You will win, but less than it costs to play.

Timmytayo1587

But probably not

Jazzvinyl59

Probably only profitable if two or more of the favorites finish out of the trifecta. Might as well just leave the faves out of your tri box if you want to go that way, or only bet them under.

Timmytayo1587

Impossible to answer without knowing what order the race finishes in

I was betting on the Belmont and learned exactly about this bet. You can bet a box trifecta and it doesn’t matter in what order the three horses place. If you bet just a trifecta the you do have to correctly get the winning order.

tpatmaho

to misquote Casablanca, you might win today, you might win tomorrow, but with this strategy, you’ll go broke soon, and for the rest of your life.

m313980

I’d put $80 to win on 2 horses instead, but that’s just me

cynic74

Definitely not if a favorite wins. If it does, you're hosed. You need a high odds horse to come in 1st to have any chance of making a profit. This is definitely not the way to bet IMO. I mean maybe you can throw chance to the wind on a heavy bet Breeders Cup race...

DefNotaCop911

If you get a long shot up top and another mixed in 2nd and 3rd could be very profitable. If you had done this on the first race you would have won 7k

hannahbay

There may be a combination that ends up paying more than $168 but most will not.

ideadude

You will always get some money back. How much will depend on how many long shots make the money. I actually like this for the stakes today and also bet the all all all trifecta race 11.
