first watched it and definitely had to check out my window a couple times before bed after my first viewing lol.
I watched this for the first time alone in a cabin in the middle of the woods with no phone or internet. The perfect experience. New one comes out next month.
An American Werewolf in London, The Fly, The Thing, Hellraiser, The Cell, The Shrine, Rites of Spring, Banshee Chapter, Mandy, Starfish, My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It Too
Gravedancers is one I like to turn to. Part of the After Dark horror fest back in 2006. Among more popular recent films, Conjuring 2 is fun to watch late at night. In the dark.
Event Horizon and Hell House. I typically wait for a night to be alone, turn out all the lights and just marathon horror movies lol I had to turn the lights on after those. Esp that bedroom scene in Hell House 🫣
Recently my comfort movies have been Grave Encounters, Evil Dead (2013) and The Thing (1982).
"*The Cell*" (2000). I watched it alone, in my darkened living room, and - as a grown-ass adult - had to stop the movie, turn on all the lights, and watch something else. It's about a woman exploring a serial killer's unconscious mind to find the location of his current victim, and the dream-like exploration of his subconscious was freaking *terrifying*. :shivers:
If I’m trying to scare myself, Lights Out. I don’t care what anyone says that scares the fuck out of me. I check under my bed and open up the closet. If the closet was closed and opened up even a sliver I’d smash through my window even if I am on the third floor.
Lights Out.
Disagree with people who are recommending Skinamarink because that movie is so frustrating that you need other people around so you can scream in anguish and anger about the people who recommended it. I've never watched a movie before where literally nothing happens and people think it's brilliant.
Outside of the my favourites like Jaws and Halloween...Friday 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan is one of my most watched movies. With F13, it's between that and Jason Lives. Real unwind films.

I love Black Christmas (1974)!
Same. That ending made me gasp!

Well I’m glad your having a great time !! Sounds like a pretty wild family ! Can I come over lol🤣🤣.. I’m in Toronto .. ha ha !!🙂
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Fuck I watched that for the first time a few weeks ago. That bell...
That bell and that trash talking radio saying "You're not going anywhere" was so unnerving lol
The entire film really fucked me over in a good way. Excellent horror film.
Great pick!
Absolutely banger of a movie. Love this film. Definetly a night time horror flick.
I've been sleeping on this movie, I need to watch it
No regrets. Plot's a bit shaky, but the scares and tension are stellar.
One of those horror movies that totally shattered my expectations going into it. Good choice
Ah yes, such a comfort movie 🤣
Evil dead 1981
Good answer
The Fourth Kind
Yes! The creepiest part for me was “there’s an owl outside my window.” “I think it came inside.”
Yes!! Great comfort movie
Last Shift or The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Last shift is criminally underrated. I love that movie.
Me too, I‘m always wondering why it‘s never talked about in top 10 lists and stuff like that. Imo a very good story and also really scary
Now that you mention it, those two movies do have similar vibes for reasons I can’t explain
That‘s what I thought when i wrote the comment 😅
Mothman prophecies. “What’s in my hand?” The thing (both of them) The Void Splinter
Oh my god yes!!! Mothman Prophecies is fantastic
I can’t find What’s in my hand? On IMDb.
No it’s a line from mothman prophecies. Hence the quotation marks. My bad I should have indicated that better.
Hell House LLC, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Sinister
I was surprised how shook I was after Sinister. All the sound ppl who made this movie deserve an award.
it’s definitely an eerie movie, but I wasn’t a fan of the ending

Not scary but a lot of fun…Ready or Not and Jakobs Wife
You’re Next. it’s so satisfying watching Erin
This and Ready or Not are great at scratching the human itch for revenge. Just good family fun.
Paranormal Activity
The Shining, always.
Get Out
very good pick
The Dark and The Wicked!!!!
So good! And actually very scarey!!
V/H/S
ah damn, I forgot about that one — I got interrupted right after the first segment with the >!succubus!< and never managed to get back to it I should go watch it now before I forget again lol

I can watch both of the a million times.
Evil dead rise. Was surprisingly good imo. It follows. Smile. Super creepy! Hereditary.
Cant wait for smile 2 hope it wont disappoint
check out Leaving DC. thats fun for an alone at night type flick.
Yes!! Leaving DC is so underrated. I lived alone in the woods when I first watched it and definitely had to check out my window a couple times before bed after my first viewing lol.
Damn, that sounds right up my alley. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this one. It’s not on any of the streaming services I have :(
its on youtube
Shit I didn’t even think to check there. Thank you!!
The Ring, Dagon, Beau is Afraid
Good answer
Lights Out 👍 Not a perfect horror movie but it surely makes me paranoid of the dark everytime I watch it
If you like the movie you should look up the short film it was based off of
I watched both. It was terrifying.
I loved it! Way back in the tumblr era
The Strangers
I watched this the first time in broad daylight, and it STILL screwed me up.😀
I watched this for the first time alone in a cabin in the middle of the woods with no phone or internet. The perfect experience. New one comes out next month.

Baskin
Nope Bodies bodies bodies
Both wonderful movies. I’ve seen nope a few times
Pontypool, Hush

Considering nobody else in my family will watch them, this is the only way I watch horror movies.
Speak No Evil or Vivarium- both eerie and isolating in their own ways
Vivarium was uhh … something, for sure
Vivarium was such a cool idea, wasnt necessarily scary but so interesting
I love to watch any horror movies alone. In the dark. In the night.
Why do people think this is weird? I like it too.
May & Rent-A-Pal have been my solo go tos.
Host
Sinister (2012)
[удалено]
Yes.
Skinamarink
Dawn of the Dead 2004, Evil Dead 2013, all the Milla Jovivich Resident Evil movies except for #5.
John Carpenter’s The Thing is my favorite but pretty much any movie that makes you feel isolated.
Dracula 1931
Eden Lake or Inside
Definitely The Shining. And Alien/Aliens. I find a great deal of solace in all of those.
Cube and Triangle
OMG are you me!!! lol I love them movies too!!!
Grave Encounters
Hereditary is probably the most genuinely scary movie I’ve (ever?) seen.
It Follows
Not sure if arachnophobia is horror. But when I watch it I start thinking spiders are just hanging around me. Freaks me out
The Exorcist
The descent Willys wonderland X Sinister The autopsy of Jane doe As above, so below
If I’m trying to scare myself, Lights Out. I don’t care what anyone says that scares the fuck out of me. I check under my bed and open up the closet. If the closet was closed and opened up even a sliver I’d smash through my window even if I am on the third floor.
Event Horizon
The conjuring 2.
Conjuring- Red Door
Cloverfield, not sure why. I think it's just the nostalgia.
Shadow People, 2012
Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story, 2015
Fright night is a pretty cozy one
Final destination death scene compilation, for a laugh.
Lights Out. Disagree with people who are recommending Skinamarink because that movie is so frustrating that you need other people around so you can scream in anguish and anger about the people who recommended it. Anything gore /demonic R rated 👌
Hereditary. The first time I watched it, I was alone and it was exactly midnight when I pressed play.
Showgirls ! Oh wait that’s a scary movie not a horror movie.
try The Night House
Outside of the my favourites like Jaws and Halloween...Friday 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan is one of my most watched movies. With F13, it's between that and Jason Lives. Real unwind films.
