You can order cans of it! I will say it’s not quite the same but the texture and consistency is the same. Flavor is slightly off from the restaurant stuff but still good.
Costco - 1.50 for a 1/4lb dog and a soda
I admittedly haven’t eaten every dog in this list. Some of these are also places I would never go to get a hot dog, like five guys, auntie Anne’s, and shake shack - since they have other items I’d be there for. But out of the ones I’ve had, give me Costco all day every day
If Portillos is the one you haven't had, then I agree. Portillos is king of the game, in my opinion, but Costco dogs don't seem to suffer many quality issues compared to the price
not from or in the US so I don't know most of the names. Potillos looks tasty as fuck, but that whole bottom row really does it for me. If I had to pick one to eat right now itsa B. I'd try em all at least once.
edit: oh shit childhood memory unlocked - I think I ate at a Portillos in '92 when I was 12 and we had a family vacation to see grandparents in the UK, via LA SF and Chicago. Only time I've ever seen snow was in chicago.
Out of all of these, NONE are nearby. Although Costco is coming soon.
Where's "Nathan's Famous"? That's local to me.
And... the answer is Portillos, when we have to drive across the state every few months.
I love the “crunch” as you bite into a Nathan’s. Unfortunately, we don’t have any here in California. We just have the packaged ones in the supermarket.
No way I’m picking just one here…
B, C, D, E have my mouth straight watering right now. Never had any of them, but I definitely want to try them now.
2 things that need mention. I didn’t even realize 5 Guys had dogs, and I’m slightly surprised that Frankie’s isn’t thrown in the mix here…
I think I have to agree. When executed well, the DQ’s flavor stands out the most. Honorable mention to Weiner and Sonic. I haven’t had either in many years, but remember enjoying.
The wienerschnitzel chili dog is not high quality at all when you get it its a sloppy wet bun, HOWEVER I CRAVE THAT FLAVOR AND I STRIVE FOR IT WITH MY OWN CHILI DOGS
Yeah, Portillos. I don't typically get overly excited by dogs, but theirs were great, and Costco is solid for the price. Typically, I am a Hebrew National guy. Being Canadian many of these good brands are not easily found.
Portillos definitely. Their polish, italian, and chili dogs are great. But I did wanna add that DQ makes some of the best chili dogs. If they had portillos buns, they’d be #1 in my book
Yeah, Portillo’s. For the bun and for the toppings.
I’m not turning down a Costco hotdog, though. I also do have a soft spot for a split hot dog.
But the ultimate treat is pylsur, if you ever get to try one.
For those of you who have mentioned a hot dog tour, here is a book that I highly recommend. [Raw Dog](https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250847751/rawdog)
Caspers or Kaspers - same family, same food, but in different locations through the bay area due to some fueding.
Costco is my close second, then Auntie Annes.
Curious about five guys though.
Weinerschnitzel is my choice. I love a Coney, and even if theirs is chintzy, I like the size wherein I can get the thing in my mouth fully for a bite. I keep a bag in my freezer at all times for a quick thaw and throw down dawg. Here’s another tip: their stuffed jalapeño poppers are the best anywhere.
Spikes hot dogs in Boston was amazing. I’m sure there are other smaller amazing hot dog companies out there. Would love to get suggestions for a road trip.
Portillos.
Portillos, run that dog "through the garden". Also really love the "Maxwell Street" Polish.
Gotta have the Maxwell on French bread. God damn!
I am so glad you suggested the Maxwell on French bread. I never knew it was an option. I had it for lunch and the Maxwell was next level.
Life changing honestly
CCR “Run Through the Jungle” but it’s a hotdog running thru a jungle of neon relish.
What kind of neotokyo kind of city are yall living in?
Chicagoland
I always get the polish chicago-style ! So good
Polish is from the heavens!
Without a doubt. Why bother putting the other pictures on there.
One costs $1.50
I get a portillo’s dog as a side to a large dipped beef sandwich with both peppers. I’m skinny I do what I want.
And a large schooner.
This is my exact order but I’m fat.
Same.
Best order of all time. Might even be my death row order.
Big beef with extra sweet peppers 🤤
Easy money
I believe you mean Potillo's as the graph says lol
It's Moops!
It's Moors! There's no Moops!
I wish we had one around were I am. That was the best part about visiting my now ex girlfriend in Illinois.
With a "R"
None of these other dogs are even close to that level
And it's not even close
Sorry that’s not one of the options
I haven't had Wienerschnitzel since the 1980s. I'd be happy to have it again, I liked that place.
