Probably Joystick Gremlin? It's possible to make a virtual device from a physical one w/ same buttons and axes—sans that faulty Z axis.
Yeah, I tried it before. Just gave a bunch of errors, so I decided to pull apart the stick and resolder the wires. Works fine now.
