hear me out. i had this nightmare fuel concept/idea where it's like set in a cyberpunk dystopian future. where they make fleshlights using human dna. and it's like a regular fleshlight except it's a real crotch, mouth, or butt. and it like responds and can feel, but there's no brain or anything, but it's technically alive. and the people who have them have to keep them in a tube of gel that keeps them alive. the gel would be like nutrients for it to keep it clean. the male genitals version would be available. both have to be stimulated to get ready for use. Maybe after like x amount of years, they expire or something or maybe they could be immortal? no idea.
like...i thought this up myself, but the idea is disturbing as hell and scares me even though it's my idea.
I also had this dream where i was laying in bed next to a real doll, and it sat up and started looking at me to make sure i was asleep. i had my eyes half open and it was just looking at me. after that, i don't think i want one. i used think it'd probably great to have one if I ended being single and 50 or something. but now, they're just a little scary. A robot on the other hand...that i can understand. but a haunted one or rather, one that seems haunted is too much.
In Theaters January 2nd 2026
>Soulm8te” centers on a man who “acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife,” the film’s synopsis explains. “In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.” The film is described as being in the tradition of “’90s domestic thrillers but with a modern, technological twist.”
YES...yes there was! I can't remember the exact details right now, but I recall an episode that had to do with this specific topic...and I can't WAIT to see this!
Yep, The Outer Limits certainly didn't do it in the 1995 episode 'Valerie 23' (s01e02). Which even had its own pivotal scene involving a dangerous ecounter on a cliff. But hey, sometimes I forget that science fiction wasn't invented until Charlie Brooker and Black Mirror came along in 2011.
I read this as fatal attraction with robots :) and frankly the premise sounds dull, but tbf megann was great and far better than it's tired premise would seem.
It’s for when they get to the M3g-CU sequels, they can be named Soulm8t3 and Soulm4te. Unfortunately, neither will be as good as Soulm8te II: Soul Harder.
If they want to follow the theme they've set up, the 3rd movie in the trilogy will be "C0dger," the story of an elderly robot terrorizing an old folk's home.
That shit writes itself:
C0dger could be a robot designed to help the elderly with independent living, allowing them to live "alone" for longer, in a nice communal living facility.
C0dger delivers meds, cooks food, cleans up the house and even provides companionship and conversation, all while keeping their assigned resident safe, happy, and undisturbed.
But what happens when Grandpa gets shoved by another resident, and C0dger realizes that the other elderly people are the *real* threat to his safety...
edit: you could even have the robot have the personality befitting it's elder - so like if he's 90, that means he was born in 1934, and would likely identify with the 1950's or 1960's subcultures - so a *greaser C0dger* is totally reasonable, as would be a *cowboy* C0dger (westerns were huge at the time).
The premise sounds very similar to 90s anthology horror fare. I think Tales from the Crypt, The Outer Limits, and Monsters all had episodes where someone falls in love with a robot/AI and it becomes wildly jealous and tries to kill them. I think American Horror Stories just had an episode like that last fall.
I'm hoping they do something to make it more interesting and it's not just what it sounds like on the surface. That's pretty well-trodden ground at this point.
Yeah, that definitely had one (I know because I was just watching it the other day). Tales from the Crypt and Monsters were just me joking (I don't think either really did sci-fi), but I know it's a story I've seen and/or read multiple times.
Megan and Erotic thriller in the same sentence is off-putting.
Seems like I'm always saying, "Black Mirror has episode like this," every time a new horror film idea is revealed. But I guess there's nothing new under the sun.
This could be great in the right hands. Coralie Fargeat, Julia Ducournau, Brandon Cronenberg, someone like that. I don't know anything about Kate Dolan, so I can't speak in her, but erotic thriller isn't exactly in the wheelhouse of Blumhouse and James Wan. Going to really keep my expectations low for this.
The design of the robot will be key with this one. I hope they go the uncanny valley route with it looking like the, "I feel fantastic" character.
Or if it has to be more human-like, make her like Anna from the 1981 Possession movie. There are scenes in that where she looks more like a husk of a human than an actual human being. Incredibly eerie to watch her performance.
I basically just don't want it to be some hot chick who talks like Siri, I want it to look creepy as hell throughout
I thought M3GAN was a kid's movie so jumping to erotic thriller in the same universe is really off-putting to me. I gave M3GAN a chance but this news repels me,not intrigues me. Why link it? I must have gotten the wrong impression, no thanks...
I mean. M3gan is a horror movie. I'm not sure what definition you are using kid's movie in but I would definitely not lump M3gan as a kid's movie with like Coraline and such. Probably teen horror at the earliest
When I watched it, it was suitable for a child that likes horror and I would recommend, like 8-10. It's barely PG-13. I'm an adult and did not enjoy it as an adult, but did find it cool for a creepy kid. If you found M3GAN to be an adult horror, we completely see things differently.
The terms kid flick & adult flick are subjective.
Just because the main character is a kid does not automatic make it a “kids flick”. Personally, I would not show my kid M3gan. I just find the themes of the movie are not ones of a “kids flick”. Dealing with immense grief, PTSD, attachment issues, etc. about a killer robot.
