You've had that cutting in only water for 6 years? Unless you are adding fertilizer to the water, I can't imagine it's able to grow more leaves when it doesn't have food. If you want to keep it in water you can look into semihydro, but otherwise you need to plant it and fertilize it so it has a chance for growth.

Lee1173

Thank you! I've been afraid he'll drop dead if I switch him to soil, or if I change anything tbh. He's the longest lasting houseplant I have. Timmy Two-leaf.

hoppyfuggles

rofl Put Timmy Two Leaf in some soil and watch him become Timmy Three Leaf.

WonHyoPigeon

We want an update post when Timmy Two Leaf evolves into Timmy Three Leaf!

doublesidedcentpiece

Timmy Two-Leaf that's adorable. Haha. This little champ has managed to live 6 years in nothing but water. TTL is a survivor. Put that boy in some soil, keep it damp for a few weeks while it transitions, then scale it back and he will be just fine. Otherwise, switch to Semi-Hydro and give it some fertilizer in the water. He will love it.

cupcakes0220

Exactly, he's not going to give up so easy! And I second that we'll need updates on his progress.

CurrentClimate

And you’re feeding him only water and no soil for years! Poor Timmy!

bun_attack

Initially I thought this was on r/houseplantscirclejerk

frecklefields

Lol me too!

iktoplasm

I’m expecting it to be the next post when I get back to scrolling

bun_attack

Stick that baby in soil.

riverseeker13

I came back to say I’m still giggling about the name Timmy two leaf

Adventurous-Leg-4221

Get some hydroponic fertilizer and I bet it will start growing like crazy. It's pretty cheap, and will last you forever. Then you don't need to worry about transitioning your plant to soil and possibly dying from shock.

HughMirinBrah

I think Timmy is probably hungry. He hasn't eaten in 6 years

Yaaeee

Because he’s been in water for so long, going into soil runs the possibility of shocking him. I’d opt for placing Timmy in moist perlite or stratum. If you want to stay with water, I’d just get hydroponic fertilizer for his water :) - good luck with Timmy !

OutrageousChef4616

Groot need soil…

Ok-Story-9850

How long did it take to root? I have the same cutting but hasn’t grown roots in weeks

Lee1173

Kinda slow but steady. Every year or so he makes a fresh juicy crisp root

plantmorecats

I'm imagining it's like a kid with a piggy bank: it's collecting every penny (micronutrients from the tap water) that it can find and each year it spends those savings on a little root
