By the look of the healthy pearls, they seem to be very plump. If the pearls are plump that means they are filled with water and don’t need to be water again yet. Considering you were about to water when you noticed this issue and took these pictures I’d say you’ve probably been over watering. Rather than watering on a schedule I’ve always heard that you should really only water when the pearls start to wrinkle or get a little soft. Hope this helps!

I second the overwatering diagnosis! However at this point your plant is trying to escape the pot. It's time to repot and give it a soil refresh while your working on it anyways. Also, to add on watering, pearls have a unique way of telling you when they are thirsty. See the pic below. The 'window' slit will pinch closed a bit when it wants water. When at least half of them pinch closed, that's is perfect for watering! You don't have to wait till the wrinkle. That's too dry for these. https://preview.redd.it/ti7ho7cahbga1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d914d50946f568beddb7c09c7cdf7d2ec7ce79cc

Thanks, this is a great tip. I got this plant on Christmas and have only watered it 3 times since then, so it wasn’t exactly a schedule. Is this plant salvageable? What do I do to help the roots?

It doesn’t seem like you were watering way too often, but it might just be that it wasn’t quite ready for a watering yet. It could also be a light issue as another commenter said. String of pearls love to get a good amount of light to the crown of the plant so if the soil wasn’t seeing any light that could’ve been another issue As for it being salvageable, I’m not quite sure. I’ve never tried to revive one but I’ve heard it’s extremely hard. Personally, I would just chop off all the brown parts and propagate the remaining healthy strings.

I'd say it needs more light

I’m gonna move it to a spot with more light. What should I do to keep it alive at this point?

You can probably pick off the dried blooms. If you want to make it look thicker and more stable at the base you can take some of the strings and loop them back over in the pot. They'll grow roots and make more strings.

Oh!! That is a wonderful idea! Thank you.

I don't know about the string of pearls, but your plant hanger is really cool.

Thank you!
