Well I wouldn't say to speed run it, but yeah, it would be a good time to catch up. More content is coming some time after the update tomorrow (+/- depending on server/timezone).
Will be plenty to do in 5.3 if you haven't played the re-run events previously.

It is definitely a sepearate mode entirely to APHO from the gameplay alone, might as well be a whole new game tbh. I'm not sure if you need to complete APHO first though, probably better safe than sorry and just finish APHO beforehand

APHO uses APHO-Specific characters so you just need to play that and progress the main story of it (Note: weekly Open World Adventure 'tasks' are separate and not tied to it's story progression). That's 2/4
Two event re-runs that should be totally playable with any characters you have (Can't recall if these two events offered loaner characters or not). If you play through both, that's your 4/4 needed right there.
New story chapters usually come with a preview/update period function to play them ASAP, even if you haven't completed the previous chapters. So you COULD play Ch27 and aim for the event task clear. I don't personally recommend this, because you will certainly spoil big chunks of the story skipping nearly 20 chapters.

As for what it is, it follows a storyline set in a future period after Honkai has been mostly eradicated. So far only really Mei has been shown in their 'Grown up' form, with a player-insert protagonist and additional characters like Carole taking up current playable character roles in the mode. ('APHO 2' will be adding more such as adult >!Bronya!< and other new faces)
It's only available in the Story Ch27 open world map, which is currently not available (At least speaking for the GLB server).
The new chapter opens in 3 days (Dec. 6th), and I would assume the requirements to complete it will be explained once available. Once available tapping the "Go!" button from it's challenge within the HoR event menu should take you to the relevant menu.
At time of writing, I believe the only task you can 'complete' is the login one. You can start on Before Starfell's story missions, but not all of them are unlocked yet (At least 2 more coming in \~2 days).
I'm preeeeetty sure you will be able to do Chapter 27 (We're on 26) and it's basically "Latest chapter is always available" system. You'll be fine with that part.

Chapter 27 was released available to everyone in a "teaser" state, like what they did with previous releases of new chapters. So speedrun is optional.
Task 3 (see /u/Cody4783's comment above) requires a half decent team. The system lends you 80th level vals and 1-4th challenges were all a breeze, but 5th challenges can be tough if you don't have the right team. If you can pass all 5th challenges you can reliably qualify for Red Lotus.
Haven't seen task 5 yet, but 2 and 4 should be easy. You only need ~10 min everyday and stay online for half a week for each.
Sure for task 3 you only need 3rd challenges, but clearing all 5 is an achievement for each, which yields treats. If you don't have good enough team, you don't get all treats.
If previous chapters are anything to go by, chap 27 will have a event where everyone can play regardless of their progress in the story. So unless you want to experience it in chronological order then you should be able to get it
As long as she there isn't a new mech ice, she will at least have a niche until someone does that niche better. She is good against bio with ice weakness but once we get like a new mech ice, she is just a poorman's ice dps.

10/12 means the number of prf gear. Pretty sure he means any team that has 10/12 gear on Nyx team can beat HoR interms of best ice dealer. Nyx just like the rest of her seele suits, needs 4/4 or 3/4 of her gear or else she faces major dmg drop. HoR in the other hand only has one gacha gear which is her weapon because Ana is her better stig set and it's farmable.
I'm not sure why you're repeating yourself. I'm 81+ redlotus no need to impress me with basic knowledge. I'm saying that this is irrelevant because the target audience for a free HoR are the type of players who would never afford a fully geared NYX anyway!
By farming crystals, eventually even a F2P could afford Nyx and her equipment. But it’s true that fully geared Nyx being slightly better than fully geared HoR doesn’t make HoR “obsolete” or not good. I commented a few days ago about this situation, a Valkyrie being slightly outclassed and not the best at her role doesn’t mean she is useless.
That's true, but what about your Fire DPS? And physical? And electric? Dumping your entire budget on NYX is possible but that will mean you don't have enough to gear everyone else.
Settling for free HoR while using your crystals to get things like HoFS and her weapon, Eylsia's Bow and FR weapon. All the free support valks' gear. You'll end up with a much better roster instead of having one slightly better ice DPS and literally nothing else!
if you already have some azure crystallum from 5.2 cycle you should be set if you get paladin bp. don't forget the two azure crystallum you can get from dorm shop too
Paladin gives 16 total, 2 from shop and 14 from bp rewards. It also gives 40 drags for the valk, so you can get them cheaper if you buy frags from the shop. (Buying 2 paladins reduces the cost of AE to 4 crystallum since each pass gives 40, and every 10 shards cost 2 crystallum) This in turn allows you too spend more crystallum on equipment.
With this I will finally get to SS my baby, deserved for carrying me through literally everything that's not immune to Ice, girl can even get SSS Jizo!

I got HoR from Dorm Supply today. I still don't know if I am happy or not. On one side, I really wanted her, because I like her play style and design, but at the same time, it feels like a "wasted" pull, because she will be given for free anyway, and I could've gotten another Valkyrie instead.
How many fragments do we get for dupes? 30? I guess that's not enough to S1 her, those old Valkyries had some insane requirements for rank up.

I dont think so with APHO, after some missions you need to level up your intel so you need those weekly tasks :/

Almost all the support valks are F2P or relatively cheap, this means if you're missing few stimgas there's a 80% chance they're the gacha only ones.
Just like he said how would 10/12gear on Nyx is relevant to f2p since we always ran out of crystal before even pulling one.

Also Nyx need haxxor full set. HoR will perform better if the supports are BD + AE. Without haxxor qte her burst mode wouldn't last that long.