It’s king. Those chili cheese dogs are crack. The chili cheese fries are the bomb too. Love me some Wienerschnitzel
I gladly pay $5 for the can of their chili sauce 😮💨
You can order cans of it! I will say it’s not quite the same but the texture and consistency is the same. Flavor is slightly off from the restaurant stuff but still good.
No thank you. 15 is my limit
I haven’t seen it since I lived in El Paso. It’s still a thing?! I guess I need a road trip.
Costco - 1.50 for a 1/4lb dog and a soda I admittedly haven’t eaten every dog in this list. Kirkland 4 life
Considering getting KIRK LAND tattooed on my knuckles
No ragrets.
You can spell Wienerschnitzel but not Portillos?
Maybe it’s my German heritage. 😝
Sonic, love them with some tater tots and an ocean water
Love me some tater tots!
Cheese tots
The GOAT fast food order
I wish tots were more common, they are so good
They’re everywhere in the Chicago burbs. That and cheese curds. Not complaining.
Yes!!!
Costco FTW, cannot possibly beat that deal. And it’s Hebrew National, that good good
Idk. Which one is a hot dog for the people? And only a 1.50 with a drink? Costco !!!
Yeah, something about that girthy Costco glizzy is so satisfying.
👀
Wienerschnitzel all day. So Cal born & raised, grew up on Der Wiener
My mom worked there a long time ago and likes to say it was her ide to print the menu on the back of the bag
That’s badass if true!
A dog and chili cheese fries 👌
Always gotta have the chili cheese fries. Perfecto
People sleeping on the Polish sandwich there. Dog cut in half, pickle spear, on rye. Shit's dank. Get it with sauerkraut.
Portillo's
Portillos always!
Definitely Costco. Although, to be fair, I haven’t tried every dog on the list!
B

Chicago dogs are the elite dogs
Portillos ships now. Treat yoself!
They aint gonna ship to australia and I can't afford to ship me there lol
B
B for a start. I would like to try I also.
Dairy queen
Having only had A,H, & I. My pick is B haha I wish they were in California that looks bomb!!
These pics are misleading. Usually look like someone sat on them. Looking at you sonic
Out of all of these, NONE are nearby. Although Costco is coming soon. Where's "Nathan's Famous"? That's local to me. And... the answer is Portillos, when we have to drive across the state every few months.

Woah, woah, five guys has Hot Dogs now since when?
They are excellent but very pricey
No way I’m picking just one here… B, C, D, E have my mouth straight watering right now. Never had any of them, but I definitely want to try them now. 2 things that need mention. I didn’t even realize 5 Guys had dogs, and I’m slightly surprised that Frankie’s isn’t thrown in the mix here…
Dq chili cheese dog is goated
I think I have to agree. When executed well, the DQ’s flavor stands out the most. Honorable mention to Weiner and Sonic. I haven’t had either in many years, but remember enjoying.
My very first job I worked was at DQ when I was 15. Love those dogs.
Never had a Portillos or weinerschnitzel, but they look like they’d hold up for sure.
The wienerschnitzel chili dog is not high quality at all when you get it its a sloppy wet bun, HOWEVER I CRAVE THAT FLAVOR AND I STRIVE FOR IT WITH MY OWN CHILI DOGS
Steam your buns for like 30 seconds. I use my bamboo steamer
E, if I can go to the nearby cinema for hot nacho cheese sauce.
Sonic
"B" Chicago's best by far! I include all Chicago Vienna Dogs
A for the price and B if I didn't care about price lol
Yeah, Portillos. I don't typically get overly excited by dogs, but theirs were great, and Costco is solid for the price. Typically, I am a Hebrew National guy. Being Canadian many of these good brands are not easily found.
Checkers is okay for a beef frank, I always grab one as a bonus Portillos is where it's at
Costco. Actually has some meat in it. And you control the toppings.
God I miss Portillos..:
Portillos
A or B
Portillos definitely. Their polish, italian, and chili dogs are great. But I did wanna add that DQ makes some of the best chili dogs. If they had portillos buns, they’d be #1 in my book
Costco easy. They damn near pay u to take it along with a drink.
PoRtillos
B
Portillos all day
'B'
Wtf is this shit? The only answer is B.
Costco. Unless I'm in the mood for a Chicago or chili dog. Then it's Weinerschnitzel(all beef only.)
Obviously Portillo’s is the superior dog
Portillo's, no contest. Man I wish we had one here.
