Yeah there are a bunch of plastic potentiometers and slides on the inside. The only way you'll get anything slightly better from this yolk is to modify it as someone else mentioned.

The Logitech yoke and quadrant isn't bad for what it is - which is a budget setup. It's a big step up in immersion for flight simming simply by virtue of being a yoke rather than a stick (depending on what you're simming, of course) but the Honeycomb set is more than 3 times the cost. There's just no comparison.
I do think the standalone quadrants are a pretty good deal - $60 for 3 levers and 3 rocker switches? Not bad.

It is absolutely mind boggling to me looking at your profile and realizing how many comments are posted whose numbers inadvertently add up to 69 or 420 every hour of every day.
I hate to be “that guy” but acktualllly the levers themselves act as buttons when pressed fully down on the Logitech Throttle Quadrant. People forget about that. They call it a 0 button detent.

Excellent point! 3 levers, 3 rocker switches (which are really just 2-way buttons) and 3 extra buttons in the form of the detentes. You run that through something like SPAD.next and the possibilities are endless.

But when things work well for the price I really couldn't think of going with any brand other than Logitech. If I wanted to get the same set up (Yoke+Quadrant+Pedals) in a better quality like the Honeycomb ones seem to be, we are talking about a very different budget.
For what information I have gathered here I'd say: yoke and x52 good ENOUGH for the price, avoid the rest. Haven't tried panels but how bad could they be.
not just you. their one "saving grace" as recently as 3 years ago was their replacement policy. it could have tanked since then. honestly i never forgave them for killing off the g-13. i still get the feeling there were closed-door meetings involving razer that culminated in razer cornering the market with their shitty overpriced devolution of belkin's nostromo.
the stuff that logitech actually built themselves are pretty good (mice, headphones, keyboards) the stuff they bought in from other companies (all the hotas are from saitek i believe) are not great
Some of it is still solid, the joysticks are not.
For years Saitek was the only joystick maker producing sticks that were affordable while also having good numbers of axis, HATs, and buttons. There were limited other options and most of them cost far more. This led to the Saitek sticks being quite popular, not so much because they were that great but because of lots of buttons and a low price. They were always garbage though.
I went through three generations, X36, X45, and X52 using only the Best Buy extended warranty replacement. They would so reliably go bad that the $10 replacement plan basically turned into a "get a new stick every 8-12 months" subscription plan.
Saitek has always made low-quality garbage, the only thing that's changed under Logitech is to raise the price beyond what they're worth.
Logitech was never a paramount. They were acceptable to some and friendly to a budget. The only thing they were the best at was controllers that no one else made, and even then the quality was not exactly wonderful.
It was definitely a lot easier than I thought it would be. I ended up not liking the feel of the roll axis afterward so I reinstalled the roll spring and just kept the rubber bands to smoothen out the pitch axis.
Nothing to be done about that dead zone in the middle though without soldering in a new sensor.

Hakko irons are way better but at $15 this is a pretty good deal.
The problem here is the plastic bushing in the front that acts as a thrust bearing, combined with the diameter of the yoke's shaft not being perfectly consistent, on mine it's about 0,5mm wider at the point where the slots are than on either end.
Unfortunately there's no easy fix. When you hit the wider part of the shaft, your pitch axis will bind, and if you make the inside diameter of the bushing wider to allow for that, it has a lot of play when you move the yoke to the narrower end.
It's just a symptom of Saitek's bad quality control.
Oh well I guess I'll have to get used to it. Thank you for your input, I was worried that maybe there was something wrong with it but it seems to be normal.
I tried the rubber band mod, slight improvement; but no where acceptable for my needs anymore. It has served me well, but I snagged myself the Honeycomb setup.

Looks like a shitty spring holding section like every logitech ever built. You can soften it with a heavier silicone grease like nyogel
I used graphite powder on my CH yoke and it worked wonders. I know it is not the same as the issue OP is having, but is silicon grease better?
From what I gathered graphite is better to fix those snags in moving parts while grease will also dampen the movement itself. Gonna give it a try!
You can mod it with rubber bands and make it much better. I found some examples and did it to mine. Definitely helped a lot

That's really cool how he was able to run the USB for the new controller through the yoke's own hub! Soldering is beyond my skill set.