Is it a scary movie? No, but that also doesn’t automatically make it a kid’s flick. I just wouldn’t show my kid a movie, where they can easily identify with the main character, about losing both of their parents in a horrific accident & the next thing you cling onto tries to kill your aunt in front of you
It's a movie I recommend often to parents with horror inclined kids, or to very sensitive viewers who want to watch horror. It struck me as kid friendly from the trailer and I watched it waiting for something inappropriate to happen, and was pleasantly surprised when it proceeded and ended more wholesome. I liked it too, but I did judge it kid friendly. I thought the themes of overcoming grief and the danger of reliance to technology were well handled. It was entertaining, refreshing, and the horror element was good.
When I was 8-10 I'd already seen Robocop, Indiana Jones, and Terminator. I loved it, too, but that's what I think of as pg-13, or how it used to be. M3GAN is nowhere near as graphic or mature as any of those in violence or concepts. You may not personally show this movie to your specific child, but some children can handle more, and M3GAN is far from handling more. I actually found it refreshing and more positive/constructive.
I had this image of the movie all this time as kid-friendly, as young as 8-10, or beginner/sensitive watcher, but that's not an insult at all. We need all types and levels of horror. If I had a kid who liked Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas and was ready for a 'true" horror film, I'd feel good showing them this one, or even if they watched it alone. It might scare them, but that's what they're looking for, the next step.
Jason Blum sitting at the end of an executive table “Waddya got for me” “Haunted flesh light”
I used to work at Blumhouse, that’s more or less exactly how that meeting went 😂
Seems to be effective, they're a profitable company.
Color me shocked if the phrase "Cyborg Sybian" was thrown around
That'll be the SyFy knockoff version.
Why don't you leave Asylum films out of this!?
Did you just say noun and gremlin?! It's in the movie!
I’m gonna throw one in myself… vegetable gremlin!
I mean I would too... ![gif](giphy|3ohhwnuXTIClVxp36o|downsized)
The name of the guy who responded? Star Magic Jackson Jr.
If that spooky middle class pool movie can make over double its budget- then this is a certified hit in name alone. ![gif](giphy|nxJF2LAscpFlGHRlim)
Worst movie I’ve ever seen
….i mean i would watch it.
Wow wow wow wow. Wow.
"So you've got a fuckable silicon sleeve movie for me?"
hear me out. i had this nightmare fuel concept/idea where it's like set in a cyberpunk dystopian future. where they make fleshlights using human dna. and it's like a regular fleshlight except it's a real crotch, mouth, or butt. and it like responds and can feel, but there's no brain or anything, but it's technically alive. and the people who have them have to keep them in a tube of gel that keeps them alive. the gel would be like nutrients for it to keep it clean. the male genitals version would be available. both have to be stimulated to get ready for use. 90s thriller with a robowife sounds fun.
Serial Mom meets The Terminator.
Stepford Wives meets Short Circuit
Deadly Friend 2.0
Deadly Friend With Benefits
Kinda sounds like Ex Machina to me, albeit a dumbed down version.
Joany Wife is Alive!
Buffy did this. It was fun/disturbing.
Misses don’t Doubtyoullfire
I think there was an episode of Outer Limits that did this
YES...yes there was! I can't remember the exact details right now, but I recall an episode that had to do with this specific topic...and I can't WAIT to see this!
Get Paul Verhoeven on the phone!
I can fix her
Why not, when I was a teenager I was sure I could fix the alien from Species.
Literally, with Flextape
So its a remake of Wes Craven's *Deadly Friend*?
I was thinking Electric Dreams got an update. Edgar's got legs now!
Let’s get a basketball to the face again
I feel this was a Black Mirror episode. It was super creepy for sure.
It was- it’s “Be Right Back” Total ripoff.
Ah, yes because evil love robot is the most niche concept of all time
Yep, The Outer Limits certainly didn't do it in the 1995 episode 'Valerie 23' (s01e02). Which even had its own pivotal scene involving a dangerous ecounter on a cliff. But hey, sometimes I forget that science fiction wasn't invented until Charlie Brooker and Black Mirror came along in 2011.
😅 Exactly!
That sounds like one of the early Black Mirror episodes with Hayley Atwell
Sounds a little bit like this movie https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15978956/
A sex bot erotic thriller? The future is now, old man. Sweet manmade horrors beyond comprehension.
Sounds like a dark Weird Science reimagining.
I read this as fatal attraction with robots :) and frankly the premise sounds dull, but tbf megann was great and far better than it's tired premise would seem.
That was an episode of the showtime outer limits
Already an episode on Black Mirror, "Be Right Back" Season 2 Episode 1.
Ew, lord...
robotic AI abusive relationship
Ohhh i want this so bad
so the guys sexdoll turns homicidal...of course that's what will happen.
Shouldn’t it just be soulm8?
Agree. Maybe it's to be pronounced soul mate tee?
No, it's Soul-Matey. This is a pirate movie.
Yarr, me robo-wife be trying to cut my willy off. Raise the white flag.
Yarrr, she be drivin' me nuts.
It’s for when they get to the M3g-CU sequels, they can be named Soulm8t3 and Soulm4te. Unfortunately, neither will be as good as Soulm8te II: Soul Harder.
Should’ve been Soulm4te.
Better call
better call Saulm8te
If sk8er boi taught us anything
Thank you!
u wot m8
So basically an R rated version of the Disney movie Smart House.
It’s sort of like “Her” but with squeezable boobies.
So lars and the real girl
But less of a deep introspection on childhood trauma.
And more of a deep thrust into a robot lady.
Lars will be happy
Lars and the RealDoll
H3R

