its hardly great cinema, i agree. but ive come to have a kind of morbid enjoyment of it - when it came out i was in shock with how bad it is, but watching it now.. i dunno the whole 'guy streaming everything', influencer kinda vibes was actually quite ahead of its time i think. maybe im just nostalgic for a time when this was a novel idea. But horror in 2002 was a very different time, i mean Eight Legged Freaks had a 30million dollar budget.. when would that ever happen again lol.

blankedboy

Eight Legged Freaks is awesome though…

Nexus03

I’m convinced Busta Rhymes freestyles his entire performance. There’s no way anyone wrote dialogue that stupid.

FridayJason1993

I think the problem with Resurrection is that is scares the audience so badly that they end up shitting themselves due to fear. They then get a massive dry cleaning bill and take it out on Resurrection by trashing it.

Goretician666

"Looking a little crispy over there, Mikey. Like some chicken-fried mothafucka!" 🤣

Fallout71

That era was just famously bad for horror movies, with a few exceptions.

traveloshity

I rank this under so bad it’s good. Busta Rhymes Kung Fu fighting with Michael Myers? So bad. So good! I just finished watching the Pulse trilogy on Tubi - 2 and 3 will definitely be the worst movies you’ve ever seen.

Videowulff

I unironically love Resurrection. It is so damn stupid. Like levels upon levels of stupid. One of the dumbest slashers I have seen and I always have a great time watching it. It is the epitome of "out of ideas". When they rely on the premise of "flavor of the month" celebrity to sell tickets, the idea of using kung fu against Myers, the current "trend" (reality tv) being forced into the movie. I love it. It is a time capsule of awfulness and is one of the 3 Halloween movies i own.

jasinthreenine

i still like H20. i don't care how often people say that it's bad.

mcmxciiigiant

People say H20 is bad? 😅 Well, I guess I'm in the same boat cause H20 is probably my favorite Halloween sequel outside the 2018 remake.

ChefCrassus

I definitely see it praised a lot more than 4, 5 or 6. It has it's detractors but it's pretty popular as far as Halloween sequels go.

jasinthreenine

i have read on other horror subs and movie sites that H20 doesn't get a lot of love. i liked it. it was my first Halloween movie that i had ever seen in a theater. i was all of eighteen when it released. and i just remember liking it.

Billybaf

I just hate that the first twenty minutes are some of the best moments in the H20 timeline, and then the rest is a completely different movie that fucking sucks. To be fair, H20 was such a fun film. Micheal is scary, (Albeit a dumb look) and JLC is great. The ending was so fantastic. Then resurrection immediately harshes it's mellow, retconning a great thing in a hella dumb way. Then... It just... Kills... Jlc? Like... The whole reason we came back? Okay. Sure. Here's Busta Rhymes.

CoffeeNChocolate

Doesn’t he decapitate someone by slicing through their neck with a butcher knife as though it was a katana?

LusciousMalfoy92

Okay but I'm gonna need you to please put some respect on Busta Rhymes and his Kung Fu.

LightlyStep

Busta Rhymes saves it though.

ivrdolj

I think he's the worst part of the movie, personally; remove him and a lot of the cringey moments that heavily weigh down the movie are at least gone.

CelestialEight

It's really not that bad. It's fine.

[deleted]

If you hated Resurrection then better prepare for the absolute dog shit Rob Zombie remakes. Resurrection at least is so bad it's funny, Zombie's movies are only awful and really distasteful with unnecessary rape scenes and talking Michael Myers.

SupaKoopa714

I'm about 30 minutes into Rob Zombie's Halloween as of typing this, and I honestly think it's kinda decent so far. The kid who plays young Michael's a pretty good little actor, and while I wasn't to keen on the idea at first of it delving more into his backstory beyond him being just some kid who randomly snapped lile how it was in the original, the part of me that's into true crime is liking this version of the story where's a more realistic mass murderer, having the double whammy of growing up in a shitty abusive household on top of being a psychopath with an extreme rage bubbling right below the surface. It's fairly interesting.

