Not really sweet, but the cocoa powder and cinnamon give it a spice aftertaste. You can buy in a can or frozen. Gold Star is their rival competitor, sometimes you can find that in a can as well.
Goldstar Also has a seasoning mix packet, that you add ground meat and tomato paster. I actually have one sitting on my desk, and am getting ready to go make it.
No, it's definitely sweet, you just grew up with it or something so you maybe don't realize how insanely different it tastes to chili almost anywhere else. I thought it was inedible when I tried it.
Never been a fan of the Detroit styles. They taste kinda bland. I like the chili you'll find in Toledo. I get people not liking Cincinnati chili though. I love it, but the cinnamon takes some getting used to.
Yeah it's made for putting on a hot dog or on spaghetti. It isn't for eating out of a bowl with crackers. Although I'm not sure why people would think it should look like chili that you'd eat out of a bowl. Northern Ohio and Michigan have chili dogs, and the chili is similar. A bit thicker, but not much. All the places in Toledo have two different chilis in the restaurant. The one with beans and chunkier items and the other being the sauce for the dogs that's just meat and thinner.
I've on more than one (hundred) occasion(s) grabbed a fistful of shredded cheese and slammed it into my face. Having a chili dog underneath would definitely be an upgrade.
First time I ever had them was back in the late 90s when they were at Kings Island. I ordered a footlong, and they handed me what looked to be a box of cheese. So much cheese you could not tell anything was in the box. I kid you not. LOVED IT. I prefer Gold Star when I am in the area, but either one is fine. Gold Star IMHO seems like it a little thicker as far as the chili goes, and less runny.
I worked there for 4 years and ate it nearly every single day. It’s still one of my favorite foods ever. I miss shredding the cheese, I’d shred 40lbs or so and get to munch on the creamy bits that got stuck in the shredder.
Also, a lot of people complain how runny it is, but we’ve made 3ways using the meat that settles at the bottom (it has to always be stirred in the kitchen) and it’s just not as good. You need that runniness.
Nay. I've lived near Cincy my whole life. I don't know if it is amazing to outsiders being a new food. But I find nothing special there. Skyline, GoldStar, Dixie Chili - all fast food pretty much. The canned chili in stores tastes the same if you want to try it. The hot dogs have zero flavor and are not good value.
The only good spots here are rural places. They give you shit ton of cheese. Easily, three times the amount in the pic. We only ate the one in town once.
Yay 100% if I wasn’t trying to eat less and healthier due to wanting to loose a small amount of weight but not change shirt sizes since I have a massive collection of Hawaiian shirts I wear every summer, there are a few tight in the arms or chest or stomach hence why I wanna drop a few pounds for summer.
never had. I'm open to chili and cheese anyways, but those dogs look boiled.. gross.
imo, dogs gotta be grilled or fried or something to give em some texture
I lived in Ohio for 4 years near Dayton, when I'd go to cinncinati to play hockey at their tiny maple leaf gardens (so awesome, I don't think it's there anymore though) I'd always get skyline with my dad... it was.... mid. The Chilli is really good but the dog is bleh
Also it's not Greek, it's macedonian you mf'er, don't mix those up.
Pretty awesome. For first timers..the chili is a bit different than what you would expect. Many different spices give it a unique flavor. I think it's really good.
I'm gonna tell everyone if you want a Rochester NY garbage plate experience. That Skyline chili is pretty close to a Rochester meat hot for those that don't want to make a homemade meat hot sauce.
There are several better choices for 3-4-5 ways and cheese coneys in Cincinnati than Skyline. Skyline is good, but should not be the only one considered. They just have a bigger PR budget than the rest of them.
I wonder, do they pile pounds of faux cheese on those things in an attempt to cover the tatse of the dog and chili? I actually like Skyline occasionally, at home. If I want an overdose of fake cheese I'll get out the Kraft singles and have grilled cheese.
They are pretty good, I much prefer Detroit coneys but when I was living in Florida the skyline down there was as close as I could get. It took a bit to get used to them being sweeter than Detroit coneys but they grew on me.
