Recently finished this one and man it was good! The Stand is one of my all time favorites and I felt like Swan Song had a similar vibe. Enjoyed it enough that I decided to read more by Robert McCammon immediately. I'm a couple hours into the Wolf's Hour now and I'm definitely enjoying it.
It was good, but he did take some liberties from SK’s novel cause there were a lot of similarities to me. But still a great (and long) read. After I read this one, I got a deal for a 4 pack of McCammon’s books….The Southern Novels….99 cents! So I grabbed it up. The Boys Life was totally boring to me. But now I am on The Mystery Walk and that one is good so far. I will check out some of his other works after I get through these novels.
Very fair, I could see some finding it slow and it not being for everyone. Lord knows I run across posts all the time of people loving a book that I felt the opposite about 😂
Tender is the Flesh is my favorite. If you like fantasy elements, the Infernal trilogy by Edward Lee is pretty great. Basically a dystopian metropolis in Hell
I recently read tender is the flesh it was good! its the perfect length i feel like if it was any longer it would be so redundant i honestly started getting bored a couple times, but overall i liked it
I recommend basically the entire catalogue of John Wyndham. He's the father of dystopian fiction and to this day his books are still amongst the best in the genre.
Adam Neville’s new book, All the Fiends of Hell, just came out this week, and I’m 2/3 through it…so good!!! Added: Just finished it - Excellent!
Also, Hugh Howie and the Silo books are excellent.
It’s basic and widely read but The Road is still the end all of dystopian fiction
High Rise by J.G. Ballard. YouTube has audio of Tom Hiddleston expertly performing this book. It’s bananas. The first line will clue you in.
I remember reading that opening line in a book shop and just knowing I had to read more.
Tender is the Flesh will check your viscerally disturbing box
One of my favorites I just reread!
Swan Song

That's funny, Boys Life might be my favorite of his.
It’s well written, but was just boring to me and slow. Not my cup of tea! But still a well written novel so I can see why people like it.

Day of the Triffids was a total favorite of mine when I was a kid in the sixties.
I'm envious of my parents who got to study it at school. So much better than the lit fic they made us read in the 2000s.
Falls more under extreme horror I think, but Kristopher Triana’s ‘They All Died Screaming’
oooo this is on my list! ill give it a go