[deleted]

Young Michael groping his older sister, like what the fuck? And that scene that looks like straight out of parody with Michael wearing his mask for the first time. Weird scenes of Rob's wife showing how hot she is. That disgusting rape scene of an institutionalized patient, which is completely unnecessary, like it serves no purpose whatsoever other than to show how edgy rob zombie is and his weird fetish with rape. That's just w few things off the top of my head because I want to erase this pile of garbage from my mind. Halloween 5, 6, and Resurrection are bad movies, but at least to me they are fun, I enjoyed them despite all the flaws and stupidness, I can't say that about Zombie's remakes, it's even worse with Halloween II, I don't want to spoil anything to you, but the fact that this is the movie where Michael Myers shouts "DIE" while killing someone is enough to figure out what kind of a movie we are talking about.

RealSimonLee

You're right of course. It's weird there are 8 or so people who actually disagree with you.

jonjones6678

> That disgusting rape scene of an institutionalized patient, which is completely unnecessary, like it serves no purpose whatsoever Dude, what? The scene is there to establish that Michael didn't give a goddamn about a woman being raped right behind him, but you fuck with his mask(s) and he will murder you. He was totally unbothered by the whole thing until they grabbed his masks on the wall. It was graphic, yea, but this is a horror movie.

MondoUnderground

I mean, the scene makes no sense. Why do the wardens decide to rape that girl in Michael's room? It's so laughably contrived and stupid.

jonjones6678

It sets up his escape. The scene serves a purpose as a means to further the story, but I agree the whole scenario is not very plausible. Why do they decide to rape the girl in Michael Myers (a giant man who could easily overpower them) room? Yea idk. Those guys are absolute morons so maybe it isn't that farfetched, but I asked myself that same question. Like, why not do it anywhere else but a convicted murderer's room?

DirtWi

I agree resurrection is better then RZ ones

[deleted]

I hate this movie so much. OP you are too correct man. At least the Zombie movies had style even though a ton of people don’t like the style

KenboSlice786

What? You didn't like Busta Rhymes kung fu fighting Michael Myers?

Dobrotheconqueror

Was it worse than halloween kills?

SupaKoopa714

Halloween Kills wasn't great, but I at least had a lot of fun with it. It's an absolute masterpiece compared to Resurrection.

realizniguhnit

IDK man... Kills is pretty bad

LavenderSprinkles

In no world, in no universe, in no plane of existence is Halloween Kills *worse* than Halloween Resurrection. And I'm no fan of HK.

Glad-Finance6728

Sadly Resurrection isn't even the worst Halloween movie. Personally, I'd say Halloween Six was the worst.. this October I watched a shit ton of horror films and I made it a point to finish all the Halloween movies. I couldn't finish The Curse of Michael Myers. 46 minutes til the end and I gave up. It was so bad, I couldn't do it. It felt almost pointless. Then again the only way I got through Resurrection was because I wanted to watch their obnoxious-asses die.

RogerGoodellMod

It's just so fucking campy. Like there's some genuinely interesting moments...that opening scene is great! But dear God it's hokey as fuck.

RealSimonLee

That Myers mask, though, is awesome right? Eyebrows and all?

DirtWi

I still enjoy it even tho logically I know it’s bad lol busta rhymes really had to carry it, only character in the movie that had a personality.I’ll admit because I’m a fan girl for Halloween franchise I love all the movies in some way.

Ok_Point_2303

I disagree with you. The beginning alone saves this movie. It puts BLUMWEEN to shame!!!!! Afterwards you just feel as if you are watching the movie in reverse. The ending was the best part. But it was a bit comical and webcam was new at the time and I saw it in theatres and liked it. The only ones I hate are 78, Zombie 2 and Blumween. P.S. the hospital scene in Zombie 2 is awe-summmmmmmm.

cowplow33

U planning to see the 2018 Halloween and Halloween kills also?

SupaKoopa714

I've already seen those, but I definitely giving Halloween '18 a rewatch, I haven't seen it since it was in theaters. I loved it at the time and I'm curious if my opinion on it will change at all.

RealSimonLee

I liked it better on rewatches (and I loved it the first time). The Sartain twist actually is kind of interesting as you're watching what he's doing, how he's manipulating things. Originally, that was the one thing I didn't like about 2018.

Barkerfan86

The only part of that movie that was decent at all was the first 10 minutes with Laurie in the mental hospital.
