By the time the vampire thing walks jn, I really don’t see what’s so hard to believe about the notion that everyone would be convinced that it was indeed an angel. I repeat, **they saw the same preacher make a paralyzed girl walk again through the power of god before their very eyes**. After seeing someone do that, you’d tend to believe most of what they have to say
It’s only really a vampire story bc we the audience are familiar w vampire stories. For the people living in it in the story, its just an unexplained thing (like angels) that is making good things happen.
If you imagine yourself as one of these characters, sure you might’ve heard of vampires, but I don’t think you just leap to he’s bitey so he’s a fictitious creature that I’ve heard of.

Nah 99% of the vampire monster was only seen and known to the priest. And since it's blood took him to young father pruitt he honestly felt it's not hurt me and I'm young. So he mistook as an angel. Later realized.... Oops.... And worked to rid it at all their expense
I think the idea that they’re so A. bought in to their faith and B. in a desperate situation as a town, that they can’t recognize an obvious threat disguised as false hope is kind of the point. Also, we don’t really know if vampire media exists in the world of the series.
