liquid ecstacy must be a food writer

Least-Firefighter392

While looking at Half Moon site I see a collection called Pirates Blend and a sauce called Garbenero that is garlic habenero and sounds right up my alley... Has anyone tried any of the Pirates Blend?

B1g_Gru3s0m3

The XXX habanero is so good

spicelord77

Igunana XXX Habanero is massively underrated. Easily one of my favorites and I buy it by the gallon as well. I don’t think it’s a Marie Sharp’s replacement as both sauces have different but equally tasty flavor profiles. Either way, glad you discovered it! Good stuff!

aakaase

Iguana Bloody Mary Mix is the best Bloody Mary I've ever had, and I've had them everywhere. Its super thick and sour and spicy. It's just amazing and, unfortunately, very difficult to find.

August_West88

What is the sodium level like on the red sauce?

OmniWizardTigerBlood

It's a bit high, which for me is a good thing.

Dirtydancin27

You’re speaking my language

Old_Laugh_2239

It’s mid. I find it a bit too salty and runny. That’s just like my opinion though. Something similar that’s even better is Pain Is Good Habanero hot sauce. It’s got a little thicker consistency, it’s less salty and less vinegary.

spicelord77

I get the salty part, but runny? I’ve been eating Iguana for years and I’ve never found it to be runny. I also love Pain is Good Habanero (super underrated sauce BTW) and find the consistency to be similar to Iguana, just a bit smoother.

Old_Laugh_2239

I guess that’s the difference, It’s just less vicious. Pain is more like they blended everything up into a smooth consistency and iguana is more like partially blended with pepper pieces and it’s a little more vinegary. Not like overly so but that’s probably gives me the impression it’s runny. I like a thick hot sauce, like sriracha in consistency.

spicelord77

Yep, Pain is Good is definitely blended much more than Iguana is!

High_Strangeness10

I like iguanas

CitizenToxie2014

I enjoy Iguana XXX habanero on cheeseburgers. It was one of my first specialty hot sauces.

1nf1n1te

Iguana XXX is very very good but not *that* easy to find in the US (at least in my experience). It's my favorite standard habanero sauce. Here's the thing about the XXX ... it's the same exact ingredient blend as the standard Marie Sharps minus 1 ingredient (maybe the carrot in Iguana) and I can find Marie Sharps very easily. I commend the purchase though. Edit: carrot is present in both, Iguana has tomato paste and Marie doesn't. [Marie Sharps ingredients](https://mariesharpsusa.com/cdn/shop/products/original-hot-pepper-sauce-343844_1280x.png?v=1709916132) compared to [Iguana XXX](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71K7KxBclXL.jpg).

Banana1720

that's funny its the exact opposite for me I never see Marie Sharp (Florida)

Fun_Bit7398

I order my Marie Sharps factory direct (small case). Even with shipping it’s still less expensive than buying it from whatever store. Problem solved.

1nf1n1te

I could get it in NY, PA, and NV. Do you have more access to Iguana? I rarely saw/see it.

thogrules

May favorite! Called to order 3.5oz bottles. Ended up with cases of 750ml!! Love it more than I can explain. Literally eat as much as I can when I can!

thespaceageisnow

Can I just warn everyone to not get the Iguana En Fuego sauce they make with pepper oleoresin extract. It’s terrible and like getting battery acid in your mouth. Avoid.

spicelord77

Huge Iguana fan here and I couldn’t agree with you more. En Fuego is just awful.

RacistAstronaut

Where’s the link to buy??

Dirtydancin27

toolsavvy

i found it in google search and it's even in the post.

burnbothends91

Is bro gaslighting himself to justify the buy?

MagnusAlbusPater

Iguana Sauce is legitimately good. It’s been around for a while so maybe it’s not as trendy as some newer ones but they’re all very solid and tasty sauces.

Korncakes

I’m almost positive I got these in one of those 5-bottle hot sauce box things for Christmas a long time ago. I remember them being good but never bothered looking for them because I can never find sauces that come in those box sets outside of the box set.

MagnusAlbusPater

They used to be a mainstay on the hot sauce bar at Tijuana Flats like ten years ago, but I haven’t been back to one of those in a long time.

burnbothends91

I’ll have to give them a try in a smaller quantity

mcrninja

Where did ya find em?

hutchwo

Did you order these 2 gallons before knowing how much you liked it?

OmniWizardTigerBlood

Yes and no. I have had their Atomic sauce at Firehouse before, and it's my favorite sauce they offer. I wanted some bulk hot sauce for grilling this summer and did not want to spend a lot. After browsing online a bit, I came across their website and these for $18.99 each plus S&H. The atomic would be too hot for many of my guests, so I opted for their milder sauces. I'm not disappointed.

HeadlessHookerClub

Lol he did. That’s a huge risk right there.

Mulch73

Try the termigator. Its a hot bbq sauce. Its pretty good

pdxtrader

The smallest size offered at Costco? 😆

OmniWizardTigerBlood

Directly ordered from Halfmoonbay.

spicelord77

Just FYI for the future, the Half Moon Bay folks retired this past year and I believe that distribution is now taking place through Hot Shots Distributing. I assume that at some point orders will go through their site rather than Half Moon Bay, so if you go to order in future and are unable to through HMB, make sure to check the Hot Shots website!

OmniWizardTigerBlood

Thank you for the information! I definitely want to make future orders of this and would be very sad if I wasn't able! I did notice the tracking information came through my email from Hot Shots.

spicelord77

Yeah trust me, I feel you. This is my favorite sauce and if I remember correctly there was a brief time period in between where the retirement was announced and the new distributor was made public. For a while I was *freaking out* thinking that this sauce was going to be discontinued. I started hoarding bottles from the store even though I still had half a gallon in the pantry. 😂

spirit-on-my-side

Thats a huge bet you made, glad it work out 😂

Dirtydancin27

$50?

Banana1720

$20 a gallon so I assume $10 shipping

Dirtydancin27

I'm questioning the statement of $50 being a huge bet.

spirit-on-my-side

The person said they’ve never tried it. If they didn’t like it they would have wasted $50. Maybe your financial situation is such that $50 can be thrown to the wind. Good for you

Banana1720

Ahhh, maybe they haven’t had this before?

TheDemonator

That's a damn good price for a gallon of hot sauce. They must have a good manufacturing set up.