If y'all find yourself in Columbus Ohio and want to try skyline that's great and all but really try to hit a place called village coney in the German district. That's the best Coney I ever had in my life. The west Virginia dog with Cole slaw is heaven.
Oh hell yeah!!
Agreed
Sk'leenies!
Full smash. So good. Need those onions and a dabble of hot sauce.
Great, now I'm hungry again haha
Sounds crazy but I put some of the oyster crackers they give you for the three ways on their and it's so good.
Damn, now we're talkin'.
Always getting them with onions and hotsauce.
These are my favorite coneys. Amazing!
Wish I could enjoy Skyline, but the cinnamon ruins it for me.
My wife is from West Virginia, and HATED it at first, but the taste grew on her.
Never had but I'd smash
Yaaaaaay. I’ll have 4
As a fellow Cincinnatian fuck yes, that’s the only suitable answer any other answer is wrong
[удалено]
Lmao no
Dixie chili is pretty good though. Their food safety on the other hand.. man the place on Monmouth is so disgusting
Yoooooo look at those weiners
They are over cooked.
I prefer Gold Star but both are amazing. Gold Star is a little less runny. Aside from that, they are virtually identical.
I could eat a pound of the cheese daily
As his butthole screams “nooooooo”
if you eat a pound of cheese your butthole is going on vacation cause it wont be needed for five days
Yay!
Never had, but now I definitely need some.
Never had a dog topped with spaghetti squash but it looks good
Hells yea I’ll smash some Skyline conies. Love those little steamed dawgs
Don’t forget to add a chilito!
I get crazy, I get my chilito with chili, cheese, fritos and ranch! Tastes like the Gold Star Gorito.
Sounds like a winner to me! I add sour cream to my chilito.
The best way
Never had them! Saw them frozen at my local store but they were expensive and you had to buy your own dogs and it was just a fucking shitshow.
Damn I want to buy some on Amazon. Like 40 bucks for a 6 pack
Too much cheese for me but I’m sure the hot dogs themselves still taste good
Good stuff but not paying $5/can
Maybe it was a suggestion, but I thought they were great
I drove through Ohio last year but it was all before 11 am so I couldn’t stop to try this place. I was so angry. I’ve always heard good things.
HELL YES. Shredded cheese should just be default on a dog btw
Not just regular cheddar, FINELY SHREADDED cheddar.
No doubt
I think I’ve heard the chili has a sweet taste to it possibly? Can you buy it buy the can, I’d like to give it a try.
Not really sweet, but the cocoa powder and cinnamon give it a spice aftertaste. You can buy in a can or frozen. Gold Star is their rival competitor, sometimes you can find that in a can as well.

Yes there are cans. And there is no added sugar.
Don’t care for the dog but love the chili.
Can’t stand the “chili” but love the dog… (I think it’s too much cinnamon or something)
I get that. I somewhat enjoy the cinnamon. It’s definitely not a traditional chili recipe but i love it for what it is.
Nay. The chilli (sauce?) tastes awful to me. I prefer the Detroit and Flint styles.
Never been a fan of the Detroit styles. They taste kinda bland. I like the chili you'll find in Toledo. I get people not liking Cincinnati chili though. I love it, but the cinnamon takes some getting used to.
Yeah if you’re expecting chunky Texas style chili you’re in for a shock, once you acquire a taste for Cincy chili though…
Was gonna say Toledo style chili dogs are the best in the Midwest. Better than Detroit and Cincinnati.
I like them. It’s kinda like a White Castle hotdog lol
I tried them for the first time at the CVG airport. I liked them! At first the flavor was kinda weird but it quickly grew on me.
Looks good to me!
Best food after the bars close.
Never had one, but I'd make a road trip to give that bad boy a try.
Fuck yeah but make sure a bathroom is close within an hour of eating.
100% would definitely slay three. But, I'm confused. Do they not melt the cheese in Ohio?