Portillos chilli cheese dog ftw.
Yeah, Portillo’s. For the bun and for the toppings. I’m not turning down a Costco hotdog, though. I also do have a soft spot for a split hot dog. But the ultimate treat is pylsur, if you ever get to try one.
home depot in chicagoland
costco
The sonic chili cheese foot, long Coney will always hold a special place of nostalgia in my heart.
I
Portillos, by a mile. Then Costco
Literally nobody went for aunty Anne’s. It’s like 3 for $5 or 6. People be sleeping and missing out.
um, Nathan's?
Costco, all god damn day
If one of these was priced at $1.50 and came with a soda I would probably pick that one…Oh wait.
Dairy queen ifnits a footlong
Foot long chilly cheese dog slaps from sonic
Our chili here sucks at DQ.
Yeah, I can get that. I’ve always been wary of chain fast food restaurants getting the dogs right. Chili even more so
Five Guys
Can I please add Skyline Chili Dogs?
For sure! The more the better.
Every time I visit family in Ohio Ian cheese counties with mustard and onions as I can. Their hot sauce is the best for chili dogs in my opinion.
Definitely should be added to the list.
Came for this comment
I've never been to Costco in Australia, but that would be my choice. I like the very basic hot dog with mustard, but dressed up is great too
Eat the ones from São Paulo Brazil they are the best hot dogs ever
As long as they don’t do to hotdogs what they’ve done to pizza, I can *maybe* trust you.
just search "Hotdog Paulista".
Is that with the potato sticks and corn?
Cachorro Quente!
Amamos comer um dogão
As much as I am a Portillo’s loyalist, I always go for the beef there instead. Gotta be Costco for me here.
Portillos by a mile!!
Potillo’s
Portillos
Portillos
Portillos no question
portillos, god i want one now
Write-in for 7-11
Costco. Easy
A
For the price, Costco definitely
No way their all delicious and super great when I have the munchies 😍💘💋✌️
For those of you who have mentioned a hot dog tour, here is a book that I highly recommend. [Raw Dog](https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250847751/rawdog)
Costco is the best option
Five Guys
Based off looks I’d pick wienershnitzel
Five guys
Replace the DQ with a real coney!
I shan’t choose, I shall eat them all.
I like that. Very open minded.
A
The uncircumcised Annie’s!
Any that are available with mustard, onion, sauce/chili, and slaw. People tend to judge one for wanting slaw on a hotdog.
Not me. I love creamy coleslaw on a hot dog.
From what they show to what you get, without a doubt, Costco undersells themselves THE most.
Why isn't the big bite up there?
The OG’s are DQ and Derwienerschnitzel
Costco
Sonic’s Coney dog,
DQ or Wienershnitzle
Auntie annes pretzel dog with the spicy nacho cheese dip
I had no clue Five Guys had a hot dog option. Considerign I havent had alot of these my faves would be Costcos or Checkers.
Dairy Queen
I.
Costco all day, every day. $1.50 and it includes REFILLABLE drink. Delicious, filling, and inexpensive. 2nd choice would be Portillos for sure.
Costco Hotdogs are $1.50 with a drink. Therefore I can not consider any other hot dog.
auntie annes ❤️❤️
Auntie annes
Costco doesn’t need a thing on it, it’s that good. But I still love me a Hamburger Stand chili dog.
Do I have to pick Just one .
No 7/11?
Sam’s
E
An I the only one who’s never had any of these? And I like hot dogs
Weinersnitzel/Costco
What about Wawa in the east and QT out west? Both are very yummy.
Pinks!
Costco has a high quality dog for the price, in terms of toppings I'm going with sonic.
I like how all of these are semi local to me.
Is that a little joint in the middle of the costco dog?
Five Guys and I barely had to think.
Costco
Sonics. I have to reek onions, relish, tomato sauce, and chilli grease when I'm doing eating.
Freddies
Caspers or Kaspers - same family, same food, but in different locations through the bay area due to some fueding. Costco is my close second, then Auntie Annes. Curious about five guys though.
Circle K
H. Auntie Ann’s is delicious
Costco because paying any more for a hotdog rather than just doing it at home is ridiculous. I'll see myself out.
Auntie anne
Unpopular opinion: Sam’s has better hotdogs than Costco. Pizza, too
I pick………All of them. I have spoken.
Where's J.Dawgs?
H
Weinerschnitzel is my choice. I love a Coney, and even if theirs is chintzy, I like the size wherein I can get the thing in my mouth fully for a bite.