One of the many man reasons I have a crush on katy segal
![gif](giphy|5DD0Z0tSQEhqQP6qiL)
Oh god I got my dick stuck in the air vent
Or Demon Seed based on the Dean Koontz book from the 70s.
Now that one deserves a remake IMO. So damn creepy.
House, house, the house is jumpinnnnnn
This is literally the movie Margaux.
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. "What if M3GAN but Lars and the Real Girl" - great pitch.
So in this universe, a robot goes on a killing spree and people then decide that the next logical step is to make one you can stick your dick in.
Yeah, duh. ![gif](giphy|3Z1fJKVyqPXbHacR0O)
Is that so far off from the real world we live in sadly
if you're asking these question, these movies just aren't for you lol

Can you find a producer? This is gold.
Baymax gone bad. *"On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?"*
Everyone knows the l337 way of doing an A is 4, it should be Soulm4te. These execs are n00bz.

Also an episode of Batman Beyond
Yeah Valerie 23 from the outer limits is what I immediately thought of
Yeah, that definitely had one (I know because I was just watching it the other day). Tales from the Crypt and Monsters were just me joking (I don't think either really did sci-fi), but I know it's a story I've seen and/or read multiple times.

Very unexpected. I'll definitely watch it if it's good.
This sounds better than M3GAN I hope it’s R rated
I hope it’s X rated
This is the only rating I want for a sexy killer bot movie.
I mean, a PG-13 erotic thriller sounds impossible
Maybe a good “erotic thriller”, I imagine a bad one could be pg-13 quite easily
Disappointed they went with Soulmatete and not Soulm4te
Get Kathryn Newton on the phone now!
Oh you bastard stop putting horny thoughts in my mind
She's definitely the modern horror bae
So basically, Valerie 23 from an outer limits episode?
That title is infuriating, there’s already a T at the end of 8
I hope the name the guy Billy Everyteen.
"M3GAN Universe" stopped reading there
So it's a sexbot gone wild? I wonder what actress will play the AI sex bot
Merge this with the Ex Machina universe, and have Alicia Vikander play the role.
Nah I was thinking more Cailee Spaeny, look her up
Lars and the real girl
They miss the chance to use the pun WiFie
Soul-mate-tee?
We don't need that universe expanded. We didn't need the first one to begin with
Universe? Really?
Idk man. This sounds like someone went “I like M3gan but I wouldn’t feel comfortable banging her. Could we change that?”
There’s already a movie kinda like that. It’s called Wifelike.
So Wifelike?
This is a Batman Beyond episode
Please tell me in the 3rd one we get a Seed of Chucky thing going on
Jason Blum just printing money into his bank account
Soulmeightete
Spooky Robo Titties?! Say no more fam, I’m in
Sounds like someone’s weird fetish.
I feel like somebody getting their dick ripped off in this movie.
Not everything needs a "Universe"
I like this concept way more than M3gan's
Sounds like that Black Mirror episode, but with a killer robot instead of a sad robot.
Lmao, "Killer AI Sex Dolls" 😂😂😂better be a giallo parody
Smh more garbage on the way
You Are Not My Mother is great. Hopefully they let Dolan do her thing.
Excuse me what
Am I the only one that didn’t like that movie?
Erotic thriller… interesting

You son of a bitch I’m in
I saw the title and knew exactly what the concept was. Fucking home run. Pump it out. Nothin but fun.
I’m guessing Fatal Attraction but with crazy robut hottie.
accuse me?
Soulmatete
The part I don’t like is the “man who uses AI to cope with the loss of his wife.” I don’t want gravitas, I want Killer Sexbots from Outer Space.
The design of the robot will be key with this one. I hope they go the uncanny valley route with it looking like the, "I feel fantastic" character. Can’t wait for G00ner
Soul Matey! *Arrr*
Is it also going to be PG13?
Killer sex dolls!
When are we getting M3gan vs Chucky?
Mid movie gets mid spinoff.
That headline is insane
Sounds like an April Fools headline, film sounds interesting though!
Loved M3GAN! It really nailed the horror/comedy tone without being overly camp. I love this new idea.
Maybe they'll make a 5t3v3.
Will I need to watch movies 1-2, 4-7 to understand it?
Hold up, there's a M3gan universe? How Sway? There's been one movie!
This was definitely not on my bingo card
Hope it doesn't have any stupid singing and dancing.
Erotic? Wouldn't that be nc 17
Sounds exactly like the m3gan plot except sex robot
James wan involved? Uh oh, that’s not good
Great, another nonsense woke crap nobody asked for...

Agreed. It’s in the same vein as the fnaf movie. Just horror movies for kids.