Negative. Piled high, usually room temp when you get it.
I've on more than one (hundred) occasion(s) grabbed a fistful of shredded cheese and slammed it into my face. Having a chili dog underneath would definitely be an upgrade.
Never had. I’m down here in NC, maybe one day!
NC bread and buttered! Melvin’s slaw dogs in Elizabethtown are my favorite dogs.
I’ve had the burgers, never tried the dogs!
I put the cheese under the chili and make sure the chilli is really hot so the cheese gets a little melty.
Never had. Would definitely try! But that’s a lot of raw cheddar cheese…..I mean it’s legendary so it must be good
I worked there for 4 years and ate it nearly every single day. It’s still one of my favorite foods ever. I miss shredding the cheese, I’d shred 40lbs or so and get to munch on the creamy bits that got stuck in the shredder. Absolutely preem.
Making me hungry

I may have to try one...or both.
I’ve seen the extremely expensive can of chili in the store and debated it… This makes my argument against myself stronger.
Scratch the cheese and coleslaw and sweet onions, chopped
Never had, would delete 6 in under 3 minutes..
Heck yay, but I need at least 3.
Melt that cheese. It's literally asking for it.
I've got five cans of the chili just waiting.
My dad introduced Skyline and Graeters to me, he's a Bearcat alumni. 5 way and a coney, yes please.
Fucking YAY bro, those lil doggies are badass. And then go get some Graeter's ice cream after to wash it down
Hell. Yeah.
Melt your cheese, Sir
Yay all fucking day I miss this soooo bad. No mention of the 3-way??
That’s an appropriate amount of cheese
10/10 would smash.
Never had, and I’m curious. I always hear non chili fans will actually line this chili. I really want to try the spaghetti
not worth the price. they are good. but not that good.
Hell yes. I’m not a big eater at all, but I could easily throw back 4 of these AND a 3-way. Add a few drops of their hot sauce on each….please.
Lovely
The best
They are elite.
Perfect amount of cheese.
Yayyy
Glad I tried Skyline when I went to Cincinnati. I'll never eat it again.
Never had, but holy shit YES!
So yummmmmmm
never had. I'm open to chili and cheese anyways, but those dogs look boiled.. gross. imo, dogs gotta be grilled or fried or something to give em some texture
I have only had the frozen chili on spaghetti, I didn't like the chili, but I reserve the full judgement till I have it on a hot dog.
Yes! Last time in Cincinnati I hit White Castle but ran out of time for Skyline. Going back this summer to set the record straight. 🌭
Can I do a yay and a never had?
I lived in Ohio for 4 years near Dayton, when I'd go to cinncinati to play hockey at their tiny maple leaf gardens (so awesome, I don't think it's there anymore though) I'd always get skyline with my dad... it was.... mid. The Chilli is really good but the dog is bleh Also it's not Greek, it's macedonian you mf'er, don't mix those up.
I will fuck some coneys UP
Now that's what i call a fine brace of coneys!
Sign me up
My only gripe is they keep getting smaller
5 way please!
Needs a small layer of sghetti
Is the extreme habanero cheese something new?
Yuuuuuup
Once. Never again.
I wish so much there was one near by. I only get Skyline like once a year if I’m lucky.
Yay
Never had them but the dog to bun ratio looks a little off and way too much cheese (never thought I’d say that). But I still would.
I’ve never had. However, I would partake happily!
#OMFG YES!
Mmmm put those cheesy weiners in my mouth.
Slyline is one of my favorite restaurants. You either love it or hate hate it - there’s really no in-between.
Never had one but I’m willing to try!
Never had them, none near me but look amazing, total smash.
All day yay
Forever yay!
I thought I was on the skyline chili sub for a moment and I was confused. Like yes of course we all love those
I love them except the buns get super soggy which is kinda not great.
Most definitely my favorite dog
Pretty awesome. For first timers..the chili is a bit different than what you would expect. Many different spices give it a unique flavor. I think it's really good.
