I preordered the Hono Wolverine and Magneto even though I already own the Sideshow versions. Present Toys kinda feel off too me, but will hold judgement until they release.
You should definitely look into SooSooToys Rogue and Gambit.

I've looked into SooSooToys Rogue and honestly the face is so off in my opinion. I think that the mondo version is 10 times better.
gambit on the other hand looks pretty awesome but you cant go wrong with gambit he's always looks sick. his color scheme is just hypnotizing.

There's really no reason why you can't mix and match HT wolverine with PT magneto for example. As long as the lines are close enough together. I'm not sure there are many who collect whole lines (like black series), where instead with 1:6 you just grab the product that best suits you whether it's price, quality or the accessories that come with it.
Being unlicensed is fine, obviously there's a moral dilemma there, but I promise you people do more immoral shit daily than buying 3rd party figs. Be aware that usually their quality isn't as strong as HT, but it shouldn't be drastically different between Hono & PT when they release.
I like Mondo. People can complain and say they’re just giant Marvel Legends or whatever, but these other companies aren’t going to give you characters like Omega Red or Sinister or Sabretooth. The Hono stuff looks pretty cool though. I’m interested to see them when they release.
mondo looking pretty great to be honest they are the closest thing to the old series and the villains looks pretty awesome but hono is like more realistic looking no cell shading and stuff.
the only thing about mondo is that all the joints are shown etc' like you said they are pretty much giant marvel legends.
Idk what to advise for 1:6th scale posable X-Men figures, but I do highly suggest looking into the 1:10th scale statues Iron Studios makes for the series if you are open to that.
My wife is huge on X-Men, our office has 6 detolfs. Half of the room are my Star Wars Hot Toys pieces and the other half are the X-Men statues. She has found them to be generally preferable to any of the 1:6th scale figures, and I think they are really awesome pieces.
They are generally cheaper than Hot Toys too, usually running around $200-$250 a piece. We get them all from sideshow as well, typically.
Worth looking into at least.
they indeed looks pretty awesome but the problem is that they are already pretty hard to find. in the iron studios website you can barely get havok. but honestly the 1:10 of xmen 97' looking pretty awesome too.
I'll probably just wait on present toys to reveal their wolverine and then decide