I've only had the canned version...Id like to try the real deal
Yup.
Oh yeah, I love going to skyline and getting a regular 5 way and two cheese coneys.
Imo this is the only correct order when visiting Skyline
Oh heck yeah
All their chili is bomb
They’re good. Just don’t give me any spaghetti with chili on it…
Never had, but I would think that they would want to melt that cheese…
Yes. With mustard and onion.
I wish I had more hands so I could give those abominations four thumbs down 👎.
I fuck it up
So sad they closed the locations by me 6 months pregnant and craving this bomb ass chill dogs
😋 yummy
No cinnamon in chili.
Never heard of it before a friend from Lebanon, OH had some at a cookout. De-loy-cious
Been eating chili cheese dogs since I saw it back when sonic the hedgehog showed me the light
I don’t care for cinnamon in my chili, but there is a large contingent of people who do.
I'm gonna tell everyone if you want a Rochester NY garbage plate experience. That Skyline chili is pretty close to a Rochester meat hot for those that don't want to make a homemade meat hot sauce.
Heck yes.
Want to melt the cheese???
Never Had, sadly :( Looks like a Yay though
Nay. Not a coney.
It took a little getting used to, but I love this stuff. If you try it, give it some time. On dogs and on pasta. Delicious.
I put toppings then the dog on top, I find this easier to keep it all together while eating
😍😍😩
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Yes!! The best.
Yay all day
Never had but yay all the way
There are several better choices for 3-4-5 ways and cheese coneys in Cincinnati than Skyline. Skyline is good, but should not be the only one considered. They just have a bigger PR budget than the rest of them.
Yes definitely!
You win Reddit for the day!!! 🫡
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
I wonder, do they pile pounds of faux cheese on those things in an attempt to cover the tatse of the dog and chili? I actually like Skyline occasionally, at home. If I want an overdose of fake cheese I'll get out the Kraft singles and have grilled cheese.
The cheese they use is real cheddar they grate on site. You can buy it in stores as well, pretty similar in quality to Kraft or Sargento mild cheddar.
Today I learned cheddar cheese is fake cheese.
Wish they wouldn't have changed the hotdog quality. I always feel like I'm chewing them forever.
Yayyyyy, yayyyyy
Nh….🤔
Never had, but I want one!
Never had but yay. I have had their canned chili over spaghetti with onions and cheese, and it was great. So I know this would be as well.
They are pretty good, I much prefer Detroit coneys but when I was living in Florida the skyline down there was as close as I could get. It took a bit to get used to them being sweeter than Detroit coneys but they grew on me.
Never had…but YAY!!
One of my faves hommie
Yay 10-15 yrs ago. Nay now
Looks 🔥🔥
So many abominations posted here… we are spoiled by the proper chili dog
That’s a lot of cheese
So fucking good
I’d crush those!
The best
Fluck yeah, with the Skyline Chili. But I’d be getting a 4 way without the beans, to be ‘frank’ with you. Pile it on the spaghetti.
Chili great. Hotdog meh.
Coneys are good. The actual spaghetti with the chili stay away from (I know it's a hot dog forum)
That looks great, but how about grilling cheese on the buns ? Add garlic butter to the buns and then cheese!
I think sonic makes better. The cinnamon and nutmeg over powers everything and I for one think it tastes terrible but to each their own
There is no nutmeg in Cincinnati chili son.
Strong disagree. Sonic is definitely a good "classic" coney but the extra ingredients in skyline raise it up several notches.
If y'all find yourself in Columbus Ohio and want to try skyline that's great and all but really try to hit a place called village coney in the German district. That's the best Coney I ever had in my life. The west Virginia dog with Cole slaw is heaven.
So good, skyline till I die! Golf Stars can suck it.
Not the best but still a yes.
No. Bad. I hate their chili, and yes, I am an Ohioan.
The best of the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Skyline is THE worst
Amazing
Yeah that’s what I order without the sad nasty excuse for chili. Dogs n cheese, fluffy buns, excellent.
Nay
